Oh, JEN! What a super-awesome post! I love these book ideas for new parents, and I adore the idea of setting up an Amazon wish list for books!! Fabulous ideas and so well-written, my friend!
super awesome! I would love to play around with a crazy-cool Dash, my friend! My guess on the 'silent i' is that the 'i' isn't pronounced in your name? Or is it because you are a quiet person in real life but then you let it all out on your bloggy-blog? :*) cheers! amy

My daughter came home from Kindergarten last Thursday acting out of sorts, blue, and really, really down. I asked her what was going on and what happened that made her feel that way. Our Word Wall is down. The walls... Continue reading

I loved him. No, I adored him. When he first joined our family, he felt strong, he felt safe, he felt like home. I eagerly fell into step as his most vocal adorer; I unabashedly, proudly, bravely sang his praises... Continue reading

Oh, Jill. You do need a do-over. How about this weekend, my friend? Next? You are so busy--soooo busy. And you're always pulled in 800 directions. I have no idea how you manage it and still always seem together when I see you. Hopefully when I see you in a few weeks, you'll have freshly manicured nails--a sign that you got out for a bit of peace and quiet on your own!

Amy, I agree!! What a gift from your family--it IS just a day, and it shouldn't matter when you celebrate it, as long as you put aside time to do so. Hope you have a great celebration with your mom next weekend!

Suzie- I appreciate your kind words and am terribly sorry to hear about your mom. I hope that tucking this little ole post of mine for your kids to read later will be what it takes to let them know how you feel about Mother's Day and how you'd like to spend it. And they'll get to remember how you 'took one for the team' this year by schlepping everyone to a soccer field on Mother's Day.

ha! I love it--it's definitely the latter, my friend. Uncool is staying close to home because that 20 minute drive to the better restaurants is just too exhausting. Super cool! Hope you had fun!

Shoot. That totally stinks. Shame on them for posting pictures from it and not thinking about how rotten that was of them. I'm sure it was a lame party, Sue.

Geekymummy, Yes, SanFran might be a little more open than DC, I fear. . . but I'm always up for a trip out to Cali if we can find a place to host a family of five! :*)

Jenn-- Thank you so much, and CONGRATULATIONS to you!! I read a similar article a while back in Newsweek, I think...very helpful and very informative. I agree--getting out there is important; we are active in our community moms groups, our kids' schools, activities, their rec leagues, you name it. I am betting that as our circles grow wider, the diversity of the area will begin to touch us more. Maybe?

Mara, That's a riot. Really, whatever makes everyone happy, right? Thanks for writing, and I'll keep an eye out for same-sex doll marriages over here.

Thanks, Diane! It's so easy to second-guess decisions when it comes to parenting, especially when they're split-second, on the fly ones--

Thanks, Gunfighter. You may be right. Just an odd realization for me, that's all. But now that you mention it, maybe we're not as liberal as one might think. . .

Oh my gosh--so it didn't even register that the two people were men! Too funny. I am betting my kids would have done the same thing--'ewwww' about the kissing and that's it.

Aimee-- Thank you. You're right. Tone makes a huge deal in relaying info like this. And I honestly hope that down the road info like this will not be a big deal at all for our kids!
