Thanks Gabrielle! Being upbeat is most definitely an effort and choice. I'm not sure why negativity seems easier. It does to me. So I am working at something different. It's so good to hear that I have a positive effect on others. Makes it worthwhile.
Happy fall to you!!!! May it bring you joy...

Choosing Life on this First Day of Fall
Greetings, blog readers! Today is the first day of Fall, my favorite season! (I am not hung up on such technicalities as the fact that the "official" first day of Fall isn't until Sept 21st. Today is September. In my book, that's Fall!) ;) Take a look at this picture: What do you feel when ...
*Mwah* Paula Best!
I. Am. Ready.
Today the counter on my blog shows the Chicago Half Marathon is four days away. The event I have been training for since February is four days away. I set a goal that I thought was out of my reach. The completion of that goal is four days away. I thought it impossible and, yes, even insan...
Aww....thanks Laurie! Can't wait to see you in October!! ;)

Thanks Michael! Yes, I have had to learn much about being in the NOW. Quite frankly, running can be hell and often there is no other way to be but in the now. It is a FABULOUS lesson for life. BE HERE NOW! Love it!
Thanks for the comment and book idea. I appreciate it.
Just Look At Your Shoes
As I previously reported, running in Seattle was great. More than great. Fantastic! Euphoric! Loaded with sea level oxygen! But now I'm back home, running in Asheville. And it's a whole 'nother story. This was a hard week...mostly. I won't continue to gripe and moan about the heat, humidity...
Thanks, Jennifer! Yes, I get it about feeling grounded. That, and my shoes seem to have a life of their own. Which is good. Takes some pressure off of the body. ha!

Yes, Bryan, yes! Isn't it great to have that?? My business card does that for me too. And my website will if I can get the URL issue figured out!! Thanks for the comment.

Bele Chere 5K and a PR
Yesterday I ran in my 2nd 5K race of the year, the Bele Chere 5K. (If you are wondering, Bele Chere is "an annual music and arts street festival held in downtown Asheville, North Carolina. The festival has been held annually on the last weekend in July since the late 1970s. It is the large...
Thanks Paula Sue! Yes, running is most definitely a culture, as I am learning. A cult, really. Ha!
Five days.

Girl Talk Thursday - Weird Quirks
I'll get to my weird quirks for this week's topic. But first, a story. A funny thing happened this week. I won the giveaway for Girl Talk Thursday last week. (See winning post here. Oh. But wait. Winning was not based on my brilliant witticism and amazing skill with the written word. No. It w...

The Power of Predictability
In my last post, I wrote about how good it felt to be encouraged to take the inside lane at my weekly track workout. Today, I am wondering what is preventing me from taking the inside lane of my own life. For several weeks, I have been kicking around an idea for living my purpose in life. Wha...
Gabrielle, you should play along. Every Thursday has a new topic. Just click on the badge for more info. :)

You'll Never Believe What I Did Today
Yesterday, I got a wild hair and decided to take an unscheduled run. It wasn't on the training schedule but I got into a huge fight with my husband and needed an outlet wanted to experience the beautiful day. So I took a two mile run around my neighborhood, admiring my favorite street where ...

Take the Inside Lane
A few weeks ago I began running with a group known as "Norm's Maggots." Norm is the owner of a local running store, Jus' Running, and every Tuesday night for nearly twenty years, he has organized a track workout that has its participants loving and hating him: 1.5 mile warm up, 5 miles of int...
