It’s high pie baking season. My very first memories of my mother are kneeling by her in the kitchen on a bar stool. It seems she was always there, baking up something: custard, chocolate cakes, fresh bread, sweet rolls. Mom did not exclude me from the process. Instead, I was... Continue reading

Sweet friend I am so very sorry for your loss. What a tender and holy time, but a painful one, too. I will echo others in their remarks on your sweet mama, though I never met her, I loved connecting over blogging with her. She was such a classy and wonderful woman, and I know she is so proud of everything that you are.

The slow drip of a window a/c unit. The puffy white clouds reflected in a double pained window. A shimmer of dust across wood floors. A gentle flutter of Kelly green leaves. Tomatoes on a duplex’s vine. The forced stillness of unreasonable construction traffic. One-oh-five THE vibe. Classic hip-hop and... Continue reading

I recently attended a networking event in attempt to continue to grow my business. While there I met a man who proceeded to demand a date upon two minutes of meeting me {this was after he spit part of his beer out at the table I was sitting at}. When... Continue reading

I noticed them first about a year ago, under the sink in the kitchen where my trash is. I didn’t think they were roaches at first, just some sort of funky Minnesota summer bug—they reminded me of brown box elders and weren’t particularly bothersome. Once, though, I came into the... Continue reading

I have A/C in my kitchen! Thanks to the generosity of The Ferguson family I've got a happy window until plugging along putting out delicious white noise and blissfully cool air. There are many pros to living in an older place, but a true downside of being on the third... Continue reading

I've missed blogging for the sake of simply writing and sharing images. Not sponsors or affiliates or link ups. The thing I loved about blogging is the simplicity of what it was always supposed to be {in my opinion}: When it was just the sharing of writing and your stories... Continue reading

A few months ago I woke up with the lyrics of a song in my head: I believe in a blessing I don't understand I’ve seen rain fall on wicked and the just Rain is no measure of his faithfulness... Continue reading

I haven't blogged in months! Lately things have been singularly focused on The Jadeite Shutter, my newly named {as of the first the year} photography business. I've got a blog section to that site you can find here, but have... Continue reading

Glad to hear you're doing well :) Those cupcakes look delicious. I live farther away from the cupcake place I love (I suppose this is a good thing!?). The breastfeeding info cracks me up-- I feel like I'm in the season of life (lots of friends having their first babies) where it is all we talk about sometimes.

Saturday, several weeks of work, stress, and a joint effort including my family + Matt resulted in Chintz Petit's first craft fair. Yay! I am so pleased with how it all turned out. I wasn't sure. I was nervous. I... Continue reading

I'm finally getting around to posting this after months... Matt and I both participated in a promo video for our CrossFit gym, Twin Town Fitness. This was shot shortly before we started and was posted right as we were getting... Continue reading

I’ve been working at Calvary for a little over two months. In many ways it feels like I have been here longer, and at the same time I’m also still figuring out all the small details. The beginning of April... Continue reading

It was a really good weekend. Maybe I'm in such a happy mood because it's suddenly sunny and spring like outside? Either way I'll take it. I finally figured out what boy's product I wanted to add to my Chintz... Continue reading

Let me just say that I could have used a bit more downtime this weekend. It was hectic! I had a lovely Easter, but I'm tired. Service at church was positively lovely. The entire sanctuary smelled like the beautiful, fresh... Continue reading

Yesterday I had the opportunity to speak at church. Everyone on staff was assigned one of Jesus' seven last works. Mine was "it is finished." For a few shaky moments I stood in the darkness of Calvary's sanctuary and spoke... Continue reading

I have so very many thoughts to share about my time in Dallas last weekend for the second Hope Spoken conference. When I think conferences I think boring, big, and that I’ll need more coffee than usual. When I imagine... Continue reading

Have you heard of World Vision? They are a fantastic, Christian organization and one of the causes they champion is clean water. World Vision raises the most support aside from government agencies. How cool is that!? A few weeks ago,... Continue reading
