Glad you didn't take the train in Washington.
Light Rail Heavy Force Now
Here's the latest light rail news: 1.Los Angeles. An extension of the Gold line in Los Angeles was announced last week. Another 12 miles. Another 6 stops. Another step forward for the car city becoming a train city. 2.Chicago. The city has announced an RFP (request for proposals) for a company...
Much like you do at LERN? Hypocrisy much?
More Hypocrisy with Fearless Girl
Americans love symbolism, rather than actually doing something constructive. Far easier to yell and scream over a symbol than solve the problem. So, get this, the company that built Fearless Girl, the feminist statue supposedly confronting the Wall Street (masculine) bull - - yeah, they discrim...
Gender pay equality would be great if you had actually practiced it at LERN. The only gender pay equality you practiced was for your wife. Every other female got screwed.
Focus Feminists, Focus
Third-wave feminists, those who like Gloria Steinem think boys should be raised like girls and girls like boys, are all out of focus. My brilliant co-author Julie Coates says the only thing women should be concerned about is gender pay equity in the workplace. Two issues that get us to gender pa...
Well, that failed miserably, didn't it? Lol.
Young People Alert: Watch "All The President's Men"
Julie and I were in a restaurant and asked our waitress if she knew about the current White House scandals. "It has something to do with email," the recent college graduate guessed. Wrong scandal, wrong politician. And with today's White House scandal being compared to Watergate, which is ac...
But let me take this further. You've always said "Anyone can teach, anyone can learn." LERN's goal used to be to promote continuing education, of any kind. But now it seems to be that the view is continuing education is only valid, or recognized if taught by "approved" institutions. Like UC Berkley. The birth place of free speech, where a mere few weeks ago shutdown free speech because it didn't agree with their point to view. Perhaps these classes are so popular because students are sick and tired of trying to learn, and expand their knowledge and critical thinking, without being indoctrinated by the far left. And who cares if someone is making a profit off a class? Universities have been doing that for years. To line the pockets of the administrators and tenured professors. Just because a company is registered as a "non-profit", doesn't mean they actually operate that way. You know, similar to how LERN operates.
One Way For-Profit Education Providers Undermine Public Education
The story I researched this last week for LERN and our 5,000 members was almost unbelievable. I had predicted for years that for-profit education providers, who once (e.g. Christopher Whittle) tried to take over K-12 elementary schools, and who still garner huge tax payer monies in higher educa...
Interesting that you bash Ed2Go and Centage now, while LERN profited off them for a good 20 years. And if my memory serves me correctly, their founder served on the LERN Board of directors at one point.

Interesting that employees of LERN were never given a cost of living wage increase in the 28 years of employment there. 1% was the normal, If that. Most years it was a nominal bonus, that was taxed so high you might as well have sent a card that said we donatated to the IRS on your behalf. Meanwhile the execs of LERN grew their salaries exponentially.
2017 Prediction: Shortage of College Educated Becomes Acute
One of NineShift's top predictions for 2017 is that the shortage of college educated workers becomes acute this year. The confluence of these factors are making the situation bad for business: -Unemployment rate for college educated down to 2.2% - - meaning there's not many non-working college e...
Neither one of your children have a 4 year degree. Does that make them worthless also?
The Knowledge Economy is a Myth, really?
The Guardian is the latest of our so-called respected media to join in the liberal crazy talk that kids don't need college. Thanks to another NineShifter, Daniel Thorpe of Vancouver, BC, Canada, for tipping me off about it. The New York Times proved conclusively that a four year college degree...
How on earth is Bernie Sanders at 74 years old on the same page with Gen Y? He's 6 years older than Hillary. And if Gen Y doesn't want her, why would they want him? They are both out of touch with the populace and entrenched politicians, which is why neither is ahead in the polls. While Donald Trump is a loose cannon, the ONE thing he is not, is an entrenched politician which DOES speak volumes for his supporters and Gen Y as well. The American people are tired of the status quo. Even Gen Y.
The Republican establishment is far from backing Donald Trump. There is still talk of a brokered convention. Your assertion that they are backing him is laughable. Donald Trump is the last person the Republican establishment wants elected, because they are as scared of him as the Democrats are.
Gen Y for the most part, won't even bother to vote. They'd have to actually exert some effort to do so, something most of them don't possess. Unless they decide to vote for free everything, because they're not intelligent enough to figure out that free everything means they will be paying for free everything, since the Baby Boomers are all about to retire.
Dems Losing Gen Y
Before our very eyes, the Democratic Party is in the same, or worse, shape as the GOP in meeting the needs of Gen Y and the future. Our commentary is not about politics or elections, it is simply about the transition from the last century (older people, Sec. Clinton, Tea Party, GOP) to the 21st ...
Lol. City slickers call them baby horses. Country folks call them colts and fillys.

Are You a Socialist? Take Our Quiz
Take our quiz to find out if you are a socialist. Question: do you use or support the use of public sewer systems? Yes, and you are a socialist. 100 years ago ONLY the socialists supported public sewer systems. Democrats did not support sewer systems, and neither did Republicans. My famil...
Elders in both parties dismiss Gen Y because they have zero political sense. They have zero work ethic, and want free, free, free stuff and have zero realization on how their "free stuff" will get paid for. They are already p*ssed off because FICA takes so much out of their paychecks. But they'll blindly vote for Bernie because he promises "free stuff" yet they don't comprehend that free stuff will increase their payroll deductions by 35% It's really sad Gen Y doesn't understand basic economics
The Future of Gen Y Part I
Old people have given up, apparently, trying to change Gen Y. Their new tactic - - predict Gen Y will change in the future. Emily Ekins writes in The Washington Post last week ("Millennials like socialism - Until They Get a Job")that Gen Y will give up its socialist tendencies once they begin to...
And yet they're all going broke. That's works...Not.
How Gen Y Sees Socialism
Here's a great story from Fox News - - yes, Fox News - - about how Gen Y sees socialism. To summarize, Gen Y sees socialism as social justice and economic opportunity. A few good quotes from the story. "Especially when it comes to millennials.....socialism has a whole new meaning." And that ...
Embraced by everyone who hasn't taken a basic economics course. Because everyone that has, realizes his policies are nothing more than a pipe dream.
Sanders Agenda is Gen Y Agenda
The reason Bernie Sanders is doing so well among Gen Yers is that his agenda is the Gen Y agenda. Here's a BBC story comparing Sanders policies to others'. 1.Climate Change and Climate Justice And you have to include "steering away from the steering wheel" (great phrasing from the Chippewa Falls...
The get rich for-profit sector. That's rich, pardon the pun. How about the get rich non-profit sector? You know, the one where you don't give your employees raises, but you take them, and cite "financial reasons" while your non-profit makes a $50,000-$200,000 profit a year. And then you let employees go citing "financial reasons" and then less than a month later you take your whole staff (What's left of them) to Floria for a staff retreat on the beach. But you're set for life right? With your $500/month rent payments that are never recorded as income, your $500/month retirement contribtions in addition to regular retirement contribtions. Oh, and let's not forget the company paid life insurance policies that only benefit your wife. But those little details are not reported to the BOD, they're just buried in a Financial statement no Board member dare question, or they're off the BOD. Some day, you'll have to answer to your maker on how you treated people, how you lied and stole, and how you climbed on employees backs to get you where you are. I hope it was worth it. And yet you profess yourself to be a Democrat/Progessive. The Bush's would be proud of you.
Are State Governments Destroying Continuing Education?
Are governments in way-too-many states destroying continuing education, the very activity necessary and essential for economic prosperity and productivity? Here's one view that it is happening: 1.State governments in many states are defunding higher education, decreasing their support. 2.Big ...
Who changes the oil in your car? Who replaces your flat tires? Who repairs your car? Mechanical or auto body? Who hooks up your cable or intent connection? Who services the busses or trains you ride? Who restores your power when your elictricity goes down? Who holds the door at the posh hotel you check into, or checks your bags at the hotel, or checks you into that hotel? Who serves you that gormet dinner you ordered? Who cleans your hotel room? Who drives your taxi or limo to the airport? Who sold you that last suit? Who delivered your last FedEx or UPS package? Who does your snow removal or your lawn mowing? Who sold you your purchase at the hardware store, or Menards, or Home Depot? Who sold you that book at Barnes and Noble? Or your coffee at Starbucks? Who checked you out at the grocery store, or bagged your groceries? Who read your electric meter or gas meter this month? Who plowed the snow from your street this week? Who played in the band you bought a ticket to watch last week? Who assembled that synthesizer the band used? Who changed your printer cartidge last week? (because you can't) Hypocrisy is thy name. People matter. Whether they have a formal education or not. Trades are learned. Indoctocation is not required.
Fox News Gets One Thing Right!
Trish Regan of Fox Business Network, in airing tonight's GOP debate, got "it" right. "it" meaning the whole Tea Party movement and societal battle playing out in the presidential race. She said that a large sector of Republican voters, and debate watchers, want things to go back to the way they ...
So, then what you're really saying is Gen Y is stupid. Because it's absolutely stupid to be paying your landlords mortgage payment instead of paying your own mortgage payment and investing 1/2 of every payment in your personal assets. Wow, we are doomed as a nation if that's the mentality of the young.
It's Almost Over and STILL They Don't Understand
Even with all the changes happening and almost over, people still do not understand what is going on. My brilliant co-author said there will still be a reason for NineShift, we will just shift to historians to help people understand instead of being futurists. So the Associated Press story in t...
Well you pretty much did stereoptype the Boomers that worked for you for years on end, when you fired 6 of them within a year without reason - except of course, your wife. But let's not talk about that. Gen X & Y are so cool!
Gen Y Threatening to Gen X and Boomers
Gen Y, with its huge numbers and very different generational needs, style and values, appears to already be threatening to Gen X and Boomers. At the big Distance Learning and Teaching conference in Madison this week, a Gen Xer came up and asked whether Gen Y would leapfrog her in getting promot...
If you have no highway structure, how will farm crops get to market? Farmers have to drive harvests to market, co-ops or trains for transportation to the rest of the US. If taxpayers won't pay for highway infrastructure, how do they plan to buy groceries?
The Future of Buses
Buses will be primarily used to get people to a train station. The inter-city bus routes of today will quickly fade as soon as train service is provided. -Buses cannot go as fast as trains. They go 65 mph, trains go over 100 mph. -Buses cannot provide as many amenities as trains. -Highways will ...
