Did you know? Your facility is required to have infection control policies and procedures in place per the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) as a health care facility. Within these policies and procedures comes the need for an Exposure Control Plan, which I find that a lot of facilities fail to include. An Exposure Control Plan is a written program outlining the protective measures that your facility takes to eliminate or minimize your exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials. The facility must conduct an Exposure Determination to identify job... Continue reading

As of January 26th, the PDF files on the Employee Registry have been removed. Employee training records can now be accessed by a database record search. Employees can now access the registry by clicking here. Please note that the CBRF employee training registry does not certify that a person is eliglbe towork in a CBRF. Employers also need to check the Wisconsin Caregiver Misconduct Registry by clicking here. The Wisconsin Caregiver Misconduct Registry is a record of the names of nurse aides and other non-credentialed caregivers with a substantiated finding of caregiver misconduct (abuse or neglect of a client or... Hello and Happy Holidays! Well, it WAS starting to look like Christmas; however, the majority of our snow has melted and now... it doesn't look like Winter anymore. Anyway, I have a Holiday card to share with you and it was a rather neat technique. I used a old stamp set to stamp the 'plain' tree in green on craft cardstock. Then, I took the tree "snow" stamp and stamped it on a piece of clear acetate in white pigment ink and then embossed it so it looked more like snow. How cool is that?! I love it! Challenges I'm... Did you know that you, as an assisted living facility, must follow HIPAA regulations and requirements? Many facilities assume they do not have to worry about HIPAA... but YOU DO. The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996, also known as HIPAA, details what what you must do, as a healthcare agency, to comply with the law. According to HIPAA, you must protect the following information: Any information that identifies or could potentially identify a resident Any information regarding the provision of healthcare Any information regarding resident payments Any information regarding a resident's past, present, or future health conditions... Hello all... I'm back to join in What's on Your Workdesk Wednesday (WOYWW) with the Stamping Ground and a cute card made with stamps by Fun Stampers Journey and, of course, my Copics.... and a special prize for some of you! Did you know? Each facility must have an emergency plan in place that covers not just fire emergencies, but ALL emergencies. Many facilities that I consult with are oblivious to this requirement. Not only is it often required by some funding (and paying) counties, it is also a State requirement. Your facility's emergency plan must include, at a minimum, the following: Procedures for the orderly evacuation of the residents during an emergency or disaster Procedures to follow when any resident refuses to follow evacuation/emergency procedures The facility's response to serious illness or accidents Procedures to follow when a resident is... Another creation using the August KOTM by Fun Stampers Journey. Although the kit provides products to make 4 cards, I adapted one of them to make a layout (since I'm a scrapbooker at heart). This is a page with a very recent picture of my daughter and me. Isnt' it cute?! As many of you know, I have an obsession with owls... so, this stamp set couldn't have been a better surprise!! I hope you enjoy this creation as much as I do... this picture was just taken a week ago and I love how it turned out. Challenges entered:... Continue reading

Did you know?? Every year, the CBRF must have a physician, pharmacist, or registered nurse conduct an on-site review of the medication administration and medication storage systems. The purpose of this is to ensure the effectiveness of the entire medication administration system. Many of the facilities I do consulting for forget this vital part of the rules and regulations (DHS 83). Most pharmacies that specialize in assisted living will come out to your facility and complete this review for you. However, if you're dealing with a pharmacy that doesn't or if you do not utilize a pharmacy that specializes in... Continue reading

I made my very first card using Fun Stampers Journey supplies! I used the stuff included July Kit of the Month. I'm also working on a 12x12 and 6x8 scrapbook page with the included supplies. I have an owl obsession, so you can imagine my excitement when I found this great stamp set with my monthly kit! Most everything is 3D using pop dots, i.e. the owl, the flowers, the greeting, etc. I love the colors! I am so happy that I found Fun Stampers Journey! They have so many amazing supplies, stamps, and inks. I wish I could purchase... Continue reading
