Jaya,
Depends on what you want to do. It would be helpful on a dobby loom, but is not geared toward jacquard.
New Monograph: Lampas for Shaft Looms
If you attended my lampas seminar at Complex Weavers seminars 2016 you already have a copy of my class notes on this fascinating weave. Now, with the encouragement of my weaving friends, I am providing an updated version, completely revised and reformatted, for download at a nominal fee. Order...
Thanks, everyone.
Course Correction
“The best laid schemes o' mice an' men / Gang aft a-gley.” ––Robert Burns An hour before I was scheduled to begin my Zoom seminar on Amalgamation with Complex Weavers, there was a community-wide power failure hereabouts. The Internet went down, too. Three hours later, power was restored. The I...
Thanks.
S-Twist
Once upon a time an old lady went walking in the dark forest. Eventually she came to a clearing, and the sun broke through the leaves in multiple shades of green. Just as she was admiring the leaves and thinking to herself of the greens she might add to her new warp, a fat little toad hopped...
Kim,
Try clicking on the "Email me" button in the sidebar, near the top. Let me know if that works.
Complexity
The online catalog for Complexity, the exhibition sponsored by Complex Weavers, is now available here. It is full of amazing fiber art and is a beautifully produced catalog. Check it out. Full disclosure: one of my pieces is included. I am busy putting the finishing touches on my virtual seminar...
Thank you!

Thanks! Surprising things happen when you try to work from your stash.
Stored Energy
For the remaining yard or so of the towel warp, I used an old stash of handspun hemp as weft. This was a singles yarn I had spun years ago and just left it on the bobbin. What I didn't realize was that the stored energy of the singles, not being neutralized by any plying, would create havoc afte...
Thank you! I'm now trending toward beach bag.

I use two crosses. I remove the raddle cross after spreading the warp, before winding on. After winding on I insert the lease sticks in the threading cross. I like my lease sticks to be about 18" from the end of the warp for threading, therefore the distance, which. is about 18". Works for me!

It was woven on the TC-1, & was based on an actual scan of my hands on my flatbed scanner. I modified the image in Photoshop, also applied the weave structures in Photoshop. I think it was the last thing I wove on the TC-1 before selling it. :-(

No doubt it would! I do regret having sold all my end-feed shuttles in the Big Move.
The View From Here
Today's magic word is stripes. The weaving has begun on the striped warp. The weft is 3-ply hemp, and quite ornery. It snarls as the bobbin overspins. Last night I put some filled bobbins in a baggie with damp paper towels and stuck it in the fridge. This morning they're behaving a little b...
Mary,
Hats off to the Canadian government! Excellent.
Straight Lines and Curves
No shortage of straight lines this morning at the Sustainability Center. More broccoli to come. And for curves, I give you these... ...or these. Meanwhile, I am still enjoying weaving dishtowel-sized samples on 12 shafts. This is a waffle variant. And yet another waffle weave variant. ...
Jane,
I'm not sure what they're called (lease stick holders?), but I bought them many years ago and they're very handy for suspending lease sticks in any number of positions during warping, either horizontally or vertically. Would be easy for a woodworker to duplicate. In addition to the rectangular slots, there are holes at both ends for inserting a cord.

Announcing New Monograph
After two years of off-again, on-again work on this project, including two moves and a pandemic, it is finally time to fish or cut bait. I can keep tinkering with this monograph and make it more elegant, perfectly aligned, etc., ensure there are no more inconsistencies or puzzling references, ...
Denice, These are manufactured by SoftGrip. They are called therapy weights, and are the 2.5 lb size. Google them, there are lots of suppliers.
Twos
When you walk around the lake, you get twice as much scenery. In the Department of Warps, these two lovely hand grips have speeded up production tremendously. Why didn't I ever think of this before? Each one weighs exactly 2.5 lb. I took this picture yesterday, and this warp is now beamed and...
Many surprises to be discovered here. Who would have thought?
New Amalgamation Tool
For all you fans of handweaving.net (and I hope that's most of you), Kris Bruland's new amalgamation tool has just gone live. Go to the site, log in to your account, and have the best weaving hour of your life. Kris has produced an intro video which will get you started. I'm having a great time...
Suzan,
Unfortunately I no longer have the book. I moved a few years ago, and it got lost in the move. You have stimulated me to try weaving the draft, however. I'll do that next on my 4-shaft loom!
A Curious M's & O's Draft
In the early 1960's, when I was a brand new weaver, I found the book "How to Weave Linens" by Edgar F. Worst in a used book store in New York City. My copy of this 1926 gem was well worn when I bought it, and is now even more so. It contains some history, construction diagrams of looms, reels, a...
Brenda, that's a good tip. Saves an extra step. Thank you!
Of Blankets and Layer Cakes
At last the fourth strip of the stash-buster blanket is woven. At the very end of the warp, just before putting in the waste yarn (green), I've woven in a pick of smooth cotton yarn as a separator. After I cut the weaving off just in front of the reed, I take the piece directly to the sewing mac...
it's not really faggoting. Yes, the panels have no space between. You just go back & forth 3 times before going to the next stitch.
Blanket Finished
Yes, I finally finished the blanket. For those who haven't been following this saga, I'll recap: four strips of plain weave, handspun warp & weft, joined together at the selvedges with a triple stitch, and the cut edges bound in linen. It's huge, king size I think. I tried weighing it this morni...
Doug, I've responded to you privately.

It's a painting. The color coordination is unplanned. A happy accident!
Putting the Pieces Together
Now that all four strips are washed & dried, it's time to see how they look together. I spent some time this afternoon trying out different arrangements. That's the fun part. Of course each of the strips is a different length! I will trim three of them down to match the length of the shortest...
Thanks for the tip. I just ordered one!
Excessive Weaving on the Straight
While watching today's Formula 1 race from Sao Paulo, I noted that in lap 59, due to some excessive weaving on the straight, driver Max Verstappen was shown the black and white flag for unsportsmanlike behavior. The amazing Lewis Hamilton won the race. I wager that not many of you watched the rac...
Uh-oh! Forgot about that one. It is finished, washed, & warn several times. I will get around to posting a picture, maybe after Thanksgiving.

It has been a pleasure to work with the beautiful Euroflax linens provided by LoftyFiber. I am particularly smitten with the 30/2 size, which weaves up perfectly for table linens and comes in some gorgeous colors. Some of my designs are now available as kits from LoftyFiber, with drafts and inst...
