~~~~~Heather ,I hope that you get to see this as you have so many comments already,but I too was in your exact situation with the dark wood and not knowing what colors to use.Our house was left untouched through the years and we were very blessed to buy it with all the chestnut unpainted.It is gorgeous but our dining room can be dark.We used to have your color in our old connecticut house but it wasn't going to work here so I asked for help.Someone recommended a gold color and I cringed at the thought,it was so off my comfort chart but check it out here http://pondering-ponteuf.typepad.com/pondering_ponteuf/2008/02/ta-da.html it keeps the room nice and bright and I tell you,when two thirds of the walls are covered in dark chestnut wood that was a hard feat. i can find out the name if you like:0) good luck on your quest cheerio x
