My information was the idea originated with the CNO and SecDef. Wouldn't surprise me if Mullen had some positive input as well - he seems the type.

While I understand completely your outrage, Ms. Geller (I am as well), your comment about law enforcement being "on this" is misplaced. There is nothing law enforcement can do about advertising that is accepted by a municipal authority, no matter how evil the advertiser. Absent a direct threat - in which case the ads would not be accepted in the first case - law enforcement can do nothing about it. I say this as a retired 25 year veteran of the NYPD. The commenter who wrote to the transit authority has the right idea. The only way to have this crap removed from city buses is to petition the authority directly. Writing to a friendly member of the local press would also be recommended. I applaud the efforts of you and Mr. Spenser, though.
Well Darthman - I AM impressed! Top law enforcement school in the whole country, eh? Name it, turkey. I have not yet seen a school with a program named such as you provide. Criminal Justice, Police Administration, Public Administration, yes. "Law Enforcement and Justice Administration"? No. Not ever. What exactly is a degree in "law enforcement". You think this is in some way related to practical policing? Think again, sonny. So one of your profs is a former deputy chief? Wow. When was the last time he was on the streets? I know the type, sonny. They spend their entire career hiding in an office making like impossible for working cops to do their job, kissing politicians asses. Yeah - I had people like that, too. Don't even think you can talk about experience - I made over 1000 felony arrests in my career, uncountable lower offense arrests, 37 awards, member of the Honor Legion, etc. You don't have a clue what you're talking about. Yeah - police work has changed. There has been an influx of pampered college boys who think they know it all - except maybe the Constitution and the right to self defense. My eyes are wide open. I see these assholes playing cop every day and understand if the shit hits the fan they are screwed. I repeat ... if by some twist of fate you should ever don a police uniform you will be in for a real lesson no college could possibly prepare you for. This is the real deal, sonny - not cops and robbers like your fantasies. By the way - that civilian with a concealed handgun you seem to be so afraid of might just save your ass some day. I had occasion to have 5 mopes on the ground after a felony car stop one night and while waiting for backup a civilian in a car whipped up, ID'd himself as a permit holder, and offered to wait with me until backup arrived. Wow - I can't imagine why a mere civilian would want to carry a handgun instead of a rifle!

Hey Darth ... where the hell did you get a degree in "law enforcement", the Able School of online education? I've been in law enforcement for almost 30 years and never heard of such a degree. MY degree/s are an AS in Police Administration (minor in Criminal Investigation) and a BS in Criminal Justice (minor in Public Administration. After that I was a cop on the NYPD, working such places/details as Midtown NYC, Organized Crime Control, and finishing my career on the street in Brooklyn Norths Bed-Stuy/East NY precincts. I've seen it, and I've done it. Don't think for a second that some piece of paper you have from some "college" gives you any insight at all into law enforcement or Constitutional Law. Your naivety is astounding. Unfortunately, you are too representative of the kind of cop we have nowadays. Also unfortunately, if you ever do become a cop (God forbid) you will probably wind up (God forbid) getting another cop killed - if not yourself. Which would probably not be such a loss. You think gangbangers are only out to steal STUFF? You think druggies only burglarize houses to steal STUFF? Talk to a real cop - someone who worked the streets back in the 60's and 70's like I did about that, why don't you? I still have pictures in my head of picking up bodies and body parts of people unable to defend themselves because of NY Cities draconian gun laws. Are you even the slightest bit aware of the fact that the police are not under any specific requirement to defend any given citizen? Do some research on SC decisions. Add to that by the time a cop gets done doing all the bullshit that politicians and nitwit brass want them to do you might as well kiss your ass goodbye and have your family (should they survive) get a copy of the report and aided case numbers they will wind up doing after hanging a tag on your big toe. Get a clue, youngster, and find another career - you would be eaten alive on the streets of any larger city in the country.
