continued I think god should stop commanding people to murder and do it all himself. I wonder if this would help with wars? Deuteronomy 20:13 And when the LORD thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword: (20:13-14) "And when the LORD thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword: But the women ... shalt thou take unto thyself." In the cities that god "delivers" to you, kill all the males (including old men, boys, and babies) with "the edge of the sword.... But the women ... shalt thou take unto yourself." 20:14 But the women, and the little ones, and the cattle, and all that is in the city, even all the spoil thereof, shalt thou take unto thyself; and thou shalt eat the spoil of thine enemies, which the LORD thy God hath given thee. 20:15 Thus shalt thou do unto all the cities which are very far off from thee, which are not of the cities of these nations. 20:16 But of the cities of these people, which the LORD thy God doth give thee for an inheritance, thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth: (20:16-17) "Thou shalt save alive nothing that breatheth ... as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee." Kill the old men and women, the sick and the dying, the blind and the lame, pregnant mothers, nursing mothers, infants, toddlers, and babies. 20:17 But thou shalt utterly destroy them; namely, the Hittites, and the Amorites, the Canaanites, and the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites; as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee: Peace For the Sake of Goodness Cole

Rainbows are indeed beautiful. A few times I have seen double rainbows. I don’t believe that makes me special in any way. When I was a kid I use to make rainbows spraying a garden hose. I use to do it for my daughters and have done it accidentally. Does that make me a god? If so I suppose I should have a reason for it. Mmmm, a reason?, a purpose? Okay, this is a sign to tell people to stop trying to force their belief system on their children and other children. AND (mine is a two parter) and teach the history, history only, of the major religions, not as an actual life doctrine. Show how these religions formed. This can be done without saying these are true or not, pretty simple. Oh, Bill. Children praying for a few crumbs of food, but instead die? Women raped as Yahweh watches and watches farther as these women are maliciously dismembered? So, God took out time so you can take a photo of a rainbow? Nice photo, Bill, but divinely captured? Bill posted, “Until then, a lot of the anti-Islam trash talk is just prejudicial speculation.” There may be more to the story other than the court proceedings, or not. Who knows? Do you think Hasan is praying for ‘whatever’ now? I wonder if his prayers will be answered. I wonder if Allah gave him the right to kill all these people as Elohim, El, YHVH (Yahweh), Yeshua (jesus), El Shaddai, Lord, Lord almighty, Adonai, El Elyon, god and Avinu has done so many times. #2 is great, Bill. Life is that way. Sometimes we find out we are on are own. FUNNY! Mystery is fun. Mystery can be good. Mystery movies are intriguing. Makes the mind work. Mystery of the cosmos is fantastic to read about. I think the point of this story is that people have learned now that we are on our own and we no longer need religion. Perhaps it served some kind of purpose thousands of years ago, but haven’t we learned since then? We know the right thing to do because we do…We have evolved to this point. That is the point. We keep on evolving. We become more educated and learn that modern science is now our god, metaphorically, if you choose to think that way. I choose to leave god out of it and say we are on our own, we promote science. Perhaps then we will be more fair to those who are not just like the biblical god’s teachings. Please stop brainwashing your children. Promote science, education, fairness, not bronze age teachings…Get with the rational program….It’s not too late to live your own life without big daddy watching every move and condemning you for sinning when you are simply following your nature, which I feel is truly a SIN. Don’t waste your life. Have fun. Be fair. Peace For the Sake of Goodness Cole

I’ll tell you the right thing to do, have your now mind. A man of god yesterday, a Jew, asked me how I taught the right thing to do to my daughters, I being an atheist. I said we all know what is right. He chuckled and said, “I agree.” He reminded me of this: “You don’t have to leave your brain outside of this bible study.” I enjoyed my Torah study yesterday at the synagogue. The members participated more than most X bible studies I have attended. Teaching young people in public schools about ‘all’ major religions is a huge step forward. What Bill is promoting here is a very good thing. How we can carry this farther, is even better. We KCFreethinkers are headed in the right direction. Just watch. We all make errors along the way. If we learn from these, then it was worth it. If you can’t venture outside your own belief, then you are blocking what can be learned. Life is too short to be unfair, especially to children. I didn’t say one thing bad about Jim Christianson, Will. You weren’t there. Jim has his own opinion about me, let him say it. Why does he need you to say my thoughts about him? I bare Jim no ill will, Will. He and I disagree about the god myth, so what? People, before jesus, knew the right thing to do. Before the jewish god we new the right thing to do…To say most of the world, for not believing in jesus, is wrong, is wrong. Most of us know right from wrong. Peace For the Sake of Goodness Cole

(EDITOR'S NOTE FROM BILL: Because of a posting error, this comment is two combined into one, thus accounting for its extra length.) Lets not do this only in church, or special sessions, but also in public schools by teaching the history of all the major religions. History only, not as a belief. This way the nonreligious is included, or potential nonreligious…In public schools unlike religious activities you truly get a mix of cultures. Just Thinking is an example. Keep the kids in church for more brainwashing. We nonbelievers ask Xs to our meetups often. They rarely show. Right now I am getting ready for a Torah Study. Just Thinking has been talking about the natural world and choices. I swear, that doggie must be getting tired chasing its tail. Quoting bible verses will not save you. Most Xs reading this site merely believe in the belief of god. They truly don’t believe in a jesus god. If they did, they would read the jesus book all the way thru and abide by his rules instead of cherry picking and making up their own “lucky charms”, you know, the cereal. If they believe in a god outside the abrahamic religions they are a spiritualist, even if they are inside this religion: 0.A medium: someone who serves as an intermediary between the living and the dead; "he consulted several mediums" 0.spiritualistic: of or relating to or connected with spiritualism

How long do you think it will take before most people realize we are on our on? How long to truly think rationally? The people who oppose me here only have one stand. Mindless occupation. This is what they have. How can the big bang or evolution happen without a big fat brain out there in the cosmos. I wonder where that big fat brain came from? It must be lonely talking to yourself all the time and thinking it is a supernatural hero who watches every move you make and judges you against your own thoughts. placebo 0. an innocuous or inert medication; given as a pacifier or to the control group in experiments on the efficacy of a drug (Roman Catholic Church) vespers of the office for the dead

The funerals I have been to are different than yours. Bill, posted, “It's not to hide the body and whistle a happy tune.” Yeah,… why not? Why not whistle a happy tune? Why do you need to see the dead body? I remember people close to me. I don’t need a dead body to remind me. That is morbid. Look at a dead body? What’s wrong with you? If there was proof god did not exist how will you Christians react? I have only received two honest answers, one from this blog and one outside. The only other response is in a form of another question. I will answer what if there is proof of a god. What is the problem? Insecure, like your god? He is jealous, you know. The bible says so. Jealousy is an example of insecurity. Look it up. WE ‘are’ made in his image. Christmas is on the way. I wonder what hub-bub will be spread this year? Who will try to take christ out of ‘christ’mas this year? “More-Christ” seems to be worried if people really believe. Elohim told noah to take all the creatures of the earth, animals, crawling things, and flying things by twos to a boat, but a little later Yahweh tells noah to take the clean animals by the 7s. What is going on here? Confusion? Hello. Does anyone on this site ever experiment? You know, try something new for the sake to see how it works. We have tried many things. Some work, some do not. At least we are trying, what are you doing? In the same old rut? Perhaps you should try something new like believing in the real world. continue No matter how nice people are in Christianity, no matter how liberal, they still seem to be doom and gloom about the world. Even though we live in the best of times they still go back to interpret, thru the bible, the world is growing, quote, in evil. People who complain about science in the real world, I think, should remove themselves from it. Just live thru the bible. After all that is all you need. All answers are in that book. But of course there are people who will twist that to something else. It is called morphing. Religions will morph so they will fit into a changing society. Just a 100 yrs ago: People still hold onto weird thinking. Eboo Patel, with all his broze age wisdom, said, according to Bill, “And if they try to tell you they are acting in the name of Islam or Christianity or Judaism or any faith, simply say you don't believe them because people of those faiths don't act that way.” I get this all the time in the bible studies we go to. “Oh, they are not real Xs. Religions are morphing back to where they came from, spiritualism. Perhaps these same people would like to go back to a time without sciences. For example, stop using your computer, throw away your cell phone. It can possibly be a trick of the devil. The church always takes modern technology to their advantage while condemning all the rest they deem unholy. It is simply amazing people don’t see this. Why do people want to believe in supernaturalism when it hasn’t a leg to stand on, only that they believe because they WANT to believe. Why the need for something to control your life? Is the real world too much for you? Isn’t it enough to be alive? You don’t like the natural world? Continue

Pretending to eat flesh and drink blood? The bible says thinking adultery is the same as doing it. So I suppose this is false, too. As the world progresses the bible will change. Now, have we, all this time, misinterpreted the bible, or are we simply changing it to have less conflict with the real world, you know, fit in, so they are not ridiculed. Being offended is quite the issue with the religious. I find it disturbing that people prefer to interpret the bible, their interpretations, what god is saying instead of finding scientific reasoning for the problems of the real world. What else from the bonze age do we study and translate into modern society? I have asked these questions recently with little response. If science proves there is no god what will Christians do then? How do you know there is a real god, has he spoken to you? If so, then why not go to the media and tell them this? Tell them the story of eating flesh and drinking blood. I have been asked this before, what if god is proven to exist? I always answer. I suppose when you only have faith to prove something it is difficult to answer in realistic terms. continue

continued If we have spontaneous choices to do whatever at any given time, then what good are plans. If we have choices what good is one grand plan if we are not told what is this GRAND PLAN. Makes no sense, sounds like a dog chasing its tail… People have some choices. They have a choice to go to church or to one of our meetups. Our groups are growing, 33, 35, 25, at meetups and averaging 15 or so afterwards for social times. In one year this has come from only a few - 10 or so. What does this mean? Is god guiding, with his plan, people to our groups? Or is that the devil? Did the devil make choices. Does god? The devil is for freewill as is god. Once again this kind of talk gets us nowhere. Promote science and education, now that makes a difference. I predict music will change in the future. Predicting, that is guessing what happens in the future, can be entertaining, but it doesn’t make anybody a prophet because it came true. You just got lucky. The more educated you are on the subject, perhaps the more lucky you are. I don’t care what you put on your license plate. For me it just says something about the driver. I find this rather bizarre this kind of time and money spent on THIS KIND OF beauty, which is obviously some kind of hypnotist trick. Good thing we have choices in music. And those of us who are people of faith pray that they are safely in God's eternal company. A requiem of the quality of Pearson's or Rutter's is a perfect way to say all that. I think it would be more beneficial for humankind to spend more time on the living. How about more time in science? Spending it on burials and the dead is being selfish. We spend billions in USA alone If there is a god it is not of these abrahamic fairy tale books. For one thing, I hope the biblical god is not the actual god because he is rather boring bellowing fire and brimstone, killing himself to save the people he created in his image. What? Bill wrote. “The message of the great religions is pretty consistent. If you live by your own standards and not by divine standards, you will ensnare yourself in destructive sin, whereas if you submit to the life God calls you to live, you will ultimately be free of such destruction.” If I don’t live by my own standards? What does this mean? We are on our own. Some people just to understand that. We pull together when necessary but most of the time we are alone with yourself. …to the life god calls you to live? God has never spoken to me. Others pretend he has spoken to them, but can’t verify this anymore than the bible characters can verify god’s presence. Why is that? Because god is not there. Time to grow, I think, and promote what is real, SCIENCE! Everything that becomes of great issue in America, except religion, always wins. When will we learn this and stop pouring money and time into fighting equal rights? I would say when religion stops messing with a secular society. Some people talk about god’s grace. I have seen god’s grace before. It’s called nature. You know, like in the NATURAL world. In the supernatural world you have creations like unicorns, fairies, magical frogs, rain gods, cloud gods, wind gods, thunder gods and oh, yes, “THE” GOD, that some pretend to know the mind of…You know, the one that is so kind and loving…the ONE that gives us diseases, wind storms and earth explosions! Out of 34 civilized and advanced countries America is number 33 who least believe in evolution. Something is wrong here. As soon as religion morphs to something kinder this will change. And it will change. Interfaith groups and we nonreligious will see to that. Bye Bye to the old…and HELLO to the new. You cannot stop change. It’s in our genes. Its our evolution! Even though people know how corrupt some X churches are, they just look away. Oh, they grumble a little bit, then drop money into the plate. I find this curiously disturbing. Perhaps the answer is somewhere with WHY people WANT to have something in control of their life. Something to tell you to turn left, no right.
