Members of this committee might find this article interesting. "But for years clues had existed that Britain had also expatriated colonial records that were considered too sensitive to be left in the hands of successor governments." " . . . the records had been stashed at a high-security storage facility that the Foreign Office shared with the intelligence agencies MI5 and MI6. It also revealed a bigger secret. This same repository, Hanslope Park, held files removed from a total of 37 former colonies." "The files could easily have been trashed on at least three occasions, he says, probably without publicity. For a variety of reasons, they weren’t. Maybe it was the squirrel-like tendency of archivists. Maybe it was luck." https://www.theguardian.com/news/2016/aug/18/uncovering-truth-british-empire-caroline-elkins-mau-mau
I heartily second Gerard's link to the perp-walk post. In fact, Scott Adams has an entire series of insightful posts on Donald Trump's mastery of persuasion. http://blog.dilbert.com/

Stop growing almonds.
Called all three of my members; got through to two of them. Different reaction from when I called re the imminent attack on Syria. Then the young staffer was eager to inform me that my congressman agreed with me. Now they merely noted my location and opinion.
I have just one vivid memory of Kennedy's assassination. I was in kindergarten in Edina, Minnesota. The teacher gathered us around her, sitting on the floor as we did at story time. She summarized what had happened, including the statement that Kennedy had been shot by a crazy man named Lee Harvey Oswald. Then she quizzed us. When she asked, "Who shot the President?" all the students, including myself, yelled out, "CRAZY MAN!" A moment later, a boy behind me calmly said, "Lee Harvey Oswald." My head snapped around and I looked at him in awe. All the rest of us were like a mob, but this guy was cool and self-possessed. It was many years afterwards that I learned of Kipling's lines, "If you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs . . ." It's a goal I've strove for, but of course not always achieved.

Called my member of the House and spoke to a nice staffer. Called Chuck and the line was busy. Called Gillibrand and the message said I would be shunted to voice mail due to the high volume of calls. Then the voice mail box was at capacity and not accepting messages! Ended up emailing the two senators. NY Times says characterizing the congressional call ratio as 100-to-1 against is vastly overstating support for the strike.
