But - if they hooked up with their teacher for consensual sex they'd be treated as abused kids - even if they were 17. And the prosecutor would be talking about how their lives had been ruined by a wanton woman preying on 14 year olds. How is they are adults in this case? Or, how is it a 17 year old boy who shacks up with his teacher is a minor?

Well, Mountainman, you may be right. I've been thinking this morning that all the clear thinking people down here have moved up there. You know, up where clear thinkers enjoy 30 below zero, no sun for six months, moose attack or dung in the front yard, ice and snow and floods. It keeps things interesting - you betcha. But I'll bet ya'll are glad you've got a bright, clear thinking governor on the job up there. Otherwise - well, who knows what might happen? By the way - maybe your gov and her daughter could speak with the beaver lady who posted here about us guys being "perverted retards." Maybe that cute little TEEN girl could make some sense of the idea the age of majority makes a difference about getting knocked up. And, of course, it would be interesting to know her governor-mom's take on the idea the state will have to raise that famous little kid.

"perverted retards?" Because an opinion was expressed? Sounds like the bleatings of a woman with no self esteem. Simply cannot stand an opinion that isn't hers so she screams and rants and raves. But then you turn completely stupid - "fl is the mecca for sexual predators" and the age of majority will prevent teens from getting "knocked up?" You are proof the age of majority is not a valid measure of intelligence.

The story's clear but the comments flew right over my head.

Nope, Paul, LargoFloridaPerv lives for this kind of stuff. Two in one day, right LFP? Got the guy at Dennys on the other blog and this one here. It's ok to write - but you are too anxious to tell everyone while you're patting your own back. Get a life.

No shame at all publishing this stuff. You now are relying on "Perez Hilton" as a source for "news?" And quoting somebody identified as Linda's "publicist?" I suppose it's a good idea - The St Pete Times on the shelf next to the other tabloids at checkout. Probably be able to double the price. Of course, this stuff will have to be on the cover but that's the way it works.

Why do so many prefer the death penalty? Seems to me a better penalty in this case is lock him in a 3 x 7 foot cage for life. Let him out three times a week to play in the general population for an hour and then it's back to the cage. And - interview him each six months so he can tell his tv audience how he's enjoying his life. With care, he'll last 40-50 years in the cage. Better than most of the other zoo animals.

Hard to tell, "badass" - are you dyslexic, stupid or a little teenaged boy with pimples wishing he could be somebody but knowing he never will? I say it's all three. Think you can string say, five words together in a row that says something rational? Even though english obviously isn't your first language. "Badass." Yeah, right .....

Because YOU say so, cigarain? How about a poll? It appears all - ALL - the thinking people involved in the case to the extent they knew at least a few of the facts, disagree with you. On the other hand, not counting your many blog posting disguises like, "toddrules" and "nickatdabeach", it looks like there are two other morons who agree with you. Red necked, blathering, know-nothing jerks like you belong on your own island. So you can yell at each other and not bother the humans.

Toddrules - wait a day or two and then read what you just wrote. You'll know you are a hatefilled moron if you are not embarrassed. something tells me you really are nickatdabeach and use other names for your constant spew of nonsense. yup - that's you. It's easy to spot a loud mouthed bigot. Even without the long necked bud stuck in your face.

I think you're right, Andy. But most of the people writing here think they know everything there is to know without troubling themselves with ANY of the facts other than those they like to imagine. Couple that with hate and low self-esteem and you've got a posse of vigilantes who would replace the judge with one of their own punks and the law with their form of self-promoting hysteria.

ah - I see nickatdabeach is carousing. OK - you're white, nikki. But next time you spout, remember, in your case it's "white trash."

You don't show a lot of insight or understanding, "granny." Go back and read the article. First he says he was scared to death and if he didn't shoot he'd have been killed. Meaning he intended to shoot the guy. Then he says he jumped out of the way and thought he was shooting at the dirt. Meaning he didn't intend to shoot the guy. But he shot the guy through the passenger side window. So - work it out, granny - truck is charging him he says. Then he says he had to shoot the driver because he's afraid for his life. Then he says he jumped out of the way and shot at "the dirt or something." But the bullet went through the passenger side WINDOW and hit the driver. Which means, of course, he's standing up, aiming, tracking, leading and firing. What's your theory? The shooter was afraid he'd shift from "drive" to "sideways?" What happened is the shooter is one of those clowns who should never have been permitted to have a gun. But he gets one and becomes a hero in his own mind. Guy gets him mad so, since he's a coward and a loser trying to get a little self esteem, he shoots him. Best deal for him is 2nd degree murder. And he'd better grab it before he's convicted of first degree.

"If I didn't fire, I would have gotten killed," Montanez said. "Montanez said that he and the employee jumped to safety in the hectic seconds of the commotion. As he moved out of the way, Montanez fired his .40-caliber pistol once. "I thought I had fired in the dirt or something," he said. Does it need explaining that if you're threatened you shoot at the threat - not at "the dirt or something?"

grannyinfl and wolf - one thing you both need to consider. If I see you looking at me like you don't like me and I feel threatened, you'd better be a lot quicker on the draw than me. If you're not, you won't have a second chance. And it won't be some puny 9mm hole. .45 ACP. half an inch hole going in, four inches coming out.
