Only one Empire in the last 2,300 years has successfully controlled the area now known as Afghanistan for any length of time. That Empire was the Mongols. Their PowerPoint Presentation would have consisted of 1 slide with 2 bullet points: * Muslim = dead * Repeat every 10 to 15 years as necessary. Sometimes, simple is best.

Thomas Carney - if it is any consolation, the oath further provides that military personnel will obey such orders "...according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice." According to some people I know who have completed basic training in the past two years, they are still taught that under the UCMJ, you are only required to obey the "lawful" orders of those appointed above you. Small consolation, I know, but there is still some wiggle room.
If you are in the military, or have ever been in the military, then you took the following oath (in part): "I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic." Can there be any doubt that the Usurper is a domestic enemy of the Constitution? What do you do when the de facto Commander in Chief is a domestic enemy? Do you take the position of General Meade, General Grant, General Sherman, and others who decided that their allegiance to the President was more important than their oath to protect and defend the Constitution; or do you take follow Robert E. Lee, Jeb Stuart, John Hood, and others who decided that their allegiance to Liberty was more important than continuing to serve a corrupt and tyrannical federal government endlessly striving to gather more power and control unto itself? The time is drawing near when those serving in our military will have to make a decision - the Usurper or the Constitution? You cannot have both.
It is time for Atlas to shrug. These companies should announce that not only are they not attending the committee hearing, but that they are immediately ceasing operations and laying off all of their employees, and will begin liquidating all of their assets; and that only a repeal of the healthcare deform bill within the next 60 days will permit them to continue in business. Why should they continue to step and fetch for their would-be masters in Washington, D.C.? Le sigh - too bad this is just a fantasy, since none of these "captains of industry" have the courage to do anything like this. Still, wouldn't it be grand if the producers finally called the parasites' bluff.
"On November 2nd, all Americans will be given the opportunity to be Americans - Americans our Founders would recognize as their fellow countrymen. If that opportunity is lost, America is lost. Americans will no longer be Americans any longer." And then what? Do all of us who love Liberty just go off quietly into the night put on our chains and tell our children to shut up and do likewise? Or do we finally decide that we have had enough of talk, talk, talk, and decide to do more shoot, shoot, shoot? I've got to tell you, so far, I'm underwhelmed by the talk, talk, talk - let's be non-violent so that we don't scare the 80% of the people in this Country who are sheep - strategy. Frankly, it seems to me we are losing. At some point, blows must decide. Just 12% to 13% of all men of military (age 16 to 45)fought in the Revolutionary War on the side of the Patriots. Another 12 to 13% fought on the loyalist side. The remainder just sat on the sidelines and did not get involved. The socialists are "taking" power, because we let them. But what can be "taken" can be "taken back."

Pamela Troy: so your idea of a "free" America is to use the power of government to enslave your fellow citizens and force them to produce for you, because you are unwilling to produce for yourself. It may be "free" to you, as in a "free ride," but slavery is never "free" to the slave. The difference between those who want Liberty and those who want tyranny is that the former is willing to allow the latter to live in its own communes and socialist paradises so long as they do not try to force their choice on others. The latter, i.e. the totalitarians, on the other hand, insist that everyone must participate in their system even if all you want is to be left alone. Fine, the Socialists and totalitarians have now openly declared their position and their utter contempt for the Constitution. They now have a choice - either allow those of us who wish to live in Liberty to leave the Union, or face another Civil War. We will not be slaves, economic or otherwise, to anyone. This is what it means to be an American. And, if the leftists continue to insist that they have the right to enslave others, then I am perfectly fine with taking whatever measures may be needed to get them to stop - including a military coup, rounding them up, and, if necessary shooting them. Surely, you would agree that the slave has the right under natural law to kill his or her would be slave master, if that master refuses to recognize the slave's right to be free.

Aargh! "or stop secession." Fingers working faster than brain. Mea culpa.

Cate - Agreed. Me and mine have already begun as well. Two observations: in a high-tech society, low-tech people are invisible; and technology is their weak spot. They will find it difficult to enforce healthcare deform, collect taxes, borrow money from the international bankers and Chinese, are stop secession, if their computers don't work.

"Cry havoc! And let slip the dogs of war." What is the difference between a constitutional republic and a totalitarian state? Tonight - 9 dead Democraps. The balance of power is really quite small.

A clever public relations ploy - she has her own public relations company. First, she get plenty of free press for herself and her company. Second, she has instantly distinguished herself from the other contestants. And, third, she knows that the multiculti Canadian judges will bend over backwards to show how "sensitive" they are to her "culture," so she will garner more points than she could possibly hope to have been awarded if she had actually appeared in a bikini.
Can we deliver the information to the ACLU headquarters taped to an armed Hellfire missile launched by a Predator drone? That way they can see the system in actual operation. :-)
facebook.com - Yes, minors can apply for asylum, but the Immigration Service must make a decision on their Application before they turn 21. There is a further procedural hurdle to overcome as well. Generally, an Application for Asylum must be made within one year of entering the United States. There are some exceptions to this one-year requirement. Specifically: The applicant demonstrates either the existence of changed circumstances which materially affect the applicant’s eligibility for asylum or extraordinary circumstances relating to the delay in filing. The applicant needs to have filed the application within a reasonable time given the circumstances in order to be eligible for an exception. 8 CFR § 208.4. Rifqa's conversion to Christianity may constitute a "changed circumstance" which materially affects her eligibility for asylum. More importantly, however, she needs to apply within a "reasonable time" after the change. If she has not applied for asylum already, then she should do so immediately. With respect to decisions made by her current legal team they beg the question as to whether she has an appeal based on "ineffective assistance of counsel" under the U.S. Constitution. This would seem to be a long shot, but may be one possible avenue of attacking the decisions that they have been made to date.

They can only exercise power over you if you consent. If Paterson were smart, he would have run on an anti-Obama agenda. The fact that he folded like a house of cards, while "desperately" wanting to stay in the race, tells me everything I need to know about the man's lack of character.

Arm the muslim women. Teach them how to kill in self-defense. Convert them to religions that honor and celebrate the fact that they too are made in the image of God. Do this, and we will eventually have victory over the muslim plague. Do this not, and we will hand the enemy victory.
May God Bless Canada and all who serve in her armed forces. No other country in the West has sacrificed more, per capita, in defense of freedom, than she.

"The Jewish people are afraid now." Stop being afraid. Start being brave! They pull a knife, you pull a gun. They put one of yours in the hospital, you put one of theirs in the morgue! Damn it! How much longer will we continue to withhold a violent response to violent provocation. What a bunch of sheep! Either lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way!
State actors (the police) operating under color of law (you'll be arrested) to enforce religious rules (no mingling of men and women). Sounds like a civil rights lawsuit to me. Too bad it would be the D.C. taxpayers who would have to pay, and not the mosque.
This is a cover for transferring American technology to our enemies, so that they can use it to perfect the range and accuracy of their ballistic missiles, which will soon be carrying either Pakistani or Iranian nuclear warheads or both. There is no other reason for this initiative. The muslim countries have nothing to offer us with respect to missile and space technology; therefore, the technology transfer will be one way. There's a reason there were never any muslims in science fiction stories - it takes place in the future! Duh!

So now we know what some in the Dutch government would like to see really happen to Mr. Wilders. And, G-d forbid a thousand times, if their fantasies were to become reality, what then? Do we continue to rely on the criminal justice system to find and prosecute the perpetrators so that they can continue to live their lives at the expense of the Dutch taxpayers, The economic system of Islam is parasitism - living off the production of others. That's why there is so little invention, innovation, and progress in the Islamic world, and a constant effort on their part to conquer new hosts on which the ummah can feed for another few decades. But, I digress. The real question that I have, continuously, is when do we go on offense? When do we throw up our hands and say, if the government will not protect us, we will protect ourselves - and we will do so preemptively, with "extreme prejudice." How much longer will we permit muslims to act outside the law with out fear that it will cost them anything other than a life in prison living off the production of others? Unless and until they learn to fear the righteous violence of the societies on which they are preying, we will NEVER bring the problems under control - IMHO.
En francais - I disagree. Mr. Wilders is in the right place at the right time. Europe is in deep, deep trouble, but if they are ever to have any hope of ending their slow-motion, demographic suicide then it will be because people like Mr. Wilders had the courage to stay and fight. In exile, his voice would not be nearly as loud as it is in Holland right this very moment. I salute his courage. Reese - The governments are bent on destroying their countries because, as leftists, they despise Judeo-Christian ethics and morality and everything that they have made possible, including: freedom of speech, freedom of religion, freedom of association, free market captialism, a never-ending quest for the truth, and an unquenchable curiosity about the world and how it works. The fact of the matter is that most of the world lives under tyranny and in grinding poverty, and it always has. The West, with its Judeo-Christian heritage is the exception. We are in the minority. The Left would just as soon drag us back to the Dark Ages, so long as they believe that they will be in control. They are delusional and cannot be confused by the facts. Most of them are beyond redemption. They are the enemy of all that is good and decent in the world, and like the devil they have the audacity to disguise themselves with a perverse imitation of the good so as to corrupt the gullible.
And we are not carpet bombing Waziristan and the Northwest Frontier territories in Pakistan, or Yemen, or Somalia because....? Are we afraid the Pakistanis, Yemenis and Somalians might take revenge by refusing to sneak illegally into the country anymore, or that they might start honoring the conditions of their "cultural exchange" visas and actually return to their countries once they've finished medical training in the U.S.? No, no, I know - it must be our concern for their ability to project awesome military power across vast distances. No wait - that's what we can do. Hmmmmm?
"Tarazi, sitting next to Mohamed Bary, said contact between Rifqa and the Lorenzes would jeopardize the Bary family's chance at reconciliation." I would call this subtext, but it's so obvious, it's actually just "text." What Mr. Tarazi is saying is that there can be no reconciliation so long as Rifqa refuses to deny her conscience and her Christian faith and return to the brutal arms of islam. Her parents will not, and cannot accpet her so long as she refuses to embrace their death cult masquerading as a religion. In truth, reconciliation is only as far away as her parents willingness to love their daughter regardless of her beliefs. Unfortunately, their love is conditional and is given only when she obeys the dictates of their cult. Anyone who does not obey is no longer loved or loveable in their eyes. How sad.
You know how you can tell if the Usurper is lying? His lips are moving. So, when he says that healthcare bill was not a Bolshevik plot - it was. And, when he says that he is not an ideologue - it means that he is.

Released in August after 27 years in prison. Who paid for his trip to L.A.? Who posted his bail? Unless they inherit some money, get a payout from a life insurance policy, or win the lotto, guys who have just finished 27 years in prison don't usually have a whole lot of disposable income. So, who's paying his bills?
Just once, JUST ONCE, I would like to see some large industry call the politicians' bluff. Ayn Rand suggested how this could be done in Atlas Shrugged. We need the Board of Directors from several large financial institutions to announce that as of the end of February they will dissolve and no longer be in business. They need to say to all the thousands of people that they employ, "good luck finding another job." And, to the Federal and State governments, "good luck in replacing our tax revenues." And, to the hundreds of subsidiary companies that count on them for large chunks of their income, such as the companies that microfilm cancelled checks or print checkbook registers, "good luck replacing our lost business. We are done. We are no longer going to be your whipping boys. We are no longer going to be punished for being successful and producing jobs and wealth. We are no longer going to be your slaves. DROP DEAD!" Unfortunately, they lack the coj*nes to ever take such action. The government came after the tobacco companies, and the companies took it. They came after the oil companies, and the companies took it. Now, they are coming after the banks, and the banks will take it. They are either too afraid of the consequences, or too attracted by the lure of money, even if most of it is stolen by the government. So, they will continue to bow, and scrape, and debase themselves. Unless and until the "captains of industry" decide to grow a pair, the government will simply continue to castigate and oppress them - and they deserve it!
