When they figure out how to put it in autos, stick a fork traditional radio. Until then it it's only half way there.
Is Internet Radio Taking Over Or Has It Hit a Standstill?
Paul has sent us an article about Internet radio flattening out and another article that reports online radio taking over the radio scene.
As Lili Von Shtupp said in Blazing Saddles, "it's twue, it's twue"
Is It True the Saying That the Bigger the Ferrite the Better AM Sensitivity ?
Hugo has pursued the best in radio reception perhaps better than anyone I know. Here he shares his arduous quest for the best AM sensitivity: That question began to sound in my mind since Jeff mentioned it some time ago because before that I’ve never heard of it, so I had the opportuni...
I am a big Cupertino fan and I plan on being an early I Pad adopter. But I am aklso happy with my Kindle II as an e reader. Long battery life, awesome storage for e books, right size to travel, easy to read text, and free wireless access make this a keeper. I think the Kindle is here to stay even with the all of the new tablets that are coming out. It's good at what it's meant to do as an e reader, and that's enough for me.
Wired Reports That Amazon Is Hungry for an Improved Kindle
Wired reports that Amazon wants to make their Kindle more competitive with an upgraded browser.
Congragulations to both of you. The adventure begins. It is a great journey with lots of twists and turns. Being a parent is the most important thing you do in life for someone else.
"Babies Don't Pop Out Like Footballs"
As Ed wrote on my facebook page, "Babies Don't Pop Out Like Footballs." Today at 9:20 A.M., Carrie and I had two baby girls, Natalie, 5.9 pounds; and Julia, 7.3 pounds. I hope to get back to this blog soon. Thanks for all your kind wishes and patience.
The Dude abides forever as do all of the little Lebowski's
The Big Lebowski Remains Perhaps the Biggest Cult Classic of the Last Thirty Years: 10 Reasons Why the Dude Remains Such an Endearing—and Enduring—Character:
With the new documentary about The Big Lebowski coming out about the enduring cult classic, we should look at 10 Reasons the Dude remains such an enduring figure: We all want to be the Dude for he is not some elitist or hyped-up movie character. He is an Everyman, which is to say he i...
Huesby: I have the GE model. Broken or not, it drifts... a lot. The dial just isn't a little off. It's way off. There was obviously no quality control with this set. Sure the sound is good, but it's not a good product and nothing like the SR II. I paid next to nothing for mine which was slightly used. If I had paid anywhere near even $50.00 for it, I would have returned or sent it back.
AM/FM Reception Battle Between 3 Manly Vintages
With a loaner of the remarkable GE Super Radio II in near mint condition from Ed (who paid $10 for it at a swap meet), I could not resist a manly radio grudge match between 3 treasured vintages: the aforementioned GESRII, which in good condition will bid for $150 or so; a mint Panasonic RF-...
Well let's see. The dial calibration on the GESR III is so absurdly bad as to be laughable. The reception drfits on both am and fm worse than the prarie in North Dakota in January. It's also butt ugly to boot. Other than that it's a great set. Great for having paint spilled on it or for fire hydrant use by the dog.

The GESR II is da bomb. Best $90.00 of radio bucks I ever spent. The GESR III on the other hand totally sucks in comparison.

Get a Super Radio II. I just picked one up on the auction site for less than $100 with shipping. It has a few cosmetic blemishes, but it is a great performer with top flight audio. The tuning dial is much better than my III which in general is a piece of crap. But for 42 bucks, that's about what it's worth.
Amazon Selling RCA Super Port Radio for $42 and Free Shipping Today
Formerly the GE Super Radio III, this RCA Super Port is selling on Amazon for the lowest price I've seen. Great AM (200 mm ferrite antenna) and FM. Great speaker sound. Weakness: Inaccurate tuning dial.
Just give me your paypal address here along with the total including shipping and I'll send it. You can then ship to my confirmed address. I will be traveling tomorrow and probably won't be able to send it until later in the day.
Appreciating the FM Strength of the Sony ICF-5900

I am definitely interested in it? Do you take paypal?

I am interested in the 5900 for $100.00. Does the pop up antenna work and does it have the battery cover? I assume that it works well on all bands. How is the cosmetic condition?

Been reading for a while. Great blog. First time post. Gotta go with the Panasonic RF-2200. DX monster with good FM and SW also. Honorable mention to the Telefunken Bajazzo. Sounds like a big table radio. Great speaker.
DB Wants Herculodge Readers to Weigh In: What Is Your One Best Radio?
Dear Herculodge, I was thinking it would be interesting and worthwhile if you had a poll of all the Herculodge readers / posters (and with you of course) – as to what their best radio is – say, maybe, one vote each (to keep it manageable) ??? What do you think? Best performing, weighed...
