Steve wanted to update his wardrobe and improve his style. When we learned the sizes he had been buying and wearing, we understood why he didn't feel confident about his current style and wardrobe. Steve had been buying clothes in the wrong size and fit for years. He had built a wardrobe for a shorter man with a larger physique. He made up for it by wearing thick, boxy, undershirts to fill up the extra room - for pants and shirts that were sometimes two sizes too big. To demonstrate this point, we sent him clothing that was similar to... Continue reading

Hendricks Park client Jeremy and his beautiful wife Jenny went on Safari in Tanzania this summer. They shared this fantastic image with me (along with some amazing shots of lions, zebras and more). Jeremy's outfit is both stylish and functional thanks to a slub cotton deconstructed zip polo and glenplaid canvas pants; both by Agave. -Lisa Lisa Bruckner CEO & Co-Founder Hendricks Park Dressing Well Made Easy Continue reading

Shoes. Belt. Confidence: The Style Triad. These three things have the power to make or break any outfit. Nail each one, and welcome to the world of style. The first two often lead to the third, so make 'em good. Make 'em last. Make 'em BAD. I've worked with Bill Adler Designs since I first launched my company, and I dare you to find brand with more masculine cool factor. Plus the craftsmanship is outstanding — which means you stand out among men. By now, I'm convinced: If John Wayne were a belt, he'd be BAD. Click here Now to... Continue reading

When it comes to your pants, do you know what a good fit looks like? If no, you're not alone. Most men really don't know how pants can and should fit, so many settle for "fits-ish." To the onlooker, this just looks sloppy. On the flip side, a great fit from waist down creates instant polish and class — and says "I know what I'm doing." So what does a good fit look like, and how can you tell? Click here for a graphic guide. Enjoy! Best, Lisa Bruckner, CEO and co-Founder Hendricks Park Have you “liked” us on Facebook? Shopping... for clothes? Probably the last thing a man wants to think about when planning his wedding. Earlier this month, I shared a few tips for busy grooms in an article on my company's blog. In it, I touched on Walker's story, a wonderful client I helped dress for his wedding, from proposal to honeymoon. It's so much fun to work with grooms like Walker, making it easy to dress well through this milestone in their lives — and saving them the time and hassle of shopping. What did we do to help Walker look great, so he could focus... Continue reading

Featuring Guest Author & Hendricks Park Men’s Style Expert Michelle Miller Do clothes make the man? Well, I can’t say clothes don’t partially define who you are. After all, the first thing people see is your appearance — and the way you’re dressed makes a big impact on how you feel, as well as how others see you. However, many other factors also play into how you’re perceived. As a personal style expert, it’s my job to help men find clothing that looks and fits great, and gives them the confidence to put their best foot forward in both personal... Continue reading

(This post refers to an article on our Men's Style blog, in which Aydika James summarizes key points from a past interview I conducted. You can find the new article here. Enjoy!) In the words of etiquette guru Mindy Lockard: "Chivalry isn't dead... it's just on life support." Here's how you can revive it. The age of equality is here; and many men are confused about how to behave like a gentleman, for fear of "patronizing" the liberated woman. However it's refreshingly clear that most men would like to behave like... well, men. The question is: How? To uncover the... Continue reading

Since I've been talking about denim this week... I received this phone-pic from Aydika James, writer for our men's style blog at Hendricks Park. I immediately responded: "This grandpa is looking sharp!" This gentleman's outfit proves how regardless of a man's style or age, a great pair of jeans goes a long way. Plus — as our friend Grant Harris says: "The foundation of a stylish wardrobe begins and ends with good shoes. Observe: Fantastic mahogany shoes. Here's what works about this look. (Well-groomed beard not required.) And... is it me, or is this man channeling Sean Connery? Best, Lisa... Continue reading

If you read my blog, you know I love premium denim. I call it the "workhorse of the modern man's wardrobe." So of course I was delighted when my team voted to feature Citizens of Humanity denim as our "Hot Pick of the Week." Personally, I love this line for it's incredible fit, unique (and age-appropriate) washes, plus all the personal details that remind me of a real story behind the brand. Our clients love them because they simply look and feel amazing, right off the bat. But of all the premium denim out there (and I've reviewed many), why... Continue reading

A "Style Red Alert" from Aydika James, writer and Men's Style Expert for my company's blog at Hendricks Park... However a frightening trend is arising lately, to the point that I must raise a red style flag. Please note: SkyMall is for entertainment only. It is Not. For. Clothes shopping. (Inspired by a post on my company's blog at Hendricks Park. Click here to see the original article: Tie Bars, Tie Clips - All You Need to Know) Want a quick way to step it up a notch? Wear a tie bar. (a.k.a.: Tie clip. Pin? Tack?) In April, the LA Times suggested the tie bar is enjoying a new “renaissance” in men's style. I give this two big thumbs up, as this is one of the easiest ways for men to instantly take their appearance from "yawn" to "yowza." But why are there so many names for these objects... To kick off your summer weekend, here's a little interpretation from the Hendricks Park blog. Enjoy! —Lisa Once upon a time, men's swim shorts began to shrink. They grew shorter and shorter. And shorter. Finally there was nowhere to go. Then came the 80s, when the shorts started to grow again. And like the hair of glam rock bands, they kept growing in length and width. Until finally, 2011 arrived. This summer marks a new evolution: The manly middle ground. Swim shorts are receding just enough to flatter the knee—and we applaud the update. But with more fitted shorts comes... Continue reading

Business formal with serious attitude (Photo: StreetFSN) (This article summarizes key points from previous posts, based on common questions we hear at my company, Hendricks Park. You can also find the article today on our our Men's Style blog. Enjoy!) When in Rome, dress like the Romans. For the rest of us however, more traditional rules apply. I came across these snapshots on some of my favorite blogs, StreetFSN and The Sartorialist, and they reminded me that what's lauded as fashion in Milan and Paris is often chastised as tacky in the American everyman's world. However you choose to push... Continue reading
