Thank you. Even though this is an older post it is still entirely true. Its hard to argue with entertainment logic. lol

I'm amazed at how many calls that I receive from couples who not only leave the entertainment for their weddings as the last thing to do on their list but also expect to get a quality Emcee/DJ for a ridiculously low price. The lack of importance and value that many couples place on their entertainment is astounding. I think that one of the big issues these days is that it's just too easy for amateurs to enter the business. When I started in the business in 1994 I had to buy all of my music (in addition to equipment) so the cost was much more prohibitive. I.e. people in the business took their work much more seriously and as a result it was much more likely that a person would start in the business by working for a pro company and honing their skills before going out on their own. These days anyone can copy a hard drive inexpensively and "poof" they're a DJ with 100,000 songs who can run out and undercut the industry. Not only do they undercut the true professionals but they also end up giving the entire industry a bad name when they do an awful job. I also doubt that the $350 weekend warrior DJ is sitting down and thoroughly planning out the details with the bride & groom. I probably do a minimum of 5 hours of planning for a simple wedding. For a more elaborate affair it can be 3X that! I can go on and on about the difference between the amateur and the true pro but when people are constantly subject to bad entertainment, they place less and less value on it. That said, I believe the we in the industry need to really focus on finding new ways to effectively communicate and educate our customers.

Is YOUR PROM coming up? Is your PROM advisor considering a DJ company for your school's PROM based SOLELY on whether or not that company offers the cheapest price? BE CAREFUL! Teenagers today are much more musically savvy then EVER before....ESPECIALLY when it comes to DJs. By the time students get to the point in their lives where they are ready to attend their PROM they have likely been to multiple night clubs and private events where there was a top flight entertainment company and a very talented DJ. Another unique phenomenon that has only been in place for the... Continue reading

"Art isn't about being good; it's about being creative." ~Miles McDermott I love that quote. Even better is that an 18 year old kid taught me that concept. If you promise not to tell anyone, I'll let you in on a little secret. Sometimes I feel at tad bit inferior.... Continue reading
