I love rice also... and we eat it often, but I have to say my favorite rice dish is the broccoli and rice dish my mom makes only at Thanksgiving and Christmas. It might be more the memories than the actual dish that I love so much.

What was November's banner? I couldn't decide. December's cookie looks like an ancient wall, with old painted stick chickens dancing across the chocolate yard.

The very first cake I can remember baking was a yellow box mix with chocolate icing for my parents 18th wedding anniversay... that would have made me about 13... I remember this one, because my sweet mom took pictures and acted so proud. Truth is, the cake was lopsided and messy... but even a box mix I'm certain it was good. I love cake, especially birthday cake. My son will bribe me with birthday cake when he wants something... he'll say "I've got birthday cake for you if ... " I love it!! even though there has rarely been birthday cake with his bribes.

He seems so grown up in a few of these pictures... be careful Jayme, he's going to be grown before you know it. I hope he never loses that willingness to mug for the camera for you.

I love that you feed your kids pie for breakfast. Is this a birthday thing or an everyday thing? I would be so much more popular with my stepchildren if I allowed pie for breakfast or even the popcorn and tookies for dinner that my ten year old wanted when he was three. Happy Birthday Alex! I love your mother's cooking too.

My favorite dip is a very simple one made with pace picante sauce and cream cheese... mixed together and eaten with salty potato chips... ruffles were always my favorite. total comfort food.
