NaNoWriMo, I love you.
4,224 words for NaNoWriMo. Here is an excerpt: {shhhh!} "Don’t get me wrong. I was cute. Smart. I had dreams as a child of opening my own beauty salon, or becoming an archaeologist who dug up the Egyptian sands. I had a skinny frame, cocoa skin, full lips and luscious long, black shiny hair. ...
All we really have is "this moment"
I tend to live in the future, which of course is formed by "this moment" Just have to remember that more often.
Little big things!
I'm thinking of nanowrimo too. Big commitment but exciting.
Of passages and small packets; a new map to guide us.
Each door opens to opportunity. Without fail. The same as each morning dawns on greater possibilities. I am steadfast in my belief of choice. In choosing we not only architect the journey (yes, I've used architect as a verb! imagine!) but construct the outcome of our longing. Intent is of...
Thanks for sharing this miracle with us. It must have been amazing to see. Remarkable. The story is just beginning. Fly little butterfly. Across the miles. Away you go~ safe journey xo
Meet Frida :)
Now I ask you. Isn't she the most beautiful little creature you have ever seen? Letting her go tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed that the weather is favourable for her. Then she'll make her journey to Mexico, in true bohemian style...mapless and happily enjoying all the moments o...

Yes, it all starts with us.
My b'day is January 8! Winter babies we are:)
all you need is *LOVE*
I dreamed once after my paternal grandmother died that I met her on a beach. We walked hand in hand through the surf while seagulls cried and swooped, and she smiled a beaming smile at me. She assured me she was happy and that this was the place for her. She told me I would join her one da...
As always, thanks for your thought provoking and always useful posts! Cheers, Shelagh

She's one of my most favourite cooks! I love her. There are lots of clips of her various recipes on youtube. They are so beautifully shot.
Sigh. She's Even Wearing a Red Cardigan and Green Dress on the Cover.
How did I not know about this book until yesterday?! It combines two of my favorite things, Nigella + Christmas...in one place. Josiah (who apparently has his ear to the ground about such things) told me about it last night, and I crowed with glee. Acquiring a copy has moved up to the top of ...
How wonderfully terrific!
Thanks for this:)
I was inspired recently by the movie, Coco Avant Chanel.
She was a true original, with an eye all her own and a driving creative force.

Susanna's Sketchbook
This is Susanna. When I first began blogging some two years ago my friend and blog mentor Maryam told me that Susanna's Sketchbook was the best blog out there. I was living in Marrakech and felt far from the rest of the world. Blogging was a good way to keep in touch. I was in awe of Susanna...
Every visit here I discover something wonderful. Lovely pictures, especially the last one.

November 9, 2009: Tending the Earth
Bloomfield, Ontario: The bikeshop was closed but the friendly hippie girl who lived in the interesting house out back (interesting in that it was a round military shed with black illustrations painted all over the front, depicting the events that occurred in it over a week. From the big wine bot...
Happy All Souls Day!
My dad was in the Canadian Air Force too. I loved seeing him in his uniform and hat. Those buttons, yes, those shiny lovely buttons. Brings back nice memories.
Your wee shrine is perfect. I love the idea of magnets to move them around!!

Welcome to Dia de Bloglandia 2009! Today we are celebrating Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. Dia de los Muertos is a festival traditionally held in Mexico (and now other parts of the world) every November 1 and 2. It is a celebration through music and dance, food and drink, decoratio...
Happy All Souls day! Long may they live in our memories (and where ever else they might be:)
A fox! I love their tails, so big in comparison to their wee bodies. Usually it is coyotes one sees.
Paper calavera catrinas & sugar skull catrinas, Happy Dia de los Muertos~!
Last year's ofrenda. For the Day of the Dead. Made with skeleton lollipops and sequins :) Dia de los Muertos is upon us again! If I were close to the Mexican border (which I am not) I would have bowls of marigolds laid out (no Marigolds around here!). As it stands, I will have candles lit, ca...
Happy Hallowe'en!
Boo!
Yes, I have something planned for Dia de los Muertos, not very colourful, but I think it is interesting:)

September 21, 2009
It's seems like ages since I last wrote a post...certainly not the week that it has been. Since then, I started a new sketchbook with photographs, folk songs and notes taped and written on the pages. I finished this book which had me reading til the late hours of night - and thinking about...
So gorgeous! Words and pictures. Deep in the heart of winter, come back to this post and it will fill your heart with summer!
Dune grass beckoned by twilight.
This girl loves dune grass. The soft swaying hush in early evening's light, a chorus of lush green blades beautifully serenading each wavelength of dipping golden sun. The wind sweeps through in her ritualistic dance, swirling and twirling with each long arched blade as though it were a l...
I feel like I have just had a cup of tea and a nice chat. Although it was all one sided, it was lovely and relaxing reading your thoughts and impressions. Always is! I have not been around as much...such is the ebb and flow of life and bloggy visits.
Sit. Though you believe there are more pressing things to do.
Sit. Put those tired legs up. Close your eyes, and breathe in deeply. Now if your feet are up, concentrate on relaxing each muscle from your great toes to your hips. Breathe again. Shrug those shoulders a few times, loosen the dust from your joints and set your tensions free. Allow them e...
Coke slushie sounds good. Never had one. Lovely hot summer vacation day treat.
That painting reminded me of the town of Giverny/Vernon. I wonder if it was painted near there.
Ah, you paint such a sweet picture of late summer. I am longing to get away for a summer vacation but it is not going to happen. Maybe a night away at a county B&B will slake my thirst.
xo
What are your skies like today?
~Bottle of coke~photograph by gillian da silva Things go better, when Coke and I, get together. :) I'm drinking an icy chilled Coke right now...albeit in the form of a slushie from the corner store. It's hot, I'm bothered... so I thought, why not? Some random randoms; I'm loving the sound o...

Continued from the last post... Over the next week, J and I divided our time between the cottage, one of our favourite places in the world, and... Ottawa, the capital of Canada and where many of our relatives live. We spent a morning mountain biking in the Gatineau Hills, Quebec, a short dr...
I love avocados!!! That snick sound when you scrape a spoon down the skin to release the flesh. Yum.
I was looking through AirBnB for a NYC rental. Great site and I know what you mean about getting lost in the listings:)
The royal avocado.
Mashed in with a tin of albacore tuna, a splash of lemon. Or with a spoon straight down the hatch. Your choice. :) This little fella hails from Peru. His brother (in the bag of five that I bought) was rubbery. Has that ever happened to you? The skin was the right colour, as if he had ri...
I love bonnets! What fun. Looking forward to seeing what you create!
It is pouring rain here this weekend and I am just fine with that:) The snow will be gone by Monday:)
April 3, 2009
April lived up to its name today when the dark clouds and heavy rains rumbled into town. Not that I mind the rain...everything smells so fresh outside this evening. A good rain now will hopefully mean that the Garden State will be lush this summer. Yesterday afternoon, I attended the nine cou...
I have watched many of the TED talks and they are all riveting. We can learn a lot. I must seek out Elizabeth's. The prose you wrote is beautiful. I wanted to read more:)
Glad your women's night was a success:) I always enjoy spending time with a group of women. Have a happy week!
Rainy days and permission to shine.
Basalt stones, used in our Hot Stone Massage Therapy, out re-charging in the rain soaked sunlight of my backyard. The other night, while catching up on blogs, I watched a video featured in a brilliant posting by one of my fave bloggers, Du Buh Du Designs. The link to that post with the video...
