A very Merry Christmas to you, Benita! And to Wille, Mini and Bonus too :)
Project 52: Week 51
A single week to go and my project is completed. It’s actually really hard to believe that it’s Christmas tomorrow (we celebrate on the 24th over here). The temperatures are almost spring like. The lawn’s never looked better and the spikes I got for my walking shoes have only been used once ...
Love Skansen at Christmas! Especially the setups in the different houses that show how the holidays were celebrated way back in time in different parts of the country.
Project 52: Week 49
The week started off cool and crisp with some frost and by Thursday there was a snowstorm heading up from the south of Sweden towards us. On Friday it got really cold and snowy and on Saturday Sanna and I went to the Skansen Christmas market, but more on that later this week! Have a good one!
Well done, ladies! This American would definitely have been happy with that Thanksgiving dinner.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy thanksgiving, guys! My dinner club members and I celebrated ours early. Say hi to Sarah! Us dinner club members, Kerstin, Jenny, Sarah and I rotate the club dinners at our houses and this time around we were at Kerstin’s place, three houses from mine. There were cosmos… ...
Here I am answering your question but not under where you asked it...feeling very web-unsavvy since the change in the setup of the comments! Anyway...I'd love to have a book donation - I'll hop over to email to maybe make this conversation easier :)
One in One Out
I have this thing about not wanting to accumulate more stuff. I’m constantly looking through my belongings to see if there’s something I can get rid of and donate. To me paring down is therapy. It’s the best feeling ever, letting stuff go. I have a system going that really works for me a...
That's a great philosophy. I started doing something like this a few years ago after a huge purge at home, and while I still feel like I'm "in training" it's such a liberating feeling to take control over all the THINGS in the home. What did you think about "Zero Waste Home", by the way? It sounds interesting.

Pretty! What a nice shot of spring/summer here in the middle of all the darkness.
Hosta Bouquet
As I was filing away the photos of the back yard the other day I came a cross these which I never got around to sharing at the time I took them. They’re just plain Hosta leaves. Not in the garden, but inside. A VERY cheap bouquet that lasted a couple of weeks at least if I remember it c...
Oh how cool! Good work!
Cute as a Button
If you follow my Lovely things Pinterest board you might have seen this pin and my comment to it. Ever since pinning that button trivet I’ve been wanting one. Lotta A pointed out that I could make one by using a cheese board from the local supermarket but although I’ve been keeping an eye out...
You have a great week too Benita! We'll be putting lights up soon too - love the mild weather but it's SO dark!
Project 52: Week 45
With only a few weeks until Advent 1st when we start decorating our houses for the holidays over here, I took inventory of my lights. No need to buy any this year! Diesel makes regular appearances at our house and still doesn’t understand why Bonus can go through the chip flap and he can’t. H...
Such a good idea. You opened my eyes to the wonders of the bungee cord, and since then we've used it on things where it never would've occurred to us before. When some stuff needs organizing now, our first question is "Can we bungee it?" :)
Stay in Place
This is the little closet door in Wille’s bedroom. The one I wallpapered with the vintage wallpaper we found in the attic. Inside it was one of few areas till in need of organization. We keep an extra folding bed, bedding for said bed, camping sleeping equipment, a guitar case, a massage...
That looks yummy! What a good idea for using up the vegetables we're harvesting from the kitchen garden right now - the fridge is starting to get really crowded.
And I love the cute box Arla sent the stuff in!
Svenskt Smör
You know how I’m no chef. Not into cooking. I cook because I have to, because we have to eat. Anyway I was approached by Arla (a Swedish dairy producer) asking if I’d accept a “box full of magic”. Who says no to that? I didn’t. I do admit that at first I was a bit disappointed. I was hop...
Oh I love it. The green was cool but this is definitely calmer.
Gray Wall
Remember my green wall? Going, going… …gone! I just felt like having something calmer in the desk area and the grey is actually from a can I rescued from being tossed at work years ago (back in 2002 according to the date on the can). We were trying out a new store concept and ...
Ooh, Thanksgiving dinner. I look forward all year to that :)
It is finally starting to get cooler, isn't it - this summer and now fall have been gorgeous!
So cool that Wille's going to be a bartender! Maybe you can hire him for your dinner club evenings.
Project 52: Week 38
Hello! It’s getting cooler over here which I quite enjoy even though it’s hard to believe that we do sometimes get snow as early as mid October which is only three weeks away. On Saturday our dinner club was in session again with the French theme. I was in charge of the dessert, remember? The...
OHH. Love and desire and envy!! Lucky you! You should've just moved in - they probably wouldn't have noticed ;)
The Iittala Apartment
As I’ve told you before I very rarely go to all the press events I get invited to. I don’t go because I’m shy and always feel awkward in those contexts and usually if I do go I regret it when arriving there because I don’t know what to say. Iittala is launching furnishings and to start ...
What a cute mug! I'm with you - I tend to like deeper, spicy teas and the fruity ones are usually too "light" for me. I can definitely recommend two favorites right now: Yogi Tea's Choco Aztec Spice, and Pukka's Licorice & Cinnamon. Yum!
Teariffic
Cute cup, huh? Haha! Last week I was sent a package of teas to try and the cup was a fun touch! I was a bit dubious about whether I would like any of the teas when I opened the package and saw what they were as I usually prefer spicier flavors like Earl Grey and Chai. I have to say ...
It looks GREAT! Isn't it nice to get a flowerbed exactly like you want it? I have a question about your hydrangeas: I planted a couple Endless Summers last year too, and while they've gotten much bigger they have no blooms to speak of, except on one which has just now gotten little tiny beginnings of flowers - did you take more care than normal to protect them during the winter, or? I'm trying to figure out what I might have done wrong...
The Flower Bed
Here’s a long overdue post. For some reason these garden posts are the hardest to put together. I guess it’s because I’m never really happy with the photos in them. Too green, to bright yadda yadda yadda. Anyway this is also the second time I write it because as I was happy to have finished i...
Ha! The first thing I thought when I saw that cup was "that can NOT be very popular with Wille" :) Read an article on trypophobia just the other day, and someone mentioned a Surinam toad...and of course I had to google it...and regretted it greatly. If it's possible to give yourself a fear, I think I've done it!
Project 52: Week 36
We’re still having the most amazing summer weather over here. It’s cooler (bordering on cold) at night and in the mornings but temperatures have been over 20 C during the days which is unusual for us in September. 1) I’m taking the opportunity to drink out of the droplet cups while Wille’s aw...
You HAVE inspired me! Right now our fridge is known as the Refrigerator of Shame :/
Cleaning the Fridge
Yes, Mini, it really WAS time to clean the fridge! On Sunday after Wille left I decided I’d tackle a project that I’ve been putting off for a while. Cleaning the fridge. I took the opportunity when I didn’t have it fully stocked for Wille like I usually do. So I emptied everything o...
Oh what a bummer! Hope it gets better soon!
Project 52: Week 35
A bit bummed this week. Not because Wille left for Dublin yesterday ( Yay, here he comes!) or due to the heavy rain we’ve had over the weekend (Yay, garden!). I’m bummed because just as I was so excited about my power walks and was getting ready to see the PT at the gym I got an inflammation ...
Okay, 12 years in Sweden and I just learned that skuggmoreller are sour cherries. I always thought that was a type of mushroom! Confusing language - not at all as straightforward as English, ha ha.
Great idea - maybe I'll do something like that with our bumper crop of summer squash!
Cherries
Back in spring my sour cherry tree bloomed like never before. It was crazy beautiful. I do remember thinking “I hope not every one of those blooms will turn into a cherry, or I’m in trouble!”. Guess what? They did. Our tree has been SO heavy with berries it’s completely nuts. These ...
Nice to see you (or your feet anyway) this autumny Monday morning! Glad you had a good time at your Mom's - have a good week!
Project 52: Week 33
Last week I went to my mom’s in Skåne, in the southern part of Sweden. As usual I had a list of things to do which included yard work, painting window sills and some cleaning. In return I had good food and wine. Nice trade. This week I’m taking an InDesign course for work, having dinner with ...
Oh goodness. All that looks so good!
The Dinner Club
Three friends and neighbors and I have a dinner club. We didn’t sit down and decided “Lets have a dinner club!”, it just happened organically when we started getting together for drinks, “fika” or dinner. After the first dinner to with everyone pitched in bringing a random dish we said it mig...
Oh yum! We're definitely going to try those.
Banana Pancakes
Have you heard of the banana pancake? It’s been making the blog rounds over here in Sweden and I decided it was time to try it after hearing such rave reviews everywhere. And I can totally understand why. This must be the easiest and tastiest pancake around! All you need is a tiny bit of...
Little Mini girl, you're just too brave for your own good! Get well soon, little lady.
Mischievous Miss Mini
Ok, we have a cone situation on our hands again. Or rather on Mini’s cute little head. Where Bonus is our scaredy cat, Mini is our feisty one. Mini doesn’t shy away from potential danger but faces it head on. Pun not intended. This little tiny kitty takes on our neighborhood’s big cats and ch...
You have a good week too! I'm back to work today too and am actually very happy for a break in the glorious sun and hot weather. Here we've had far too much of the good, and the ground is begging for a good soaking.
Project 52: Week 30
Back to work. On a positive note, it’s been great having Wille with me all week (and this week too!) but it does kinda suck to be stuck inside with GLORIOUS hot weather outside. Have a good week!
HAHAHA! That little girl is so funny with her photobombs. Cardboard tube, still cardboard tube, then cardboard tube AND MINI. And that look in her eye - you just try and tell her to get out of the shot :)
No.27 in Concrete - Starting the Project
So, I’ve been wanting to do another concrete craft ever since I participated in, and WON, the Panduro concrete challenge a few years ago. See my entries to the challenge at the end of this post. Anyway, I had envisaged doing a concrete circle grouping like I showed here, but as the time went...
