I Knitted my first hat of the season and am proud to say it took only one day to finish( bulky yarn) .Already wrapped and gifted.Still trying to figure out the correct RT andLT method. They had many different demo's for the same stitch. Confusing. The hat came out cute dispite a difference in the patten. Now I'm addicted again. I can't start a new knitting project till I'm finished with my fall chores.

That was such a beautiful walk. Horseneck beach is one of my favorite beaches. I can still hear the sound of waves tumbling stones on the shore. One of the these days I will make an impromptu visit after a good storm just to see what treasures have washed up on shore. Although I just realized I have yet to go through my two treasure bags from our adventure.

Can you believe it has been two whole weeks since the wedding....Autumn is in full glory and only glimpses of that beautiful late summer garden peak out from the fallen leaves. I'm glad things have slowed down. I am still waiting for frost to finish my gardens . There are still zuchini, beans, kale, squash and tomatoes.. Its October and I'm still watering and picking.... Oh! And the White Zinnia patch is bigger then before we cut for the wedding. Amazing!

Beautiful photo's, I completely feel the same way when a storm rolls through.. The first crack of thunder and I become electrified. A crazy manic excitement takes over me and I start to quiver in a slightly panicked state. Kiera Jo, knows a storm is coming long before the first black clouds arrive. She begins shaking and panting in a quite annoying manner. I am sure if I were a dog my reactions would look the same. I run around the house shutting windows and unplugging electronics. A ritual instilled in me as a child, watching my grandma and mom sprint around their homes just before a storm. Only to sit on the porch and watch until the thunder and lightning became to much to bare.

I know how you feel, even though my moves have been in one small village and not around the country.. Each home full of memories is held dear in my heart and lovingly named for the street they were on...The Boardman street years, seem a lifetime ago, nine crazy, wonderous years. Where Zack and Jesse were born and our young family of five grew and learned many of life's hard lessons. Then the Skene street years, ten in all.. Oh how I loved that little home on the hill.. Small and cottage like, where I learned to garden and Eric threw himself into his artwork,we settled into our thirties and our small children became teenagers and gave us a run for our money...Our oldest gave birth to our first granddaughter,Madison. Magical Christmas's (My holiday decorations looked so twinkly special in the Skene street house.)Sunday suppers began and evolved as my siblings started their families. So here we are now on route four.. I don't think I'll call it the route four years. We will probably call it the Old farmhouse years..In the three years that we have lived here great memories have been made, another granddaughter born.. plenty of space for family and friends to visit, explore, play and create lasting memories. The sort of memories that will have them saying "remember when..." I look forward to making some of those memories with your Miner family.

I hope you feel better soon!! Eric And I have been battling a flu that started with Zack. Even though he is 22. He always seems to bring a good bug into the house to spread around. Just when I need to be on top of my game I'm shivering under the covers. I made two soups yesterday and I've slowly managed to finish holiday decorating. All with the help of day-quill.. So.... Any word yet on where your going to be moving to.. I may not go online much these days but I am always checking in on you. We LOVE and miss you all. Call us when you find out..

I'm totally jealous of the Bernina.. I had a fight with my old singer. Almost through her out of the house.. I had to be a machine mechanic and take the whole bobbin system apart and then put it back together (which wasn't fun). But she is working again and Eric says I look cute when I'm sewing, as he hands me a zipper to be fixed and a shirt to be mended.. But still Just basic sewing on this old girl.. No bells and wistles.. Happy quilting to you.. See you in a few days.. then I can ogle your Bernina...

I was wondering where you were headed...A quilting retreat makes me envision a movie I had seen once with women sitting in rocking chairs, hand stitching their piece of the quilt... Love the cape.. My mom made capes for my boys 20 years ago and they have made their way around the family. I'm ready for a new sewing machine..Not that I mind my gramma's 1950's table model Singer. It does the job..But,fabric gadget wise,is limited. I would love a new computerized version with all the gadgets and options..Christmas is coming!!! Halloween...speaking of sewing mishaps..Lessons learned.. Never drink wine and think you can work on a project...Back to the fabric store for me...OOPs!!

I too, let the kids crawl in bed with us..Those days have long past and the closest thing we have to it is the family couch and a good movie!! When they were little I would sometime's crawl into their bed after a nightmare of mine had woke me with fear and worry. When my daughter was pregnant, young and still living with us, I spent the final days of her pregnancy sleeping with her... Maybe that is strange.. But that is where my instincts wanted me to be..Rubbing her back through the early stages of labor.. I had my husband and she had me.. Now when my granddaughter's spend the night, Guess where she sleeps.. with me and I wouldn't have it any other way...There is nothing more bonding than sharing your bed...

I was mindful of "TIME", while sitting in my back yard enjoying the beauty of my gardens. I thought to myself, "Is it just me or is time out of control?" Saddened, knowing time is limited for my flowers,as leaves change and fall around me. How quickly My favorite seasons pass. Gardening is my passion not a chore and September seems to be filled with chores as the inevitable winter approaches. The list of chores, barren trees and brown gardens filled my mind . A Monarch butterfly landed near me and snapped me out of the doom and gloom I was feeling. Then a yellow swallow tail and two white little ones joined the dance. Butterflies have a way of making me feel like a child. So I wondered "Why as a child did the days and seasons and years seem longer?" Because, TODAY was all that concerned me. Being present in the beauty of the moment seems to make those moments longer. Children have to be reminded of chores, they don't scrutinize over them. As My husband Yells for my assistance for a winterizing chore. I'll make sure to enjoy the flowers while I help him!

I've been thinking of you all day.. Watching the reports and satellites... Hopefully the flooding won't be to bad. I pray you are all safe and sound.. Is Joe out in this or on base waiting for instructions. I slept through the last big storm we had with a bad hangover. Not something I recommend with children, But it saved me the anxiety and worry of our giant trees toppling on the house. Keep us updated!!Love you!! ~tammy

Sand fleas + two blond dogs = INSANE amounts of scratching, bathing , spraying and shedding. Dental hygiene and beard control + three grown guys = DISGUSTING mirror splatter, and a sink of hair spit remnants. Cheap dog food + 6 months old pup = GAGGING smell and clean up of something far worse than any diaper I've ever dealt with. Extreme pain in both hands every night + surgically induced menopausal hot flashes = Broken sleep pattern, irritability and arguments with the doctors that hand carpel pain is new and a result of some deficiency brought on by lack of estrogen. They want to operate. I say "not until I've lost my mind". That was the worst of my week.. Finding a great pair of shoes while doing some retail therapy after said doctors visit + 15lb weight loss ( over the summer) + cute little black dress and polka dot undies + beautiful and memorable theater style family wedding + My handsome, loving, understanding husband of 25 years = A few glasses of after 5pm drinks and a whole lot of appreciation. For the happier things in life far exceed the mundane and the mundane make the happier moments just that... HAPPIER.

I think you know what I'm hoping for. I'm sure anyone who has met you is hoping the same thing. For your family to live a little closer to theirs. I'm praying for a little more than the woods and seasons and snow, for you... I pray you find that hidden gem..A place that is waiting for a family like yours to find it.. A place loved and cared for through the seasons and chapters of a good soul's life. A place with character, rich soils and in need of MINER care. I look forward to visiting this place someday. No matter how far away it is.. I selfishly pray its a little closer to me.

Love the photo of shophie and the lizard!!! That is about the size of my first lizzard exp..Living in Florida.. I saw a shaddow on the sliding glass door drapes and to my horror, realized the drapes were moving!!! Out came the broom and a wild chase on the couch to keep it from going under...It made it safley back out the door and I made sure that the screen was securely locked for the rest of the time i lived there..Had a palmetto bug chase me after a surprise attack in my bedroom , came through the air vent and dropped LOUD PLUNK!! Surprise!!!!While I was sleeping!! That one didn't end so pretty...
