Oreck Magnesium Giveaway!! ($600 value)
Right before Thanksgiving, I remember thinking, "I wish someone was hosting a vacuum cleaner giveaway or blogging campaign or SOMETHING" because my extended family was coming to spend a few nights, there was LOTS of cleaning to do, and my years' old vacuum was showing her age. I'm always hap...

I liked Oreck on FB too You'll just have to believe me on this one because I use my real name and keep everything private for friends only. (I'm conspiracy theorist lol)

The Magnesium produces 102 mph of airflow. Wow 102 mph that'll work :D Hubs told me today to do some research on some vacuums because we are in dire need.

I think it's great you're doing this because "parenting" has sadly become a lost art EVEN in Christendom. My youngest is now a junior in college, but may I take a minute to just remind those who are like me with children pretty much out of the home or even single people that we all can be "good parents" to any children we have contact with by keeping our testimony and "life" in front of them in line with the Scriptures. We're all under microscopes, and they're all taking it in so to God be the glory for producing more little Christ-like children then adults because of His grace in our lives.
Parenting with intention 31 Days of Parenting Teens & Tweens, Day 2
I remember it like it was yesterday, having dinner with strangers at a wedding reception. I don't think I was yet married, and I don't even recall whose wedding it was. What I do recall is the couple to my right and the way they spoke about their children. Their stories indicated their kids d...
We're golf fanatics; so it is especially WONDERFUL when we find out about their "personal" lives especially when we find out that they love the LORD and want to serve Him as much as we do. BECAUSE we're golf fanatics, our heart is that each one who is a follower of Christ will be the testimony they should be in order to be an avenue that other golfers will also accept Christ as their Lord and Savior! oh, and AMEN!
And you thought golf was humorless or boring...??!!

First beauty, now fashion...?!
Just because I'm not a niche beauty blogger doesn't mean I can't write about it; it's because I didn't already know everything about health and beauty that I agreed to sign on as a writer for Therapon's newly launched site. Well, that and the company's interest in exploring inner beauty, the ...
Put me down for both--Modesty and shape-ups :~) but don't hold your breath on VS caving #justsayin ;~)
True lies or true thighs?
When I heard the Tennessee Valley's weather forecast today--sunny and upper 70s--my short-lived happy dance was quickly replaced with the only appropriate response from a middle-aged mom of three teens: I ran through the house arms flailing overhead, a shrill strumming from my vocal chords shatt...
I already have you bookmarked, ;) but now bookmarked the Holiday Recipe Guide--thanks for the link!!
Puts the "good" in your morning: Sunrise Sausage Bake
Sometimes all I need to try something new is a swift kick in the tail little motivation. It's all too easy for me to reach for the same ol' tried and true recipes, so I was appreciative when One2One Network approached me to try, then share, a few recipes using Carnation Evaporated Milk. If you...
Me too!! Me too!! Big fan!! Looks like a great cd and will be buying it if I don't win it--did I just disqualify myself? LOL!
He croons, I swoon {ENTER to win your own copy of "Your Songs" by Harry Connick, Jr.}
Harry Connick, Jr. has a voice that penetrates marrow. Velvety and scrumptious and as easy on the ears as he is on the eyes, Harry always leaves you wanting more. When One2One Network extended the opportunity for me to review his latest release "Your Songs, "as a long-time fan I immediately ...
I posted this on my FB page to get comments as well--saw it on Bonnie Hunt's FB page first and seriously there's an uproar out there on it . . . thankfully! Hubs said, "UGLY!" Friend's 18 year old son said, "Way too skinny." Brother the geek said, "Photoshopped by an anorexic." I could stand to lose some weight (some is a relative term donchaknow) but nothing would compel me to run out and buy any of whatever it is they're trying to sell, the bod, the clothes, the way too big head!!
Excuse me?!! WHAT in the H@#$ are they selling?!
Is this Ralph Lauren Blue Lable jeans ad for real??? Or in the often-heard words of my 15-year-old son, "ARE YOU SERIOUS???" WHAT are they selling? a) Anorexia? b) Ridiculously poor Photoshop skills? c) Circus fun house mirrors? d) Bobble head dolls? e) Distorted self images? Does it co...
Sorry for the wince part :) On insanity reigns . . . SERIOUSLY!!
2009's "must-have" fashion necessity
It is rare for me to blog about fashion, but desperate times call for drastic measures. C l e a r l y, my services are needed. Allow me to explain by beginning with a question ~ SINCE WHEN DID CRACK GET PUT ON THE MENU?! Seriously, what was once reserved for babies with a loaded diaper, plumb...
Such a fun read . . . but powerful. I like the powerful--what are parents thinking? Or they're obviously not. :( Having three sons (and a husband for that matter) it's hard to even go out in public without being "accosted w/temptation." Thank you for making me feel like I'm not a lone "concerned mama" out there. So glad others feel the same way.
Ally fainted on the mail slot--I'm fainting on the DEBIT Card--even I'm not THAT hard up for cra- . . .er cash!!
On another note, have you seen the new Ralph Lauren ad? Bonnie Hunt posted it on her facebook page--low rise jeans on an anorexic. http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/photo.php?pid=2866741&id=25313536937 I hope it was photoshopped, the head was way to big for the body--but somebody probably had that body. So scary.
Sorry for length--had the "body suits" as well :) Made restroom trips a little tedious in school days, I'll tell ya!

LOL, been there, done that THRICE!! By the time the third one went through it, he got his driver's license, and a month later was taking solo trips to other states--who'da thunk!! We were a little more stringent with the oldest two.
So . . . it got easier for us . . . the oldest two are 23 months apart and then youngest is 7 years younger so by then we weren't adding gray hairs, we were SUBTRACTING them :0
Driving me CRAZY!
I'm convinced even under the best of circumstances, having teenagers in the house fertilizes the scalp for gray hair. Certainly relational angst contributes, as does juggling academics and extracurriculars, but the one thing that will clutch your heart like a wart-nosed witch's gnarly taloned f...
You're right; I had NO IDEA. It's unfathomable and my heart breaks for them.
God bless those who are giving of themselves to help these precious souls. Maybe because of the caring of this mission group, God will replace those awful chiggers with His redeeming love and grace, and they will come to know Him in a personal and everlasting way for that cleansing is just as needed as the de-chiggering.
...we have no idea...
{Warning...this video is graphic...I wasn't prepared for what I saw. My two-fold response? a) How dare I ever complain about anything, and b) What can I do to help?} How can I we just forget about it now that I we know this exists...? Via @mikerusch on Twitter, co-founder of Cobb...
One word: PRECIOUS!!
Fair of face, my Monday child
She was born on a Monday. Hers was not a delivery of water breaking and husband waking, contractions aching and "it's time!" mistaking; it was planned for convenience (my doctor's) and impatience (my own). My body signaled "ready" and when her due date came...and went...we chose her birth dat...
Kerfuffle is an Anne of Green Gables word! (yell-clap)
"A fool uttereth all his mind: but the wise keep it in until afterwards." Proverbs 29:11 (KJV because that version best fits the subject today--but it's really supposed to be about anger and temper--so just pretend! :) )
I'm not sure when "afterwards" is (lol)====> we'll leave that up to the "interpreter." ;)
My favorite word to use is beautimous. It's not real though--My BFF and I have been saying it 4-ever and I've seen it used a time or two in the land of El Bloggo/Internetsville.
If I had to pick a real word--languish (another AofGG word) and I've always liked the word obsequious because I had to spell it once in a spelling contest--(and I guessed rightly) it's not exactly definitive of me . . . although I'm tryin' ! ;)
Handcuffed, not blocked
Sometimes I'm taunted by the blank page when thought and word escape me. I'm reduced to the Scrabble player who, after studying the tiles for minutes measured in centuries, euphorically celebrates an eight-point, three-letter word. I cain't get no...sa-tis-fac-tion in that. Then there are the...
I'm so glad you said something about snakes in this scareyspider post so I would know better than to scroll down LOL!!!
Total Yucksville! I'm practically positive the name of that spider is creepazoid mono-slime-apod
Calling all arachnocologists!!
While I was elbow deep in cooking dinner last week, my son--heading out our back kitchen door--said, "Whoa...Mom... come look at what I almost walked into!" By the tone of his voice, I knew to drop what I was doing to see what he discovered. It was a spider web that stretched across the door fr...
Always thought Lincoln Logs and Play dough were the coolest :) And kaleidoscopes--loved those though they weren't really a toy per se, maybe. One thing that I always wanted but we weren't "rich" enough (lol) was that view finder with all those cool circular slides. Some of my friends had them and I really wanted one--maybe I did get one or did I get it for my own kids? hmmmm half-heimers kicking in again--can't remember.
While I'm licking my wounds...
Three things while I try my "best" to rewrite the post I was "this close" to publishing, the follow-up to A Time to Speak--somehow lost when I blinked [insert screeching, foot stomping and language that would earn me an "R" rating here]. [1] The movie version of Harry Potter and the Half-Bloo...
I'd like to live in THAT neighborhood! Mayberry RULES!
LOL on the extra 10 lbs. way tooooo funny!
No trombones led the little parade
Our neighborhood resurrected a years' old tradition last week, born of Mayberry and family and simpler times: a Fourth of July parade. We don't have 76 trombones or 110 cornets or a thousand reeds, but we do have air horns and car horns and I think a kazoo or two. Crowds don't fill...
What Dawn said!! :) I'd only change one thing and not use the "d***" in front of reckless :) (lol)
Even though we try to live in a world of "everything goes" that is not the Biblical way.
Stockholm Syndrome, Controversy and What Matters More?
Sometimes it's best not to know everything "they're" talking about, regardless of who "they" happens to be. Derek Webb, on/off/on-again/off-again/on again? lead singer for Caedmon's Call, has just digitally released his newest, highly anticipated and apparently label disconcerting solo album, ...
Oh--did I say I WAS as in past tense? --Silly me--still AM a lover of all things teensy!
Make believe and little girls
When I was a little girl, I had fizzy affection for all things "mini"--Hershey's chocolate bars and stuffed animals and oddly enough, office supplies. I'm convinced whoever invented Polly Pockets and Littlest Pet Shop toys was Just.Like.Me., and had I been a teaspoon brighter and a dash more r...
Great read --> as per ALWAYS :)
I was an eensy-teensy-philiac as well :) LOVED all things small--even when my children (all boys) rec'd toys I was drawn to those little eensy-teensy trucks and cars--MICRO machines!!! Loved 'em--I think they did too . . . which was good (lol).
One of my mom's many best friend's threw a wedding shower for me a gazillion years ago--I was in SC and they were in WI so they had the shower w/out me--and had a blast doing it! They brought their presents, wrapped them together, taped the devotional, ate (of course!!!) and then sent it all in a big box--mom's BF gave me a teensy card and teensy other stuff remembering how much I loved all things EENSY! That was soooo precious! :)
Thanks for always drawing up such wonderful memories.
BEAUTIMOUS Pics btw--so glad you took them so I don't have to get back in an airplane to see them--I shall leave that to you :)

Gonna try your perfect pie crust as well! And Oh goody!! more fun recipes to try "Tea Time at the Masters," and Rachel, and I adore Paula Deen's recipes, and . . . and . . . and!
Onion Pie, Tonguegasms & a Tasty Giveaway
It's a Southern delicacy I've only recently discovered, a culinary celebration of tongasmic* proportion: Vidalia Onion Pie. Making this and/or eating a slice must be included on your personal Bucket List, it's that good. Onions...in a pie...who would've thunk it? Then again, we are talking...
