I just love that magnificent old CBJ Snyder school. That the city is restoring it is very good news. It will look glorious and should lift the spirits of the arts organizations who inhabit it.

Re Maloney... What I don't get is why these pro-choice democratic women did not stand up against this horrible Stupak amendment in the first place. Clearly they have no backbone. I'm through with the lot of them.

I was at the meeting. Your report was fair and unbiased. As a member of the committee, I was unpleasantly surprised to see a bunch of loud protesters show up for a topic which has up until now been discussed in a respectful manner among members of the committee who represent quite a diverse set of viewpoints.

This is very useful. Even better would be to distinguish between coops and condos. Is this data just for the Lower East Side? More details, please. And keep up the good work!

I have just read the report. It is quite well done (if annoyingly colorful and ink-wasting when printed). There was little representation among the sponsoring organizations of those who live below Houston Street. There was no representation among that group for middle-income and above residents. Although there was some attempt at outreach, the analysis and conclusions represent the opinions of groups that strongly represent low-income housing advocates. While the report is useful, it must be taken with a grain of salt. Those of use who live in the area around SPURA want housing and enterprises there that blend in with our neighborhood, some of which has gentrified. Let's have a nice blend of market rate and affordable housing.

In general Community Board 3 does a great job. However, the SLA Committee gives it a bad name. A seven hour meeting is just unconscionable. The right of the public to be heard is defeated by such a long wait. I say disband the SLA Committee and reconstitute it with a new Chair who can run the meetings more efficiently.

I agree with Noah. However, the tourists easily passed Guss on Orchard. It is near the Tenement Museum. THey may not find their way over to the Pickle Guys.
