I learned how to make the perfect Cuban coffee from my dad when I was like 12. I learned how to cook, though, from Emeril, Rachael Ray, and, most importantly, Alton Brown. The only food I really can't cook is Cuban food and that makes me sad. I just can't do it like Abuela so I don't. :/ Lately my favorite recipe is Pho.

# Do you use Bisquick? If so, what do you make with it? I have Bisquick and had no idea how to use it. It's been in my pantry for over a year. Now I can make CHURROS!!! # What would you stuff your churros with? Leche Condensada

The question is How DON'T I do coffee? I have to have it first thing in the morning or I get the 4 o'clock headache. In the morning its instant espresso powder in scalded milk. In the afternoon, if I get sluggish, I use a french press which I discovered makes THE BEST "American" coffee. I grind my own beans for that. I only go to Starbucks from Sept-Jan. for the Pumpkin Spice latte (hot or cold). Of course, I use a cefetera to make Cuban coffee at home also. I own 3 different sizes. I can't live without coffee!

My favorite cupcake on Earth is this Coconut Cupcake: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ina-garten/coconut-cupcakes-recipe/index.html I didn't even eat coconut until my brother forced me to taste them and now I love coconut! My family asks me to make them for any and every occasion! They are heavenly with coffee!! P.S. I recently started to toast the coconut before putting it on the frosting and they taste even better.

I don't like typical breakfast food. I grew up ONLY liking cafe con leche and some sort of galleta or bread. Then I started eating cinnamon oatmeal that I put inside my cafe con leche. I also like pizza and any kind of dinner leftovers for breakfast.(with cafe con leche, of course) But my all time favorite is still cafe con leche and toasted Cuban Bread with lots of butter, dipped in, of course.

* Are you personally related to or do you know any Pedro Pans? My father in law is a Pedro Pan. Thankfully, he was reunited with his parents. I don't really know the details, though. * Is this the first time you've heard about the Pedro Pan exodus? No, but I didnt know it was so many children. Ivis

I only remember watching TV when I was young :/ BUT as a current Pre-K teacher, I can tell you what books I love now: Anything by Mo Willems. He writes hilarious books. My favorite is The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog.

Dad, Pinar del Rio. Mom, Oriente. Dad came in 1965. He was 9 and the story of how he(and my grandparents, aunt, and uncle) got here is scary and hilarious. Mom came in 1969 after living a year in Spain. It was just her, my grandfather, and my uncle. My grandmother stayed with her oldest married daughter and didn't come until 1980. I have some family in Cuba but mostly Tio Abuelos and distant cousins I've never met.

I didn't realize my husband was listening to the video. At the end, he says "el tiki tiki is when my wife drinks too much and can't stop talking." LOL

Yes I do know! I use light olive oil for sauteing because the EVOO(lol) has a low smoke point and burns. I use Extra Virgin mostly for dressings and to flavor foods. Peanut oil is my fave to use for Asian cooking and I use canola, veggie, or corn for any kind of frying because of their very high smoke point. Also, Canola, veggie, and corn dont taste like anything so i use them for baking. I'm such a food nerd. :)

I make my "latte" every morning. It might sound blasphemous, but I make it with instant espresso applied directly to the hot milk(which I steam in a pot; I hate the microwave). I only make the cafe' from scratch if I am drinking it straight.

When my dad's family came over in 1969, my grandfather started working in restaurants like he did in El Morrillo and eventually bought one out a few years later. It delivered cantinas here in Miami up until about 10 years ago. My grandmother and all my aunts and uncles worked there at one time or another. Our families livelihood came from "cantinas" and, even though we don't deliver anymore, we still call the restaurants "La Cantina."

I don't have a cute or funny batido story. And while I'd like to say I am a Mamey, or a Trigo, or, forget the milk, just-give-me-a-Guarapo, I AM A CHOCOLATE-PEANUT BUTTER MILKSHAKE. Although the Salted Caramel might change all this..... Looks like you had a blast!!
