Give Away Day!! Yay!!
Yay! It's time for Give Away Day!! A huge thanks to Beth at Sew Mama Sew for organizing this fun day twice a year! Run over to her blog and look at the whole list of participants and join in. You might end up with some fun goodies! And don't give me that "I never win anything" whine because ...
ANGELA! Thank you soooooo much for these items! I hope you got my thank you card--your'e the best and these are fantastic! I've printed out your tutorials and am now scrambling to make some for Christmas!
Ahhhh...Accessories!
I lovelovelove coordinating accessories I can lug around in my purse. I am secretly thrilled at the idea that everything inside my handbag matches, especially when everthing outside my purse is so whacked and chaotic! It's like, well, my own little oasis of peace, where I know the location of ...
This looks great--I love shirring/smocking! Nice job!
Shirred Singapore Sundress
Wow! I wore a dress I made today, so seized the moment and remembered to photo it, in the spirit of catching up my backlog of refashions. Technically speaking, this isn't a refashion, since it started life as a 2 metre piece of fabric a friend of my mum's brought back from Singapore, but I'm cou...
I live in Pennsylvania--about an hour north of Philadelphia. The fabric store is locally owned and operated by a really great older gentleman, and he is awesome!
Weekend projects
Got a lot done this weekend, two clothing items and one baby blanket. The clothing items were made from $1 a yard fabric from a locally owned fabric store, gotta love it! The white patterned dress was my first attempt at making a lining on something that didn't call for it in the pattern and the...
Thank you so much! Everyone has been waaay too kind! :) Happy Monday!

That mobile is awesome! I'm definitely bookmarking that for the one day when I have a little one!
Stephanie N reports: why I haven't been refashioning in recent weeks...
I have been dying to share this, but had to wait until my friend received it in the mail, in case she's been peeking at WR. She and her husband recently welcomed baby Gogo (a Bulgarian pet name for George) into the world, so this is what I made for them. I really hope the video works: But i...
I purchased that fabric this past year at Jo-ann's and made a little bag out of it! Super cute skirt!
A New New Look
I'm still trying out new skirt patterns! This time, New Look 6758. The fabric is a mystery to me. I know it's from JoAnn's, but I don't remember buying it. Usually that means it was a remnant, but there was too much of it for that to be so. Hmm. The pattern was okay. I'll try it again ...
Your yellow dress looks great! I'm not sure if I'm ready to sew w/o a pattern on a dress but this looks totally doable! LOVE IT!
Some Finished Projects
Hello, It's been great seeing everyone's creations on this site. I love it! This skirt is the salvage of my failed attempt at sewing a dress from a retro pattern. The dress was not made, but at least I have a skirt to show for it: This yellow dress is another self-drafting attempt. I thin...
That owl fabric is too precious! Is it a designer or where did you get it if you don't mind me asking?
P. Cardin Trench Refashioned to Messenger Bag
I wanted to make a messenger bag for my sister's birthday present. I used the tutorial on mmmcrafts. It called for some heavy weight fabric and I wanted it to be water proof too. So I hit my local goodwill and found this Pierre Cardin men's trench coat for $8. It had a few oily looking stains an...
That skirt is amazing! I'm going to have to try those flowers on a future refasion.
My first post in WAYYYYY too long...
I could provide you with a list of excuses for not posting (new job in addition to old job, camera out of batteries and battery shortage, creation of sewing room...) but it comes down to being lazy. I have been refashioning, and I haven't bought any new clothes (although I have bought some skirt...

That fabric is perfect for this dress! Love it!
Super Dress Shirt
I found this great men's shirt at the thrift store a few weeks back. It is this grayish color with really thin stripes and GREAT embroidery. I thought it would make a fabulous little girl dress. Tutorial on my friend Dana's site...MADE. The before photo I took was way blurry that I didn't not...
They are from a Lion Brand booklet I purchased at Michael's in the yarn section. They have a ton of free similar patterns though on their web site, www.lionbrandyarn.com Have fun!
Some more baby gifts
Crafted a bunch of baby gifts for my BFF's son. Included is an "executive" bib with a little tie, two crocheted stuffed animals, and a dressed up travel wipes case. There will definitely be more animals to come soon, this lion and hippo turned out very cute! There are a lot more projects on the ...

I love that red part of the dress! I'd love it if my sister made me something like that!
Hey Hey Hay!
Hello everyone! I'm back, I first did the WR in 2007! I did it for 6 months, and although I was great at the not buying anything new part, I was horrible at the re-fashioning part! I'm now back with a goal to re-fashion more! My name is emy and I am a "ADD crafter" I love to do it all but ha...

Stephanie N reports: an "ease-y" alteration, and a funky sweater-to-cardi modification
I've signed on for two more months. Thanks again for making me feel so welcome in this creative and resourceful online community! Two things to share from this past week: 1) An ease-y alteration... please excuse the terrible pun. I've always wanted this blouse to be just a tad more fitted thr...

Wow, what a great find for only $1! Good job!
Bed skirt to Skirt
I found this beautiful crib bed skirt @ goodwill for $1 a couple of weeks ago. I had little girl skirts on my mind when I purchased it. Here is a picture of it once I had ripped out some of the seams (and taken it off of the large piece of material that sits under the mattress). I measured...
The print on the bag is amazing--I need to find a place that sells Amy Butler by me!
Summer!
Yes, it's summer. I've already heard the first "I'm Bored" from my children, and I promptly set them to work folding socks and changing the sheets on their beds. They very quickly found something interesting to do outside. In the sunshine. With each other! (Good Mama!) Here is my most re...
I love the new shirts that have crocheted motifs on them--almost like a doily of sorts. Very vintage too. You could also put a cute appliqued shape on your cardigan to cover the stains, which could be very cute. There are lots of ideas on this site, just poke around a bit.
As far as thrifting goes, I have relaly only bought linens to use as fabric. I've done this with tablecloths, sheets, pillowcases, and curtains. I think though you need to look more at the shape--don't tackle anything too hard right away or you'll just get frustrated! I haven't done anything huge yet but some of the ladies on this site are AMAZING for inspiration!
Question for all you clever refashionistas out there
I have a jeans jacket ( its acutally a man's jacket) that I have had for several years. I would like to update it - maybe embellish it a bit. Any ideas? Also, I have a cardigan that has some stains on it ( small) and I am looking for embellishment ideas to hide the stains and make it wearable a...
So precious! A great summer dress!
Smocked Sundress from Vintage Linen
I made this dress from a vintage linen table runner. Pattern is from the Heather Ross "Weekend Sewing" book. My daughter Willow loves it!
To tea dye I just put a kettle of water on the stove and let it get really hot and then poured the water over 9 tea bags in a Tupperware-type plastic basin and let it steep for a little bit, take the bags out, and then stuck my white tank top in it for about an hour. I swished the shirt around for awhile. I then rinsed the shirt and hung it to drip dry in my shower. There are some darker parts to it, but overall it looks good.
Button tank top!
Made my first project using my thrift store button haul. Took a tank top undershirt from my husband that he never worre, tea dyed it, and sewed a bunch of buttons around the neckline. It's draped a little funny on my dress form, but you can get the idea. Pretty cute for practically nothing!
