As a child, I wanted to do and be everything possible. A ballerina, singer, social worker, writer, nurse, etc. The one thing that was consistent throughout the years, however, was the desire to write.

For This World is Full of Zanies and Fools...
...and I work with/teach a lot of them. Public education, at least in some counties in North Carolina (I can't speak for every city/state in the nation), is a joke. Pure and simple. As I discussed in my previous blog, students nowadays aren't held responsible for practically any of their actions, especially when it comes to their academics. (Ironic, isn't it? And disturbing.) I've been teaching my students (juniors in high school) how to do a research paper now for two months. I've broken down every. single. soli.tary. part. Originally, their papers were due November 2; then I gave them... Continue reading

Why Does Teaching Always Feel Like a Battlefield?
(Note: I know this is off topic for my blog, but it needs to be addressed.) Our public education system is in disarray. The students whine and cry to get their way…and it works. The parents call and complain to get their way…and it works. So, why are teachers wasting their time attempting lessons when nobody’s listening, and why are we wasting money on a principal, who is nothing more than a figure head? The students and parents are the ones who run the schools, and we’re in a recession, after all. Gone are the days when parents scolded their... Continue reading

"People Google Us All the Time"
First of all, I'd just like to say that I'm home sick and my head is spinning a little from my cold medicine and I should be in bed, BUT I can't sleep until I say something about the drama surrounding my high school reunion. If there are any typos, somewhat incoherent sentences, etc., blame it on the med med med med med med. i. cine. Blame it on the... I know this is off topic, and I haven't written in a couple of months, but when something nags and nags at me, my brain just won't let it go... Continue reading

The pageview records never show (in chart form). It just constantly looks like it's working to pull them up, but they never appear.

To Love, or Never Love? That is the Question.
Ok, here's a question post for this week. Is it really better to have loved and lost than never loved at all? I know many people have strong feelings about one side or the other, so express them here and share why you feel this way. If you're opinion falls somewhere in the middle, explain that too. I'd really like to know your opinions on this one. I've felt both ways at some point in my life: EX: If you've never loved, you don't know what you're missing; on the other hand, do you think people who've never loved still... Continue reading

@E2D2 Thanks...glad I don't sound mean. :) Unfortunately in this case, even if he wasn't a stalker, I wouldn't be interested in him...that's why I didn't want him to call me in the first place. No attraction, not an interesting conversation, etc. Oh well..."move on to the next." LOL.
"I Love You Long Time." No Thanks, Really. I'm Good.
Photo Credit:©iStockphoto.com/BookMama So, I decided to take some advice from some of my readers and Twitter followers, and ditch my passive-aggressive ways, at least this one time...this is a special case. Yet, the travesty that is my "Wal-Mart Stalker" continues as we speak...literally. H...
Budget Friendly Vacay Tips for the Single Girl
You need a vacation. Every Monday, you’re counting down the days until Friday, your boss is stressing you out over nonsense, and if a client cusses you out one more time, you just might lose your job. You know you need a vacation. A person can only take so much… You keep trudging to work though, sour attitude and all, all because you think, “Vacation? Ha! I can’t afford a vacation!” (I don’t have two incomes, remember?) But…indeed you can! Here are some tips to make sure you get the relaxation you need (for the sake of yourself, your co-workers,... Pheromones Anyone?
Last summer, I read an article about how birth control pills can screw up relationships because they may cause women to be attracted to the wrong man. Apparently, the pill messes with a woman's ability to "sniff out" a man with a different genetic make-up, thus causing a woman to "sniff out" a...
