Fair Play Enables Harmony To Be Maintained ( By Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew from Yahoo! News)
Providing everyone with equal opportunities is key to ensuring Singapore continues to fare well, said Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew on Friday. He pointed to the Republic’s 14.7 per cent economic growth in 2010 – thanks to a boost from the tourism and manufacturing sector – and said that the Ministry of Trade and Industry’s forecast of 4 to 6 per cent growth in 2011 is not bad for a mature economy like Singapore, reported Channel NewsAsia. “To keep this going at this stage, we need several things,” said Mr Lee, who was speaking at the annual Tanjong Pagar Lunar... Bandung Soda, Rose Coffee and Many More...
I came back home feeling a craving for many of the local food. I tried many yummilicious cuisine ie Wan Ton noodles, Hainanese Chicken Rice, Fried Fish Porridge, Hor Fun, Japanese Ramen, Chawanmushi etc etc... The price did not stop me from trying these food out as my craving overtook my concern for the price. I inquired a fellow friend of mine on what are the local beverages that I should not miss out on. The answer was that the list was long, oh my, there were addition to the already widely known Milo Dinosaur. Rose Coffee which is a... Continue reading

Shopping At Bugis Village, Singapore
It was though a crowd to be at Bugis Village today but it was worth my time and the squeezing with other people... I passed by a street stall selling loads of fruit juice. U can buy most at Sing one dollar or at most two dollars and it was such a bargain. The juice is freshly squeezed and vitamins should be preserved in it still... I also got myself a camel coloured bag that looked like a million bucks but looks were deceptive as the bag only cost me a mere 15 dollars!:) There were many other available designs... Power of Eating Healthily
I wake up craving for my cuppa but have been trying hard to abstain from caffeine as it has harmful effects on my unborn. Yes, now I am having another baby! I have dreams for it, dreams that it will become a great person, useful and contributing to the society. I have been watching my diet more rigorously since another life is growing inside of me. I gulped my cup of honey, steaming hot this morning. I ate my Mozarella cheese and this is a common breakfast food for my family and took a few green olives stuffed with tomatoes.... Continue reading

Jet-Lag Causes Long-Term Memory Loss
This article is taken from Yahoo! News. International travelers may feel tired and forgetful for up to a month after returning to a normal schedule because jet-lag causes long term changes in the brain, a US study said Wednesday. Similar brain disruptions could be experienced by anyone who works alternating night-day shifts or unusual schedules, said the study which is the first to look at long-term effects of such lifestyle changes on brain anatomy. "What this says is that, whether you are a flight attendant, medical resident, or rotating shift worker, repeated disruption of circadian rhythms is likely going to... Continue reading

4 Foods That Keep Your Skin Looking Younger
This is a recent post taken from Yahoo! I am glad I am a great fan of tomatoes, Tofu and tuna... The first two foods are commonly found in Yong Tau Foo which is almost a staple for me... Maybe that is why I have managed to look youthful despite having put myself through high workload throughout my life... The other princliple we do have to practise is to have lots of beauty sleep. My mother can swear by that as she looks 20 years younger than her age right now as she has a strict bedtime at 9pm for... Continue reading

Innovation Is Crucial In Our Globalised World
We should strive and try all ways to be innovative as this will help differentiate us from others. The creativity that we show will enable us to stand out from the crowd and shine. I am not saying we have to throw away old traditions but whatever that works for us from the old ways of thinking, we should absorb but whichever that is not beneficial and which will stand in the way of innovation, we should put it aside and not give it too much attention. The world is changing and becoming more globalised. If we hang onto old... Continue reading

Tragedy In Phnom Penh
Many innocent lives were lost on Monday due to a stampede event near the Diamond Island. There were about 400 people killed and another 350 injured according to the reports. It was all because of over-crowding on a bridge and lack of proper policing provided by the Cambodian authorities. There were rumours that boys who were trying to tease some girls shouted that the bridge was going to fall and that caused the widespread fear and chaos. If the police had controlled the number of people going onto the bridge, many lives could have been saved...Relatives that came to identify... Continue reading

Persistence and Hardwork Is The Key
I was doing some kind of self-reflection on my life to see if my life has been lived in a worthwhile way... Now I am approaching my mid 30s and I am not sure how many more years I have to live. For some, death can come unexpectedly and suddenly ( while I am writing this, I remembered my cousin dying in his teens when he was an active kid, having many friends and having a bright future ahead of him but when death knocked on the door, it took him only one year to leave this earth); for others,... Prevention Is Better Than Cure For Osteoporosis
A very useful article on Prevention of Osteoporosis... Software Engineer Karen Liew’s mother suffered from osteoporosis three years ago and she is worried that, with her current sedentary lifestyle, she might be at risk of contracting the disease as well. Karen’s mother, Mdm Yam was diagnosed with osteoporosis and scoliosis in 2006 and is currently taking medication and regular private Tai Chi lessons on a weekly basis. Prior to taking up Tai Chi lessons, Mdm Yam had been taking calcium tablets for 2 years as prescribed by the doctor. Instead of showing signs of improvements, her bone mass density has... Back Home... Home Is Where the Heart Is...
My family is back in Singapore for a holiday... It was a great reunion after months of separation... The people I missed and the food is something that I look forward to having... We headed to the nearby hawker centre with a great selection of food and fill our stomachs to our heart's content...The LANGUAGE that we greatly missed is once again ringing in our ears... We hear English or u call it SINGLISH with the 'ahs' and the 'lors' and the Mandarin that has practically not heard at all in the kingdom of Cambodia is now used so commonly... Continue reading
