Too funny! I like the Dedication one best. My son (and husband, actually) would relate. Elizabeth
Great story! I was in your boat with the sofa just 3 weeks ago. I was so surprised when the charity asked me if the sofa was in good shape! Recycling sometimes is pretty tough. But my children (who apparently are brainwashed at school to recycle), will fuss at me if I don't do it. Elizabeth http://mysterywritingismurder.blogspot.com/

I blogged on the same story this morning! Just goes to show how fast bad publicity travels online--and how many people are reached. Like Sarah mentioned above, I thought the review was okay, too. After all, Silman basically stated it wasn't up to par with Hoffman's other, excellent, books. Elizabeth http:mysterywritingismurder.blogspot.com

I love Loise Penny's books for the very reasons you stated. They provide a wonderful escape from reality. "Gentle mysteries" should certainly get a lot more respect--after all, they definitely sell. Elizabeth www.mysterywritingismurder.blogspot.com

Oh, I like skorts! Good point here about making sure of your reader's motivation when you give them your ms to proofread. That's why I'm a bit leery of critique groups... Elizabeth http://mysterywritingismurder.blogspot.com/

Like Norby, I'm in North Carolina. Right now we're just having the pop-up t-storms in the heat of the day. Let's hope hurricane season isn't bad, though!
