He was truly gifted, not only as a dancer and a coreographer. His thinking was profound, the connections between art, physics and philosophy always fascinating and thought provoking, never obvious. A wonderful Magister Ludi. Typical example?? When he linked Einstein's statement about not being fixed points in space to coreography and dancing: " It was like a flash of lightning, felt well that's marvellous for the stage. Instead of thinking it's front and centre, a point, to allow any point, very Buddhist, any point in the space to be as important as any other. It opened the way one could think..." (1).
But then, i read the following:
"My work is- at least what I attempt to do- is to take each person for what they are" (2)
..and i decided that this will be his legacy for me, like other bits of legacies from other men and women: gifts that keep me thinking, inspired and going. something closer to my real sense of self and that will help me not to forget, when i am too driven by ambition, what is really important....
