Our staff follows Doctor Who rumors throughout the year, but we don't put much stock in them until there's an official announcement, because hey, anyone can post anything on the Internet. For instance, the story of Jodie Whittaker leaving at the end of series 11 turned out to be complete hogwash. That's why we didn't pay much attention to people who claimed to know that series 12 won't air until 2020. However, the BBC just confirmed that this is true. We're trying not to overreact, but the current feeling here is that the rest of 2019 is shot after "Resolution"... Continue reading

It's time for the final regular season adventure of series 11, as the Doctor and friends receive multiple distress calls from the same planet and arrive to find a familiar foe waiting for them. Is this a strong finale? Let's discuss... Warning: Spoilers ahead Observations: First off, we're glad to see it looks like we're going to close things out this year with another proper science fiction story. Now, let's see where it goes. The Doctor and crew land on a planet that emits psychotropic waves that mess with your mind in all sorts of ways, so they've got to... Continue reading

Hi everyone, Welcome back! Come on in, have a seat. How are you? We were just looking at the calendar and realizing that sunsets start getting later towards the end of this week. Sure, it's just an extra minute on Thursday, but a minute here, a minute there, and it starts adding up pretty quickly, so we're excited about that! We also realized there are three weeks left to 2018, and we want to end the year on a strong note, so let's start by checking out today's headlines. The guys made some coffee, so help yourself to a nice... Continue reading

Hi everyone, Welcome back! Come on in, have a seat. How are you? Everyone is fine here at the moment. We were just looking at the extended weather forecast. Looks like we've got a cold week ahead, so it's a good thing we've already done our annual heating system maintenance. There appears to be some snow coming in about 10 days. Don't care for that at all, but we'll deal with that when it gets closer. In the meantime, the guys say the coffee is ready, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Sunday... (We'll try to keep this spoiler-free, but no guarantees!) After what feels like eons, the first Avengers: Endgame trailer finally dropped! We were all of 10 seconds into it before we marked April 26, 2019 down in the calendar to see how this story ends. As always, the first word that comes to mind when watching this clip is "epic." People are sad, people are dying, people are dead, and then some other people show up, and it's game on. Can't wait! Because we're trying to avoid spoilers, here is a vague question: Who do you think will be more... Continue reading

There's been some silliness on the Internet recently (shocking, right?), as rumors were circulating that showrunner Chris Chibnall and star Jodie Whittaker would be leaving Doctor Who at the end of series 11. The story was no doubt some wishful thinking put out by a sad guy who's still irate that the Doctor is now "a girl." However, we can put the rumors to rest, because Jodie Whittaker confirmed that she'll be back for series 12. This is great news, as Whittaker has done a fantastic job making her mark as the 13th Doctor this year. (The ratings reflect that,... Continue reading

Hi everyone, Welcome back, and a happy Friday to you all! Any big plans for the weekend? I don't think we've got anything major happening, besides me trying to make some progress on the Christmas shopping. I've got friends who have everything done by the end of Cyber Monday, which I envy, but my internal clock just doesn't work that fast. BDH and Little Buddha asked me what I want this year, and I told them it's the same thing I ask for every year - for them to continue hanging out with me and the Clutter Tree. They beamed... Gary is marking his one-year anniversary of being in remission, but what should be a happy event brings up a lot of anger, as the members of this group have complicated bereavement issues to process. Warning: Spoilers ahead Observations: It's nice to see Jon back in the picture since he's been gone for a few episodes. Of course he was there when Gary was getting his chemo treatments. Gary doesn't like looking at a blank wall in the hospital? Jon gets a picture to hang on the wall. We still don't know all that much about Mr. Dixon at this... Continue reading

Hi everyone, Welcome back! How are you? I'm still following directions from my medical team (i.e. BDH and Little Buddha) and trying to take it easy. I think I sound and feel a bit better than I did yesterday, so hopefully this cold will wrap up soon. Speaking of wrapping, if anyone has any ideas about Christmas presents for the guys, drop us a line at bitsofclutter@gmail.com. I'd love to surprise them with something that's not on their lists. Oh, here they come. It looks like we've got some coffee, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's... Continue reading

Hi everyone, Welcome back! Come on in, have a seat. How are you? We had a bit of an adventure around here when I took a stumble in the middle of the night last night and hit my head and back against a door frame. Don't know what the hell happened, except that the floors here can be a little slippery at times, but I just went straight down. Anyway, I'm fine, except that I'm under strict orders (from BDH and Little Buddha) to take it easy today. I just have a couple of tasks that have to be done,... Continue reading

Hi everyone, Welcome back! Come on in, have a seat. How are you? Yesterday was a bit of a grind here. We had a three hour service window for something. That's fine, except the guy was still 40 minutes late, and the actual task took longer than it was supposed to, so we were stuck waiting for about six hours before everything was resolved. However, I ran out the door a minute after he left and managed to take care of some errands that needed to be done yesterday, so it all worked out in the end. BDH and Little... Continue reading

The Doctor and friends come across a girl who is scared of a monster and missing her dad. It's a set-up for a standard adventure, but then things go in an unexpected direction. Warning: Spoilers ahead Observations: Why is the Doctor having so much trouble controlling the TARDIS this season? Did something happen to our favorite blue box between the time #12 turned into #13, and the time when they were reunited in The Ghost Monument? The "Wooly Rebellion" doesn't sound like a good time. Honestly, there's a decent chance we would have tried to join the sheep. Cheers to... Continue reading

Hi everyone, Welcome back, and a happy Monday to you all! It looks like things will get off to a quiet start for our crew this week, because I appear to be losing my voice. Thankfully, BDH and Little Buddha have outstanding hearing, so we'll be able to get by with light whispering if needed. The guys did some research on the Internet, and they've instructed me to drink plenty of liquids, starting with today's coffee. They've got a fresh pot ready, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Clutter. Former FBI Director James... Continue reading

Hi everyone, Welcome back! How are you? It's looking ugly outside right now as the freezing rain falls. Thankfully it's supposed to warm up in a bit, so the roads shouldn't be too bad later in the day. We got our tickets for two out of three Red Sox spring training games yesterday! The Minnesota Twins start selling their tickets on Tuesday, but even just getting these two games at face value makes us feel like we're already ahead for this trip. Meanwhile, I'm dealing with what feels like the world's slowest-developing cold. BDH and Little Buddha say they have... Continue reading

The holidays are right around the corner, and we've got the perfect present for the Boston Red Sox fan in your life. Major League Baseball is releasing, “The 2018 World Series: Damage Done,” on December 4. This 80-minute DVD will let your loved ones relive the glory of the 2018 season, as the greatest team in Red Sox history (not counting 2004, which is in a category of its own), ran over everyone on the way to their fourth championship in the last 14 years. This is the sort of gift which makes staying up for all 400 hours of... Continue reading

Hi everyone, Welcome back, and a happy Friday to you all! Any big plans for the weekend? Nothing too crazy here, except that spring training tickets go on sale tomorrow morning, so hopefully we'll be able to get them straight from the Red Sox, rather than paying about 3x more through another site. Fingers crossed! In the meantime, let's have a look at today's headlines. BDH and Little Buddha just brought in a fresh pot of coffee, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, because it's time to clear out some Clutter. Of course, the big news is that... Continue reading

Welcome back, everyone! We hope you had a lovely Thanksgiving. It's been a couple of weeks since we saw this crew, and all of their problems were solved during the break! Just kidding, they're a mess as this week's episode of A Million Little Things touches on the anguish people sometimes face when they feel helpless to stop the loss of a loved one. Let's discuss... Warning: Spoilers ahead Observations: We start with Maggie pretty clearly dreaming as she's facing a plane crash with a guy named "Chad," who's drinking while he's flying the aircraft. The Cure's "Lovesong" plays in... Continue reading

Hi everyone, Welcome back! How are you? I went to the gym for the first time in 10 days yesterday. Gotta make sure that fun in December doesn't wreck my physical in January. It was good to get back in there, but somehow the weights seem to have gotten heavier, and my arms are a little sore this morning. BDH and Little Buddha offered to handle the writing today, but I reminded them that they don't know how to type, so they said they'd stick with the coffee. (Plus, I can't let them do"everything" around here.) They just made a... Continue reading

Hi everyone, Welcome back! How are you? We're just plugging away on this end. BDH and Little Buddha are still working on their Christmas lists. They're particularly interested in getting some new books to read, so let us know if you have any suggestions. They're also trying to find a present for the Clutter Tree, so any thoughts there would also be appreciated. In the meantime, they made some coffee, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Wednesday Clutter. It's disappointing, although unsurprising to see that Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith beat Mike Espy in yesterday's... Continue reading

Hi everyone, Welcome back! Come on in, have a seat. It's a bit ugly out there at the moment, but I think it's supposed clear up this afternoon. At least no major shoveling will be required. However it sounds like the roads are a mess, so be careful if you're driving today. I had a number of odd dreams last night. The details don't really matter, but they involved pairings of random people I know and locations that I haven't thought of recently/ever. I asked BDH and Little Buddah if they also had any weird dreams, but they said theirs... Continue reading

Author Neil Gaiman has written some of our all-time favorite stories, including Sandman, Good Omens, American Gods, and The Doctor's Wife. He's got a wonderfully creative mind which has led us into worlds of darkness, fantasy, and whimsy, and he strikes a chord for us in a way that is distinctly Gaiman-esque. We consider him a creative role model in many ways, so that's why we were excited to check out his new book: Art Matters: Because Your Imagination Can Change the World. (Release date: November 20, 2018.) The book is a collection of four previous Gaiman essays, which are... Continue reading

The Doctor and friends accidentally stumble into 17th century witch trials and find out there's more going on than meets the eye. This week's episode swings hard at religious intolerance and misogyny, while also throwing in an alien threat. Let's discuss... Warning: Spoilers ahead Observations: First off, can we just talk about the opening credits again? The visuals and revised theme music do a tremendous job of setting the stage for each week's adventure. We'd argue this is the best sequence of the modern era. (Tom Baker's original credits will always be our favorite.) Does anyone want to argue for... Continue reading

Hi everyone, Welcome back! How are you? Any big plans for the week? We imagine a lot of you will be scouring the Internet for some Cyber Monday deals today. Good luck with that. BDH and Little Buddha are still working on their lists, so we're still holding off on our shopping at the moment. We've got a number of other errands to take care of, so this should be a pretty busy week. For now, let's see what's going on in the world. The guys say the coffee is ready, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and... Continue reading

Hi everyone, Welcome back! Come on in, make yourself comfortable. How are you? The plumber came and fixed our heating issue on Friday, which is good, but it blew a hole in this month's budget, so we're going to wait until December to start our Christmas shopping. That's just as well, it gives BDH and Little Buddha more time to work on their lists. Other than that, it's business as usual around here. The guys say the coffee is ready, so help yourself to a nice medium DD, and let's clear out some Sunday Clutter. It's great to hear that... Continue reading

Hi everyone, Welcome back! How are you? We hope you all had a lovely Thanksgiving, and we're pretty sure a number of you already hit the stores for Black Friday. You couldn't pay us to go near a store today. We're focusing on more exciting things like a furnace problem first thing this morning. BDH and Little Buddha already left a message for the heating company. Happy Friday! Let's see what's going on in the world while we wait for a call back. (Oh, hold on, they're coming later this morning. Sweet.) The guys made some coffee, so help yourself... Continue reading
