Happy birthday, Jeff! And, shouldn't the Emperor of Publishing be a paid position as well as a lifetime one?

MJ, that just sucks.

Good post. But I'm still trying to figure out how the fly pushed the button.

Fuck it. There. Two birds, one stone.

If you were on Twitter, you'd know what Janet Reid just wrote about you...

My condolences to you all.

Brilliant, Jeff. I especially liked this: "Friends don't let friends write bad."

Oh, Alison! I'm weeping and laughing for that star struck young girl. What a sweet story. Some day I'll tell you mine... Did he remember you when you met him later in college?

Do the rest of us have to call Sophie that? Because I will. And are you gonna make people call you The Agent Representing 2010 Edgar Nominee Sophie Littlefield?

Congratulations, Alison! Large wedding, small wedding? How much madness are we talking about? Congrats also on all the good stuff going on at Tyrus! I'll go check out the podcasts.

I admit I was waiting for you to pull an inky cloak out of its plastic home.

Okay, I'll bite. What did the Hilton do to you? Or not do?

Q:”What if you get pregnant while you’re my agent?” A: Don’t worry, it’s not yours. I cracked up over that one!

Has your daughter tried Lycoming College in Pennsylvania? Totally agree with you about the two bathtubs. The other one is the couple on the bed outside. Can't remember the product. Sleep number bed? Mattress sale?

I heard about Sophie Littlefield over on Janet Reid's blog months ago. I invited Sophie to guest blog at Working Stiffs last week. She did a great job, and a lot of us are looking forward to reading her book. We'll each buy a copy, I promise. Congrats on the great EW review!

Y'know what else isn't funny, Jeff? Reading A Night at the Operation, and knowing it's the last Elliot book. But you are working on something else, right?

Beautifully written, Jeff. We're fortunate to've grown up watching Walter Cronkite. I watched the tribute last night--wishing it were longer. My husband and I were finding it difficult to come up with another person with such integrity. For the past week, I was happy to see that Uncle Walter had the media attention he deserved.

I enjoy your posts. You're funny, and a good storyteller. I admire how you always manage to weave personal stories with your job as an agent. Very impressive.

Oh, man. I'm sorry to hear this, Jeff. I became a recent fan of Elliot. I'm glad I have all three books--have read the first two already. Now I'll be reading the third with a touch of sadness. Good luck tomorrow night, and don't forget to have fun!
