New Found Glory It's kinda funny how the random song fits appropriately with the mood of the post. Because basically I was going to pop in and say hello. As in "my posts are pretty hit and miss." Or something like that. It's been a weird week. It's been a long week, despite the holiday on Monday. Next week will, I'm sure, be worse. But that's what makes life interesting, isn't it? Goo Goo Dolls I thought I'd update since there's actually news happening around the area. The President is visiting this week. Yesterday and today he's in the tri-state area. Not exactly sure what prompted the visit, but I think it has something to do with energy because yesterday he visited a plant that manufactures wind turbines. Today, I think, it's a biodiesel plant. And Quincy is looking into hydro-electricity because of the river. Anyway, he's speaking this afternoon at the civic center. I probably should be going, but I really didn't want to wait in line for tickets. I'm not... Continue reading

by Tonic So, I'm still really behind on updates. There hasn't been a whole lot going on, though, so I guess that's good. It's winter. The weather has been yucky, but it could be a lot worse. My cousin is on the east coast and he had pictures of the 20 inches of snow he'd gotten. No thank you! As far as crafting goes, I've been trying my hand at making journals. I bought a book on book binding; but so far, I'm doing it the generic way with padding compound. Which is still good because the pages stay in... Continue reading

So apparently I don't have time for a blog. It's too bad really. I was excited about it. Oh well. In other news, the weather is really nasty today. Some snow and lots of wind. I hate driving in it. I don't mind the weather. I might be able to enjoy it even...if I didn't have to drive in it.'d think I would have more to say, having been gone for so long. Oh yeah. I finally caved and started reading the Twilight saga. I'm on New Moon now. Maybe I'll finish it in time to see the movie... Continue reading

Jason Aldean There are a lot of things that you know, but you rarely have to think about. For example, I am on the computer every day. I use it every day, for just about everything. And when it doesn't work, everything comes to a screeching halt. One part of computing that I don't usually give much thought to is the internet. It's there. It's always been there, right? Actually, I remember being a senior in high school and first experiencing Windows and the internet. My parents got dial-up at the house and it was the coolest thing ever. I... Continue reading

Cyndi Lauper I volunteered to stay in and cover phones so everyone else could go to lunch with a gal that used to work here. So I guess the title fits. I've been neglecting my blog lately. Not sure what is wrong with me. Guess it means I'm working too hard. We've had some family functions the past couple weekends. That's always fun...especially since my family doesn't get together near as often as we should. Especially since my cousins have kids the same age as mine and it's fun to see them interact the same way we did when we... Continue reading

Theory of a Deadman Though, after the way this week has gone, it could be a fitting title. I am reminded, however, of how precious life is and how you can't take anything for granted because it could be gone sooner than you think. Our babysitter's mom is dying of liver cancer. I'm pretty sure she's not even 50 yet, and her youngest son is still in high school. So what do I have to complain about? Yeah, that's what I thought. Even though the lack of a babysitter is wreaking havoc on our schedules and my sanity. Seriously, though,... Continue reading

Jimmy Eat World I have been listening to this song all week. There is just something about it. I can't even explain. But I seriously need to stop already. I happened to start a list of songs I will never get tired of listening to and this one was at the top. Maybe I'll post the list someday. So I can't really think of anything interesting that's been going on. Just work, I guess. R is doing good at school. No notes home yet anyway. So I guess that's good. They got to bring home books this week. He brought... Continue reading

I did mine! It was done quickly (to keep the kids interested), but it worked out pretty well. Thanks for the great project!

Love and Theft I have survived the first day of preschool. It was tough, but I did it with no tears...although, I was pretty close for the first couple hours. Oh, and R loved it. He was very excited. He was making up a song this morning about it being a fun day because it was the first day of school. I love it when he makes up songs. He did not hesitate to get on the bus. I can't wait to get home and see what he has to say. Continue reading

I'm not listening to any music this morning because my mp3 player died. Well, just the battery. So I'm sitting in silence listening to work noises, which aren't nearly as much fun. But we'll be back up and running soon. Hopefully... So I found a couple things I wanted to link to. The first is this post at Kind Over Matter. It's a feel good kind of thing, which is what that blog is all about. I check it out every day and I love it. The second is this post at Sweet Sweet Life. There was something about the... I love the house! Can you do the tutorial? I printed out the instructions from your link, but that's about as far as I got. My kids were excited about the idea of it, though, so I'd love to try.

Tesla So my baby is 2 now. And my other baby starts preschool in a couple weeks. How sad and scary and other emotions that I'm sure I will experience between now and then. It's crazy stuff what we put ourselves through as parents. But it's all worth it. Not a whole lot else going on. Just working. It was nice to have a few days off. I even got to enjoy one of them by myself. With most of the laundry done and the house clean from the party, there weren't a whole lot of chores left to do.... Continue reading

Jimmy Eat World I've been in a Jimmy Eat World kind of place for the last day and a half. Their music is the best and I highly recommend you take a listen if you haven't already. For some reason, I'm having a lot of trouble typing correctly today. So this will be a short entry. Maybe. I'm feeling kind of rambly. I have a lot to say...but getting it out would be a challenge. There's a big birthday party this weekend. It'll be fun, but it's a lot of work...for me. My house has to be spotless for the... Continue reading

Sixteen Candles is my all-time favorite movie. I have a VHS copy from I don't know when that I pop in periodically. I need to get a DVD, but it wouldn't be the same. Pretty in Pink is awesome too, but I never got into The Breakfast Club. Not sure why. And, of course, who can forget Home Alone? It's my all-time favorite Christmas movie. To pay tribute, I'm wearing my most favorite Sixteen Candles t-shirt (found here, if you are interested). Sadly, even casual Friday isn't *that* casual, so I had to put something on over it. But Jake... Continue reading

David Gray So I breeze through the grocery store during my lunch hour today, picking up only what I need...and a few snacks because I'm having a serious need for chocolate. When I get to the checkout, what do I see? "SAVED BY THE BELL REUNION!" on the cover of People. How could I not buy that?! Now I can't wait to get home to read it. Exciting. I'm still trying to figure out how it's already Thursday. And I have to work again this Saturday. That's three in a row. Blah! It's no wonder my house is a disaster.... Continue reading

Celine Dion No, I'm not ashamed to admit I listen to Celine Dion. Of course, I don't know how many people are actually reading this, so it's okay to admit. The county fair starts tonight. All that really means for us is more traffic on our road. We'll go to the tractor pull and maybe the 4-H auction. Still debating on Kids Day, though. Things have been a little stressful for me this week. But the fridge got fixed today, so that's one less thing to worry about. I think I need to do some therapuetic shopping, but then I... Papa Roach This is where I would rather be right now. My boss just got back from Paris. She showed me some of her pictures yesterday (she needed my card reader...somehow, I managed to become the techie in our department...but I'm not very techno-savvy). I don't see myself traveling abroad any time soon, but that's okay. I'm not a big traveler. I got my iPhone yesterday. I was on the phone for 40 minutes! just to get the dumb thing activated. It took at least 25 minutes to get a person on the line. So I'm walking around, picking up... Continue reading
