I have made this jewelry for a client and it makes me think of spring. It is part of a set featuring an 18" matching necklace, this 7 1/2" bracelet and 2 1/2" earrings. These elements seem to play a huge part in my designs, connecting me to the natural beauty of gemstones. My little fun-fact for the day is that the green little copper aluminum phosphate beauties carry a small amount of iron.As always if you would like to order any of my natural gemstone beauties, send me an email. Here is a wonderful picture up in the Apache Trail drive in Arizona. It was so beautiful I can't wait to go back. I am a new traveller to the Phoenix area, one of my daughters moved last May. I have been out there a few times already and love the whole state. The allergies were alittle much this trip, but I managed quite well. The temperature was around 65 - 68 degrees and very pleasent. Loved it!!! It felt like spring, especially if your from Michigan. Outdoor activities were hugh on our list this trip, due to the freezing... Continue reading

Every year I look forward to the trimming of the tree, and my beautiful swarovski ornaments. I received them as gifts from a very kind person and a couple from my husbands business customers.I love the sparkle they give the tree at night. I contrasted the crystal this year with burlap as seen in the pix above. I made the tree very simple this year and opted not to take all the ornaments out for display. I did not put up my artificial tree either. I really felt like simplifying the decorations this year, and very happy to do so.... Continue reading

So as we prepare for a Holiday Party, we don't forget the dog. My daughter loves to dress up her doggy and he doesn't seem to mind. Here you will notice he is in a reindeer costume, just his size. Oh what a festive time of year. We did keep it simple this year with the business related party, simple is good. I basically kept it to a protein ( Honey Baked Ham), salamis, cheeses, olives, fruit & dessert, great wine (one white & one red ) and minimal decorations. I have found that if I don't overdue things and... Continue reading

So this piece was fun to make, I used the round antique ball buttons as my inspiration. I love using vintage buttons and charms, they have wonderful aged color and texture. The blue flower in front of the picture is also a vintage button as is a couple of charms in the back. This bracelet would work nicely not only around the holidays but would be nice for summer. It has that nautical feel to it. Vintage inspired jewelry is a fashion statement with individual uniqueness. Each individual charm has history and a past which makes my jewelry so much... I feel that each piece of jewelry is so unique in that I search high and low for that perfect antique button, charm, stone, flower etc..Here is a necklace that sold and I needed to document it, for it is that perfect summer necklace you could wear all season. I need to make more of these little lovelies. The pink quartz is by far the focal point with the turqoise right behind. Wow!!! love this piece. Continue reading

So i thought I would share a pic of my anniversary flowers. I often look at a vase full of flowers and wonder if I will ever get inspired to paint the flower arrangement. It looks very overwhelming to me since I paint very minimal. I did take a class a year ago in Chicago with Diane Rath. She is a very talented artist which paints really lovely traditional florals. I did take away a few things from her class and hope that someday I can make it back to chicago for another lesson or two. In the meantime I... Continue reading

My hubby had business last week in Vermont and I went along for the ride. Wow!!! I have not been there yet, what a treat it was. I spent nearly a week at the historic Woodstock Inn and Resort. It was quite lovely, simple, not overdone and very comfy cozy. Our room had a sitting area which I took advantage of because, the views were nothing short of lovely. I don't recommend the spa unless you enjoy an older, rustic and dated surrounding, not to mention cold. Woodstock the town, is deemed "the prettiest town in America", although I found... So my latest little treasure is this darling necklace watch pendant. I purchased it from Anthropology and it has a long chain, around 30". Lately I have been inspired by something old and not new. I also find that vintage flowers or vintage looking flowers are sweet. I love to look to Anthropology because they seem to have clothes and gifts that are conveying that message. I love layers as well whether it's with my clothes or jewelry, the different layers and textures create more interest for me. Keeps me from getting too bored. I need to revisit grannys jewel... This mosaic is on a wall at the hotel cafe' on my walk between the new Encore Hotel and the Wynn. I had to stop for my cup of cappuccino and there it was on the wall. It caught my eye because of the high contrast and instead of seeing this mosaic on the floor it was on the wall. I would be curious to know how many mosaics are on the floor at these two major hotels. On my recent stay at the Encore, I was enthralled in all the art surrounding me. Steve Wynn has an amazing eye... Continue reading

Wow what a trip we had to Alaska. I can't wait until we go again. It was my parents 50th wedding anniversary so my brother and I took the parents to celebrate. Yes 50 big ones, do people really make it that long anymore? We were a group of 12 and we travelled to Seattle and then on to the boat heading for Alaska. It was a trip of a lifetime, spending time with the ones we love and enjoying nature at it's best. All I can say is AMAZING!!! If you ever get a chance to go or want... Continue reading

I made it to Art Prize and to my surprise there were so many wonderful pieces I just absolutely loved. But this one just blew me away. The engineering involved and construction and not to mention the red tape. Steve had to get clearance to put this on the Grand Rapids Historic Blue Bridge.Hats off to Steve and Sarah of Sticks for a job well done, and a huge congratulations for making it to the top ten. If you havn't voted yet, get downtown for americas largest gallery! Continue reading

We decided to take a drive north, going upstate is a long day so we usually take an over night bag with us. Michigan is rather large, so we need to plan when driving up state since we are on the west side near Grand Rapids. The hubby says let's go, and don't forget your bag! Who takes a drive on a yucky gloomy day, oh yeah, we do. We drive for about 4 hours, and we take 75 North and once we reach Cheyboygan we take C66 across state to Cross Village. I love to spot wildlife from the... Continue reading

Setting a few bottles together for a cute little grouping on a bedside table or coffee table, is easy as long as you do it properly. Remember to group in ones, threes, fives or sevens. I also like to add a high contrast in color and texture. Here you have the dark textured glass in front and the lighter colored bottles in the back. It looks really nice and balanced. Mixing it up abit like this gives so much more interest and curiosity to your decor. The reflection of the bottles on the mirrored table also gives the eye more... Continue reading

As I walk through my day, If I feel there is alot of inspiration around me I keep that camera handy. I was shopping in my hotel the last time I was in Las Vegas.( Wynn, Encore) As I pay for my gorgeous bathing suits, something I would never really find in my home town. I look up and low and behold I see driftwood spread across a very large wall behind the cashier. Wow! I only see driftwood in michigan on or near the beach. Lake Michigan that is! My senses of sculpture are heightened right now because of... Continue reading

So my architect friend Steve Fry had this amazing idea, which most recently came to fruition. From the moment he heard about Art Prize, one thing lead to another and before he knew it, he was in it. This concept took alot of lumber and steel not to mention man power and machinery just to get it in place. It is placed on top of one of Grand Rapids historic downtown bridges. One needs to actually visualize it to appreciate the work involved. I am proud to say I was a stand in artist just in case he needed extra... Continue reading

It's that time of year again and it's invigorating. The warm days and cool nights make you feel alive and ready to go. After a long week in Phoenix ( 105 degrees ) Michigan feels awesome. Don't ask me how I feel in January or February. Isn't everything relative? There is no perfect world now is there? So the tomatoes here are running green so they need to sit for awhile. We did some canning and the family looks forward to the Stewed Tomatoes all year long. I use them in my chili, rice, goulash etc...the fresh organic tomaotes are... Continue reading

I get so excited as I continue to acquire information about Green Living. It's a good feeling knowing that I can help our planet in some little way and learn while I do it. Today I learned that you can add Castile Soap to Baking Soda for a soft scrub cleaner. Here is the recipe I found in Mary Janes Farm: Soft Scrub Cleaner 1/4 cup Baking Soda 2 - 3 Tablespoons Castile soap Combine ingredients and mix until smooth. Apply with cloth; wipe clean. DishWasher Soap by Kathy Stevens 1/2 cup liquid Castile Soap 1/2 cup water 1 teaspoon... Continue reading

These amazing flowers have history that dates back around 35 million years. Wow!!! That's crazy when you think about it. They are symbolic in love, war, beauty and politics. Another little fun fact about the roses, is there are around 150 species of roses in the northern hemishpere. I only have about four varieties in my garden, looks like I have quite a choice. This one on a rainy gloomy day just pops against the green backdrop. You gotta love complimentary colors. This was a gift from my husband, thank you Davey. Continue reading
