Found you through "The Small Notebook." As a mom of five, and someone who focuses on the "little things are the big things," I wholeheartedly agree with this post. My teen sons have built a relationship that will not be parted, and we are continually drilling into them, "your friends will come and go, but your siblings will always be there for you." It's so worth it! :)

Oh, but on second thought..even if it's not a huge, huge, huge success (which I highly doubt)...HE is still amazing. :)

oh, this is excellent. I, too, remember you stating the stat at Blissdom that put me in the top 10% of bloggers and thought, "what?", and it put a lot of things in perspective for me. I didn't realize just how much a smaller conference would give women the feel of "high school" with the best and worst parts. I think that is one expectation people have to realize. Lots of bloggers have connected in real life through conferences, trips etc and so that gives them a instant bonding point right away. If you're going to a conference for the first time and meeting people that you feel like you've known "forever," it just might not be what you envisioned it to be, and it's important that women realize that and understand they're not the only ones who might feel that way. I am grateful for Blissdom because it allowed me to solidify specific things I wanted to do and didn't want to do with my blog. The emphasis from many on making money from "niche blogs" gave me great food for thought, but then let me ponder the fact that those weren't the reasons I started blogging in the first place. It's been wonderful to stay true to my voice (against all odds :), but due to that, see my blog grow and lead to "Real life" opportunities. As I think about more conferences, I definitely have expectations in check. The beauty of signing up for Twitter during last years Blissdom is the reality that I have made so many more connections that I ever thought possible and now the "fairy dust" will sprinkle a bit more brightly. :)
