You stated there were 60 million uninsured. The last official numbers that I saw earlier this year was 47 million. That would mean that 13 million people have lost health insurance this year. I don't think so. Something in the numbers doesn't sound right. If you do a breakdown of the 47 million uninsured you would find the following: 17 million people have household incomes over $50,000 a year and statistically can afford health insurance and choose not to buy it. 18 million people are between 18 and 34 and choose not to purchase health insurance or have no need of insurance because of their health 9.5 million people who do not have health insurance are NOT U.S. CITIZENS. That means that there are really only 2.5 million or so people in the U.S. who need to be covered as uninsured because of circumstances NOT by choice. Why does the Tribune keep inflating numbers to make it seem like we have to completely revolutinize our health care instead of simply closing some loopholes and providing appropriate assistance where needed? Are you really in favor of the plan that Congress is considering? Have you read H.R. Bill 3200?
