I am going to set up a website with an integrated blog using wordpress as a host very soon, in the meantime I am posting images on Flickr so do come and see me there :-) Continue reading

Thank you! Yes the exhibition looks set to raise quite a bit of money. Yes, theres some very diluted gold metallic paint across the top section (I love metallic and gold particularly but Im wary of it - I think it can look a bit tacky though Catherine Hyde uses it to fabulous effect:http://catherinehyde.co.uk/2010_home.php.

Thanks very much Sonya - selling on line is quite a challenge I think, and I think too you are right about large pieces because shipping can be very pricy, which is off putting, but for smaller works its an option. I think youre right about the difference being a surface one - I was watching a great video about Mary Nomecos, an American abstract painter, who said in the vid that its all about making interesting shapes - and shes right isnt she? The video is here in case you are interested:http://youtu.be/BI-M6uZahhE

Depends how you do it - I modelled the head first in plasticine, then covered it in papier mache, so it seemed pretty straightforward to me.

Four Seasons: Autumn, 9 x 6" Acrylic on handmade paper (sorry about the glare - this was a horror to photograph!) detail Above is my contribution to the Trees For Life Exhibition in Edinburgh - the aim is to raise £10,000 through sales of the artwork which will enable the Trees For Life Charity to plant its one millionth tree! It's not too late to contribute - you have until the 15th August to submit work and all the details are avaiable on the site. Individual art works are priced at £45 each (about $75) and can be purchased either... Continue reading

These six small studies are the beginning of a body of work inspired by the textures and colours of Orfordness. All of the papers are hand painted and drawn by me and some, I hope, will be weathered outside. I have a stack of paper in process at the moment. Most of it is recycled kraft paper or grey and brown packing paper that has arrived... Continue reading

Thanks Zom. No I dont mind at all - thank you for asking. It would be nice if you'd mention me if you post the results - and if you want to know how I did anything (though really I just kind of slapped it down) please contact me.

Mixed media in journal Mixed media in journal Mixed media in journal What is the difference between an art journal and a sketchbook? None really, I think - in the UK, in any art school everything that is done in an art journal would be done in a sketchbook, and often my sketchbook has been referred to as a 'sketch journal'. Yet I persist in differentiating between my sketchbooks - which are just that: books in which I sketch, and my art journals which are also books but are more personal, might include sketches but are always an expression of...
