I would love to give your pattern a test, I make lots of bags but have not yet made one for myself this summer.
testing?
Anybody out there care to do some pattern testing for me? I have two patterns that I've been sitting on for at least a year, probably longer. Ridiculous, right? One is for a bag very similar to my free Phoebe Bag pattern. I get so many requests to make & sell these bags (sorry, please don't ma...
How much fun! I would love to have fresh caterpillary craft ideas with my grands.
Hand in Hand :: book giveaway
Many. many months ago I was asked to contribute to a book to be written by Jenny Doh, Hand in Hand: Crafting with Kids. When I read the list of contributors I was floored. Was she really asking me? To say that I was honored is an understatement. I was over the moon! Just look at all the cont...
I just made my first knit garment since the Stretch n' Sew years (mid 70's)and I would love to make more for my grands. This book sounds like it is just what I need.
Sewing Modkid Style....another stop on the tour
I'm so thrilled to have my turn on Patty Young's Sewing Modkid Style blog tour! Once I had the book in hand I couldn't wait for my chance to show you what a great and necessary book this is. There are a lot of really terrific books on sewing childrens clothing out there but this one is uniq...
Heather and Sarah, "Thank you for being a friend.." You are, indeed Golden Girls.
The song thing may be getting old, a good night's sleep should cure that, but I really do appreciate your friendship and encouragement.
Do You Know Doh?
I signed up for a simple three week class. I've done this before and found helpful advice but nothing that was earth-shattering. This time was different, maybe not earth-shattering ( no rumbles of the fault lines here in SW Ohio) but certainly soul-awakening. I was supposed to learn about publi...

Years ago (several millenia ago when I was a child and then young mother) our local department store had a Santa's workshop of elves that worked mechanically on toys, mail, and with the reindeer. I loved it then and miss it now. Recently parts of the workshop surfaced and they were shown in an empty shop window. It was a Christmas of memories.

Fresh Squeezed was the first online shop I ever purchased fabric from. I would like to learn to silkscreen fabric.
birthday party giveaway: day 2!
Thank you for celebrating with me! You know, I feel very blessed that my little business just keeps chigging along in spite of the economy. I started out by buying 21 bolts of fabric way back when the government gave us all stimulus checks. I managed to make my shop look a little fuller tha...

May Giveaway - yarn
Yay! it's another Giveaway! This giveaway is vintage mohair yarn. There's lots of it andit's bright pink. And when I say bright pink, I mean bright pink! It's 78%mohair, 13%wool and 9% nylon, and it's made by St John's Wools (who probably don't exist any more, but there you go). There are e...
Iwas surprised to discover that the Elsie stories have been updated and published for Christian book stores. There is even an Elsie Doll, sort of a pious American Girl doll. Apart from those books no one usually knows what I am talking about when I mention Elsie Dinsmore! I share your mother addiction. - Victoria
These Are a Few of My Favorite Things
First, the sunshine! Spring sprang around here and has headed straight into summer. It makes challenging shadows on photographs, but makes me very happy. The dogs, however, miss the gazebo and are struggling to find scraps of shade. They are still doing the spring shed and are downward dog...
This is the first time I have visited. That is the beauty of Giveaway Day; we meet other bloggers and find, in the words of Anne Shirley, kindred spirits. In the words of the disgraced Arnie S, "I will be back!"
Give Away Day! Hurray!
I am happy to be giving away a grey wool zip pouch, embelished with handsewn running stitches and lined with some sunny yellow flowered fabric. The pouch measures 6 inches across and 6.5 inches deep and could be used for any of the little things you don't want to loose in the bottom of your...

Etsy has so much more than craft supplies. One thing that I find often is vintage books so that I can the stories I loved in childhood with my grandchildren. The stationary, jewelry, and clothing is pretty amazing, too! Look around the site, I think you might really like it. -Victoria

I bought a Brother 420 about 18 month ago and I LOVE it. I still have my Singer but the Brother is electronic and I did not know what I was missing. It has a self threading feature that makes these old eyes weep with joy and more feet and special attachments than I ever imagined. A friend has te 220 as her first machine and loves that just as much. Happy Stitching! - Victoria
