Pat Sloan "Name this Block" Contest!
I'm having SUCH FUN finding EASY PEASY ways to use up scraps and sharing my ideas with you in my newsletter! It's a fun challenge for me to look at my limited scap keeping (read about it HERE) and try to think up a way to use them. Remember we did strips first and now squares. I really think...
I'm finally getting around to the other stops! I love your block - the fussy cut center square is perfect!
A New Leaf
I was thrilled when Jan of Daisy Janie asked me to participate in her Bee Block Blog Hop to celebrate the release of her New Leaf line of fabrics. I am a real fan of her fabrics. She has put a lot of thought and research into her organic fabrics and has written some great articles on the impact ...
Jan, this block is FAN-frikking-TASTIC!!!! I LOVE IT! I will most definitely be playing around with this block. How many ways can I say I LOVE THIS??? :-)
last stop in the New Leaf Bee Block Blog Hop!
Please view this tutorial at its new location on Daisy Janie's updated website and blog! Click here. Thanks!! :) Jan !
Quarterly goals and re-evaluations are very wise! You don't want to loose the forest for the trees. Good luck with all the marketing stuff - I totally suck at it!!!!
I actually got off to a quick start this year and now have a big commitment to follow through on:

Come on February, bring it on!
February 2012 .:. Biz Goals
So this is my cat, spying on the cat next door who's spying on a crow in the grass. It somehow seemed the perfect Meetup photo for this month. I think first because it made me laugh, and second, I love the intensity and focus that both of the cats possess. And the crow, well he/she knew the ...
Yup, you love yours just like I love mine, and I agree those are the 2 PITA parts of it! It took me a couple of weeks to learn how to control the speed with finesse (and mine doesn't have those 3 speed regulations, it's all in the power of the foot) but now it is total second nature to me and I have wonderful control (I do sew barefoot, there no way I could do it with shoes...I even had to do that while taping QATV and my DVD this summer LOL!)
When I do sew on my Bernina, I just get frustrated because it's so SLOW! ;-)
Good Lord, My Sewing Machine is SMOKING!
Good Lord, My Sewing Machine is SMOKING! This is not the way I planned for her to go. I bought my sweet and lovely Pfaff about eight years ago used and she worked extremely hard for me for those eight years. And she was well taken care of. She had yearly/bi-yearly spa dates over at the sewing...
OOH, pretty pretty pretty! Love the new look, and glad to hear you're stretching in new directions!
Hello!
...and welcome to the new Miss Modish blog! I'm a day late because I was laid up yesterday with a hurt back :( but feeling better now and excited to show off the new digs around here! I'll be adding more content and organizational goodies to the sidebar in the coming weeks, but wanted to pop ...
Yep - September really is the start of the year. Although the end of December really feels like the end of the year (the end of that incredible push of making for shows, and holidays...) September really does feel like the start of so much. Liz it really seems like you're figuring out how to make the most of your creativeness, and that is totally AWESOME!
I was SO happy to cross off so much stuff this month:

Look out Fall, here we come! ;-)
September 2011 .:. Biz Goals
And here we are back to September. I know that we celebrate New Year in January, because come on, that's when the ball drops in Times Square, right. But is anyone else with me on the fact that September REALLY is the start of the new year? There's the back to school exodus, everyone is out clo...
Hooray! Sounds like your July was just perfection! AND you're stoked for August - hooray for you! So glad to hear July #5 is working for you, that should be the goal for all of us! :-)
I'm hoping to get a great start on August, I've got some important deadlines coming up the end of this month! http://www.candiedfabrics.com/2011/08/01/meetup-august-goals/
August 2011 .:. Biz Goals
I touched on everything that I had listed for July, and then some, and even took a week off and went back east to visit family. OH, swimming in lakes again, just heaven, and eating 3 ears of corn for dinner (and skipping the rest of the meal), and floating in the water looking at the clouds, a...
Yup - I LOVE times like this, when ideas come together and you make exactly what you want/need. In fact, this concept of making it myself is a BIG part of who I AM! I love that you and I were on the same wavelength this weekend - even sewing with the same fabrics! :-)
a hip pouch sew-along.

OMG - YES that is totally how I feel! I keep adding to the things that I'm doing, and keep on doing what I used to do, it's crazy! Part of all this is because this cycle of submit to be published in the magazines - there's so long between the beginning and the end, and I know I want to keep going, but phew, it's exhausting!
My list is shorter than normal this month, hopefully there's room for some R&R as well as some art making just for the heck of it!

June 2011 .:. Biz Goals
Here was May: Put a list together of 10-12 people I know and ask them about what methods they have used to market their work. Continue working on fabric design portfolio. I won't be going to Quilt Market this May, unexpected cost of a new computer got in the way, but there is another one in...
I will say YES to abundance with you! Sorry you were sick - but look at that fabulous new series you're doing over at Scoutie Girl! Woot!
Here are my goals, crazy month of May, BRING IT ON!

Sea Shell Flowers April was not my best month on record. In fact April had many moments of just plain sucking. I'm glad April is gone, and we're on to a new month, here's to May NOT including food poisoning, lower back going out, and a dead iMac. And let's get even more specific with the h...
Love that it's covered in oilcloth - sheer genius! :-)
For Beth - My sewing table
Poor Beth has waited forever for me to show her pictures of the sewing table hubby made for me last summer. It's actually just something that sits on top of my existing desk....and it has a hole cut out for the sewing machine. Here's a very picture-heavy description of it: He made it out of ...
LOVE the iPhone decals...I would love one on my DroidX - is that an option???
You're right, testimonials are important! I'm gonna add that to my todo list, which is right here:

Go April GO!
(aha, I see that after I sign in with twitter I've got to come back and redo the comment...probably what DIDN'T happen last month!)
April 2011 .:. Biz Goals
First of April, April Fools Day. Does anyone else ever get curious about the origins of some of these "holidays"? Wikipedia is not always totally reliable, but it's a quick source of information, and so, April Fools Day: The earliest recorded association between April 1 and foolishness can be...
I too love this batting, but it's very hard for me to source it locally :-(
Quilt Batting Giveaway!!! UPDATE INFORMATION
City Green from City Quilts A quilt batting giveaway...could you ask for more? Okay, how about 12 crib size quilt batts...even better right? I'm here to shout from the roof tops how much I LOVE HOBBS FUSIBLE BATTING!!! There are many reasons to love it, and many reasons I use it, but I want y...
This looks so COOL! I'm a bit confused though...why in step 1 do you sew with the wrong sides together? Doesn't that mean that the raw edges would be sticking out the front???
ALso, are you familiar with the work of Quit Artist Extraordinaire Caryl Bryer Fallert? One of her motifs is something she calls "high tech tucks", take a look here

(if you don't know her work, be prepared to be blown away) ;-)

Yes yes yes, you are so right! If we forget that we're doing this because we LOVE to do it, then what's the frikkin point!?!
I'm so happy you're finding your way, thanks so much for the reminder!
This was the fastest January in history...here's to February!

Pink Tulip necklace, available here. January's goals were short, and really really sweet. I mean really sweet. I can't remember a month that was more fun, because my goals were fun. I think we all sometimes have a tendency to make work, well, work, when it may be work, but it's also what we lov...
Liz - I too am with you...my word of the year gets to the heart of your "working smarter..."
Anyway, here's my goals post:
http://www.candiedfabrics.com/2011/01/05/looking-forward/
Thanks for all the support last year, I truly am looking forward to what this year will bring, and part of this is brought about by the support I get from my meetup pals! :-)
January 2011 (!) .:. Biz Goals
After just 3 days of stepping away from work, from schedules, from anything that started with "I must..." I am not feeling ready to start it all up again, which then leads me to realise that I don't make enough down time for myself. I don't have enough time to regenerate and reinvogorate my id...
Vee! Yay for custom orders...it's always awesome to put of some nebulous goals for definite making for other folks! Yay! Have a fantastic December!
Monthly Goals : December `10
[image via Smashing Magazine] "Only take advice from people who have what you want. Otherwise they're just guessing.. " - TheDailyLove via Twitter I can't believe there's only a month left & then 2010 is over! Overall, this year has been good.. way better than last year. 2010 gave me both up...
Oh my GOODNESS - your goals #'ed 5 & 6, I totally need to do this! So glad the crunchy leaf walking was a success...as well as your beautiful new resin jewelry! I never responded to your email, but they are LOVELY and I would to show them off in a "Maker's Must" interview sometime...
I already let go of my first December stress: a meaningful, beautifully constructed advent calendar (replaced it with a lego and chocolate storebought ones, the kids were ecstatic!) I'm hoping I can balance this list:
http://www.candiedfabrics.com/2010/12/01/december-goals-meetup/
with some really relaxing activities!
As always, thanks for keeping the Meetup going Liz - I gather so much strength from this group!

I love this quote: "Be yourself. No one can ever tell you you're doing it wrong." My crap-ass-inner voice likes to tell me otherwise, but at the moment I am smashing him into the rug with my boot, so he is ever so silent, giving me the opportunity to enjoy the moment, and just be myself. Okay,...
All this beautifulness in just one walk? Incredible! Sigh, my neighborhood in SoCal never looks like this!
Take a Walk with Me...
...around my neighborhood, on a foggy fall morning.
I love this quote - something I need to tatoo on my forehead...backwards so I can read it in the mirror! ;-)
The Worry Game
Along with my brown eyes, 2 slightly tipped eye teeth, a button nose, and an inclination to go barefoot most all the time, I inherited the worry gene from my mother. There have been times when it has taken over my life, and other times it is running quietly in the background. It is almost alwa...
Stunning - simply stunning!
