My favourite book of the year was 'The Keeper Of Lost Things' My husband loved it too. We agreed that it one of the most moving and funny books we had ever read, and it takes a very talented writer to pull that off. I've just downloaded 'Things We Never Said' and I'm looking forward to getting started on that.
PS I couldn't get on with 'The Essex Serpent' either. Blessings
Random Round up of 2017 and my Book of the Year
On checking my list on the blog it seems I have read around 200 books this year which is about average for me. I am not saying that any of my fiction reading is of the highest literary quality in terms of Booker or Orange or any other listings, I gave up on those yonks ago, but reflect my enjoy...
Instead of peeling off onion layers, you are adding them, and it works. Like this. Blessings
Just like That
Layers. Layers transform. Layering is a form of alignment. Just wanted to say hi, off to do some errands. But this just happened and it was so simple. How the moon became a sun by layering it with a bit of star stitching. Just a running stitch. Photo shot while wearing a headlamp, it is so su...
It's taken me quite a while, but I am now feeling a connection, which has left me feeling a bit shaky. I wasn't expecting it, and to be honest, I really didn't actually want it. But it's there. When I looked out of my window tonight the moon goddess was shining so brightly, even though no other stars were visible. and I felt an overwhelming sense of peace. Can't explain it. maybe it's better not to try. Blessings
Sun Storming
Yesterday wood was stacked and we worked very hard. I slept late and I feel lazy. It rained for a while and the sun came out and lit up the patch of tall fire grass in the front yard. And it became like a sun itself. I just did it again. Without looking at the previous storming. Simple start...
After taking more time to really look at it, I think I'm beginning to see what you were getting at, so thank you. Blessings
because Tomorrow is a woodstacking day...
Just to show... This one has been developing, slowly, behind the scenes. Moons of course, are, on my mind. Just to say, I have put a small resource and supplier list in the right sidebar, it will be updated but it's there. That's where it will be, as we go. Just added to the list, a place t...
You have a treasure when your family understand and empathise with what you are doing. Mine could never do that. But as to the last posting. It's probably just me, but I found the red to be an intrusion, and if I'd been following your path I could never have gone along with that. Were you really comfortable with it yourself or did you have just a tiny doubt? Sorry, don't mean to be difficult, but you've taught me so much, and this doesn't quite gel, but that must be me, right? And even if it is just me, is that a bad thing? Blessings

Through your blog you have always taught me. Not to copy you, but (much as I hate the phrase) to 'think outside the box'. My work is decidedly more free and conceptual and I've stopped feeling I have to follow so-called rules and conventions. It's opened up a whole new world of stitching to me, and that world definitely includes the moon and stars. Blessings
SunMoonStars Day 3
Today it is raining. Not a lot. Not Enough really. But enough to delay the scheduled firewood delivery. Monday then. No stacking today. But more water for dyeing. Lights on. it's dark today and the overhead light is my Sun It is interesting how different it seem to be hosting a "class" ...
Was that Ha a put down?. Or don't you believe in eternity?

I've been saving these for something, for...ever maybe. When does time become forever? I've a busy day today. Post office and other stuff. Away from here.
Time is forever until it runs out, then it eases into eternity. Blessings

Holding Patterns
The Dogwood turns first. Sometimes as early as mid August, leave are on the ground. With the summer's dryness I expected that. They held on. Maybe the roots reach further. Deeper. Finding some invisible flow. The rain always brings forth the color. Knocks the dry leaves off the branches. And t...
Karla, I'm so sorry, I haven't seen some of my grandchildren for several years, and it breaks my heart, so I know how you're feeling. Warm Blessings to you
Dewdrop
My littlest fairy is in for some changes. Her mommy and some of the other siblings have moved 13 hours away. She has been here with us and her daddy til her family gets settled out there, and then we will be doing a long distance switch off every few weeks. Between breaking out in tears...
Hi Karla, Hope you have a wonderful holiday in Hawaii. Spare a thought for us in the UK sheivering in the wind, rain, snow and sleet (often all at the same time. lol) Lots of pics please and you can be sure we'll all be green with envy....but in a nice way of course. luv and hugs to the fairy babies. Blessings
Craft day with Carol Spinski, Debbie Dusenberry, and Amy Barickman, woo hoo!
Last Tuesday, Amy, Carol, and Debbie came over for a craft day and lunch. It was a fun day of catching up, creating, and chatting. Amy's friend, Cindy, came by for a while, it was nice to meet a local Lawrence lady who was a big shot blogger (Skip to my Lou). I had no idea. Wow, 2,0...
Hi Linda. Happy New Year, Delighted to see you back again, with all your fantastic stitching. You've been missed. Blessings
So much has happened.
So much has happened over the last few months it is going to be hard to play catch up on my poor neglected blog. First of all a very Happy New Year to you all, 2013 is going to be a fabulous year for everyone this year..at least that is what is what I am wishing for. Lilly Cottage Bribie Island...
The fudge sounds delicious, but most of all I love your decor. Hope you and your sweet family have a truly magical Christmas. Blessings
Short Cut layered Fudge with Belguim Chocolate
For more than 30 Christmasses I've been making short cut fudge, the same way every year. But in the last few, I've noticed that it wasn't going as well as it used to. I blame the products, I think that they have changed gradually and just aren't as good. Nestle Toll House Chips just weren't w...
Good for you. I'm all for seeing the funny side of things..if there is a funny side. But this so-called type of humour is both insulting and very UNfunny. Maybe we should let our views be known more often and more loudly. Blessings
Cranky McCrankerson, continued......
Ok....here's the deal. I'm driving home from my mammogram this morning when I hear this little "humorous" blurb on Jack FM in between songs....... "In honor of breast cancer awareness month, we're always here to lend a helping hand." Really? No. Really? Did I just hear that. This is the sec...

August Giveaway announcement and some ghosts drifting by
Beth came over yesterday for a craft day, and brought Button. He and Agnes Rosebud were thrilled to see each other, and it was wrestle mania for most of the day. They had some ferocious growling too. Well at least, they thought they sounded pretty fierce, I kind of thought they sounded ...
Oh Linda, you've made my day. Isn't it silly, I'm almost as excited as you are?. I'm so looking forward to seeing all the new pretties. Blessings are being sent to you, your friends, and your new venture.
Lilly Cottage returns, count your chickens and hold onto your hats.
Well yes you read that right, Lilly Cottage is returning...it is even returning to Old Petrie Town, with a bit of a twist. This all has to do with the lovely Rosey ( Itty-Bitty and Pretty) and her partner in crime...I mean craft Renata (Renata Clarke Designs ). We have been sharing a stall si...
Hey, I didn't say he was PRETTY!
Mushroom or toadstool? My favourite Photos continue.
Love these photos of a mushroom we found...more than one photo I love the folds and the shapes. A little bit magic? Mushroom or toadstool, I can't decide, I think it is a mushroom. Pretty...simple things see. Kiss Noises Linda
Good Morning, I don't know if I should be classed as a lurker. I have only recently found your blog, and along with Dianne Knotts you have inspired me to try mixed media work for the first time. Your giveway would be a wonderful way to start my new 'journey'. Blessings Lesley
400 Posts Give-away
Ok, it's not 500, 600 and 800 like I've seen recently, but heck, 400 is a record for me, right? In celebration, I'm doing what I haven't done in a long time and having my own give-away! What do you win, you say? It's a gluebook collage paper kit! It's an original collection of papers, I'...

Hi Linda, love the hedgehog, but don't they make an enormous noise at night? Well' probably not this particular one, although, there again, you never really know what goes on at Lilley Cottage after you've gone home! luv Lesley

One Quirky Hedgehog.
This has got to be my favourite photo of the week. This quirky hedgehog is a collectible Des Lingos and boy is she sweet. Of course sniffing pretty flowers is a favourite pastime, with a nose as cute as that I would be using it as often as I could too. If you want to use this image as a screen ...
Hi Linda, I love the bag. I'm currently making one for MIL, but at the rate it's going, it won't be done by Christmas....and I'm not even saying which Christmas! lol. Mind you, because her eyes are not very good I'm doing masses of very bright embroidery and lots of bling embellishments, and I just can't get on with sewing machines. I love making life difficult for myself! luv Lesley
Vintage bags and birds out of the storm.
Last Saturday at Lilly Cottage was one of those days when the entire display was inside the shop. The morning looked quite clear and bright and then came the dust storm warning. First of all we had the display set up outside and then pulled everything inside so that you could still walk around ...
Hi Linda, I'm so pleased that I'm not the only 'crazy' one. MY DH thinks I am because I check a website 'Latest Earthquakes In The World' several times a day. 'Why?' he asks, 'There's nothing you can do about it.' But there is, when I see a new earthquake or tsunami warning I try to send blessings to all the people in danger. I'm a Pagan, and as such I trust that Mother Nature is looking after herself, after all, we are only temporary occupants of this planet. For every force of Nature, there is a reason, although some times it's very hard to understand. Keep thinkng of those poor people, as I will. It is all we can do. Blessed Be Lesley
It wouldn't seem right.
It simply wouldn't seem right to post pretty pictures and talk about lovely weather when there is so much tragedy and devastation around the world. My heart and prayers go out to all those affected by these terrible tragedies. I have an irrational fear of Tidal Waves (Tsunami's)...irrational onl...
I love your little corner. I wish I could visit. By the way, I'm with the Jane Austen fans, I also enjoyed 'The Time Traveller's Wife' The Shell Seekers by Rosamund Pilcher is also one of my favourites. I hope you're feeling better. My MS has flared up again, and I'm in the middle of editing the October edition of our local magazine. It always happens at the worst time, doesn't it? I'm smiling through gritted teeth. luv Lesley
Just a little pink patchwork corner.
I love it when you arrange a nice little corner and all you want to do is creep in there with your book and a cup of tea. This corner has all of my favourite things, soft patchwork colours, pictures of roses and pretty tea cups. Would you care to join me? I can pull up another chair but you must...
Hi Linda, How lovely that you've been able to visit Lilley Cottage. I can't begin to understand how much you must have misssed it, except, I've missed it too. How strange is that. Try not to overdo things, I know how easy it is to do too much when you start feeling better. Be patient, (yeah, like I am lol) It's great to have you back. love Lesley UK
Finally, a visit to Lilly Cottage in person!
It has been close to 8 weeks since I have been out to Lilly Cottage in person and finally I think my darling husband either felt sorry for me or was in fear for his life when he offered to drive me out for a few hours today. I had things to bring out and price so it was good excuse and now I do...
