Fabric and creating anything. My friends and family have always been amused that I have to always be making something. Even making something from nothing. You know, repurposing or turning trash to treasure. My daddy always said you can not make a silk purse from a sow's ear. Daddy you were wrong! God didn't make "no" junk! It's all good.
Interests: painting, sewing, crocheting, glueing, fixin', makin' (sorry i'm from texas)

It is a softly inflated disc that you can put between you and any chair (one size fits all!) and it helps relieve pressure caused by... Continue reading

Fiskars Fabric Strip Cutter This Fabric Strip Cutter can help you create a BEAUTIFUL quilt using the strip-cutting technique. What makes this strip-cutter different from all the strip-cutters is that the trimmer is made for cutting up to 4 layers of fabric and the magnetic arms hold the cutting bar in place so your fabric won’t slip and there are 2 interchangeable face plates. This small, but powerful strip-cutter can save you so much time in finishing that quilt you are just dying to finish!! Continue reading

Lyric's Lateeda Lady of the Week: Sandra Varga First of all we would like to wish Sandra Varga a happy early birthday! She is passionate about sewing and has a large collection of fabric to show for it. She loves to piece, make yo-yos (Which we are told she has over 1000 in her collection!), work with wools, make miniatures, quilt, and enjoys everything that comes along with the quilting world. She is always ready to pack up her things for a retreat, or make a trip to Lyric's! Sandra was nominated by JoAnn Herbert, and I agree wholeheartedly that... Continue reading

The outpouring of generosity and overall response we have had from the community once they caught wind of the Million Pillowcase Challenge has been amazing! We made our first donation to CASA of Deep East Texas last week amid snow flurries and rain, but even that didn't dampen our enthusiasm. It makes me smile each time someone walks into the store and picks up a pillowcase pattern because I know that ultimately, that pillowcase is going to uplift the spirits of someone who needs encouragement. We were also blessed to have our local newspaper do a fabulous article about our... Continue reading

Our first Cuddle Quilt Workshop was held this past Saturday, and despite a few hitches that can be expected with many new projects, it was great! Everyone loved seeing their soft little strips of cuddle cloth turn into a beautiful quilts, as did I! To better serve everyone during our next Cuddle Quilt Workshop to be held on March 6, we have instituted a few changes to make the class easier for everyone and to ensure that the class runs on schedule. For the March 6 class, we ask that only intermediate sewers and above take the class. If you... Continue reading

Well, It's official. I've fallen in love with Shannon Fabric's Cuddle Cloth and their straighforward Cuddle Cloth quilt pattern. They're simple to make and are wonderful gifts. Plus, I dare you to walk by one without touching the fabric. They are so wonderfully soft! Because I love this fabric and pattern so much (as does everyone who touches it), we are gearing up for a Cuddle Quilt Workshop this Saturday, January 30. I'm excited for everyone to work with yards of this wonderfully soft Cuddle Cloth and take home a beautiful and oh-so-soft quilt at the end of the workshop!... Continue reading

Make a Pillowcase, Make a Difference I'm so very excited to dive into American Patchwork & Quilting's 1 Million Pillowcase Challenge! This is an amazing opportunity for independent fabric and quilt shops to join forces with other quilters and sewers to make a difference in their own community. During the year-long challenge, shop owners team up with other sewers and quilters to create and donate 1 million pillowcases to local charities. There are free patterns available to download online at www.allpeoplequilt.com/millionpillowcases, or you can pick one up from our shop. We will be donating our pillowcases to The Nacogdoches Boy's... Continue reading
