Hi Mary and thank you for your question.
Unfortunately, the branch-based "English Can Be Fun" program is being discontinued as of this summer. The Library is working to integrate and promote outreach services for newcomer children and youth through the website, the TD Summer Reading Club, Word Out! Teen summer reading and other services.
I hope that helps and please do encourage the newcomer families that you meet to visit the library and talk to library staff about useful programs and resources.

Hi Salina!
I am not sure who would have been the program coordinator for the program at this branch at the time that you had volunteered.
To verify that information - I would suggest to please call either Flemingdon Park branch at 416-395-5820 OR the Leading to Reading volunteer coordinator for the East region Cathy Thomson at 416-396-8601.
All the best with your university application. Iana

I like to take my family to the outdoors Christmas market in the Distillery district the first half of December. Also at Harbourfront there is a lovely Swedish Christmas festival usually the first weekend of December - they celebrate light and Santa Lucia - look for the young woman wearing a long white gown and a crown of candles. For a taste of Hanukkah visit a free event at the MNJCC - the Miles Nadal Jewish Community Centre at Spadina and Bloor. And I love going to holidays concerts of carols and sing-alongs - many of them are free at churches, libraries or on the street. The WholeNote free publication publishes a long December concert listing (some are free or "pwyc").
Fun And Free Things To Do Over The Holidays
Whether or not you celebrate Christmas, there are lots of activities going on over the next few weeks when children are out of school and shops and businesses close for a couple of days, and many of them are free. Naturally, the library is a great place to come (Toronto Public Library has specia...
