I absolutely love this! What a beautiful tribute to those women. So interesting to find all that detail of the day to day pleasures Emily enjoyed...those little things that make our ancestors feel so real to us. Your stitching is ,as always, wonderful! You’ve made me think of creating a family quilt...with a panel for each person...I better add that to my ever increasing “to do” list...how do people ever find the time to be bored?! ;)
berries and beetles
It's blackberry season, which means summer won't be staying for much longer. There are blackberry vines that grow along the side of our road by the bus stop and I've been watching the berries ripen every afternoon on my walk up the hill. No-one seemed interested in harvesting them. But...
I’d love to own a pair of these...🤞this is my lucky day! ☺️

My Nan had The Lark Ascending played at her funeral (at her request) at the time, 17 years ago it was thought quite unusual...but now I think that maybe there are lots of Nanas out there that love it...I remember it as a very special part of the day, one that still makes me have goosebumps....
How lovely that you have all those special moments and memories to remember her by and especially that last crafting conversation...what a gem! Xx
winter view
It was so hard, but we had to say goodbye to my grandmother last week. She was quite unwell in the second half of her life but she faced it directly with humour and courage and never complained. She had a special talent for finding something worthwhile and fun in every situation, even when...
I find journaling a perfect way to introduce creativity into my day without needing lots of time and space...it has become a daily touchstone that allows me to record a snapshot of what has been important in my day and I hope it will be a lovely reminder in the future when I want to remember back...thank you for an opportunity to win a copy of this book...I checked it out online when you mentioned it before and I can't get a copy here...I'll keep my fingers crossed!

Hello! I hope you're having a nice weekend. Mine has been filled with cosy activities so far - a family movie night, coffee with friends, Fabricabrac and a day spent drinking tea and chatting by the fire with Constança. Couldn't ask for a nicer weekend, really! I also have a giveaway, thanks t...

Issue 21::WEAVE
This issue! Oh goodness, Issue 21::WEAVE is just plain awesome, I'm not even going to try to be subtle about that belief. The first issue of our sixth year, with the first of our 2017 covers by Lisa Congdon leading the way with such bright joy. (Truly, for month...
Yay! That proves that it always pays to keep hoping! Yours was the first blog I ever read and you also inspired me to try writing one myself...so I kept you on my blog roll just in case! All that waiting paid off! Good luck with your change of career and congratulations on giving up your job...it wouldn't take much to inspire me to do that too at the moment! Welcome back ☺
Hello, is there anybody out there ?

Hello! Hope your December is going well so far. There's been a lot to do around here (as I'm sure there has been in your neck of the woods also) as school and work and other activities finish up for the year. I've carved out some time to do a bit of Christmas-present-making - and have fin...

Yes that just about sums it up! I'm trying so hard to see the good bones this week... and not to scare the children...I wish I could be protected from the reality too...sometimes it just feels too much to absorb...
good bones
The world feels like a dark place at the moment. Beauty, making things, the domestic... all feel trivial, really. A friend posted this poem on social media and I thought it would be perfect to share here (thanks Clare!) Good bones Life is short, though I keep this from my children. Life ...

Having finished my grey shawl, I was looking through my stash and this skein sort of jumped out at me. It seems to perfectly reflect this time of year...full of the soft pinks and greens that I can spot in my garden. It is also appropriately named Strawberry Cream, which is my favourite trea...

Aquilegia, otherwise known as Granny's bonnet or Columbine, is to me the flower that signals Summer is on it's way...arriving as they do after the other Spring flowers and filling my garden with their beautiful, delicate petals. I've never planted any and the varieties that self seed are all ...

Reading and Knitting.
This week joining in with Ginny I am reading 12x12 by William Powers...I think I saw it recommended on yarnalong a while ago and decided to give it a try. I am enjoying how much it makes me think...and I am dreaming of living in a tiny house, no matter how unlikely that eventuality really is....
