Game Day Blog: UM vs GT
This week your Miami Hurricanes take on the Ramblin' Wreck of Georgia Tech in another ACC match-up that could decide the conference title for 2011. Miami is coming off a meaningful if not impressive win over North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Hurricanes streaked out to an early lead against th...
Their QB wasn't having to work for his completions. Every time he threw a pass it was to a stationary reciever who had the entire TV screen to himself.
Defense Less
Your Miami Hurricanes played well enough to win their game against ACC rival Virginia Tech. Yet they did not get it done and lost 38-35. And in the end that is all that matters, right? The UM offense started slow but later in the game played well enough to win. Miami QB Jacory Harris, RB La...
Miami does not vacate wins. We earn wins.
Hurricanes Share A Golden Moment
The main theme on a warm, humid and beautiful September day in South Florida should have been that first year University of Miami head football coach Al Golden was coaching the first home game of his career for the Hurricanes. Yet under the surface there was a strong current of other themes f...
The problem with the NCAA is they don't require due process of law. In other words, "anonymous" witnesses can convict you without you ever getting to face them or question them. Anybody could make up anything to take down a program the way it works now. Hey, let's destroy Florida State!
DT King, OT Wells get into UM; DL Kinard, RB Grooms don't
CORAL GABLES -- UM coach Al Golden said Friday morning that by the end of the day there would be some clarity pertaining to players with NCAA clearinghouse issues. A UM official provided some of that, confirming that defensive tackle Corey King (6-1, 265) and offensive lineman Hunter Wells (6-6,...
I would love to donate to Alonzo Highsmith's legal fund if he files a lawsuit on behalf of the Canes.
Staying On Message
Today was another day of staying on message for the University of Miami. After several days of hearing from Hurricanes head coach Al Golden, UM Athletic Director Shawn Eichorst and University President Donna Shalala today the message was bumped up the chain of command all the way to the top and...
Right now on my computer I can create a reciept that proves me and several Hurricane players went to dinner and had prostitutes. Anyone can do that these days.
Three Steps Forward, Two Steps Back
When the University of Miami hired Al Golden to coach the Miami Hurricanes football team after the 2010 season many 'Canes fans felt that the football program had taken one positive step forward. When Golden welcomed back some of the old school players and even former UM offensive line coach Art...
Hey Guys...I haven't posted in a few years but still read everyday. I've been losing a lot of sleep lately and just wanted to commiserated with my Cane Peeps. The U will survive! Won't it?

MDCane you got it exactly right about everybody getting a trophy. Most of us Dads stand around in shock at little league games these days where they don't keep score and everybody bats. Kids in other countries are learning to fend for themselves and I've said for a long time that this "entitlement" generation will come back to haunt us, not just in sports, but in life. MDCane said it better than I can.
Breaking News: Al Golden Joins The 12% Club!
Back in 2007, just one year after we first started Canespace, there was a poll conducted prior to Randy Shannon's first year as head coach that asked: "How many games will Miami win this season?" A few bold (some would say crazy) and very confident fans, twelve percent of the voters to be exa...
Six...Stanford has an excellent atheletic department. Football is their only weakness, and that is improving. They dominate alot of "lesser" sports, plus have outstanding programs in basketball and baseball. We should copy what they are doing.
Feeling Stronger Everyday
Got Strength? The University of Miami does. New UM basketball head coach Jim Larranaga announced that Jim Krumpos has joined the Hurricanes men’s basketball staff as the strength and conditioning coach, “I’m very pleased and excited to have Jim Krumpos join our staff,” said Larranaga. “He ...
The coveted "#1" jersey is now available. Who will get it?
Riding The Storm Out
Storm Johnson is no longer a Miami Hurricane. Ho-hum, what a shocker. For some fans, and for a few weeks now, it seemed as though it was only a matter of time. Johnson, who undeniably had a lot of talent, apparently also had a questionable attitude and a less than desirable work ethic as he...
What's up CaneSpacers!! I've been out of the country for about a year but I'm home...hopefully for good. And excited for an awesome season of Canes football!
Canes Rally, Take Series Finale From Noles
Your University of Miami Hurricanes baseball team look down and desperate after dropping the first two games of the three game series against their arch rival Florida State. But the Hurricanes came out swinging on Sunday and managed to salvage a win over the Seminoles to avoid the series sweep....
I don't buy this "Brissett to UF" crap. I still think we get him.
Past Is Prologue
This article was written for Canespace by blogger DZ8... National Signing Day has come and gone and most of "The Legion" is happy with the results. Given the circumstances Al Golden and his coaching staff did a good job landing and signing their first recruiting class. Yet as most of you alread...

Richardson: 1,000-yard back at UM is possible
When it comes to coaching 1,000-yard running backs, Terry Richardson knows what he's doing. As the running backs coach at UConn the last 12 years, Richardson had six running backs eclipse the 1,000-yard mark -- including one, Colts running back Donald Brown, run for an NCAA-leading 2,083 yards i...

This Is The End Of The Innocence
The Miami Hurricanes lost today. Randy Shannon was fired today. The disappointing, sad and at times tumultuous reign of "The Boss" has finally reached its brutal, bitter end. For many Hurricane fans this is the end of the innocence. So many wanted Randy Shannon to succeed for so many various and...
The fuze is set and the timer is ticking...Lamar Miller is about to explode.
When Life Gives U Turtles, Make Turtle Soup
After a tough loss on the road to Virginia next up for your Miami Hurricanes is a home game at noon (better get used to it) against the Maryland Terrapins at Sun Life Stadium. The Hurricanes will try to continue their yo-yo like season with a bounce back win over the slowly emerging Terps. Ju...
The national rankings, such as run defense and rushing offense are based on yards per game, not yards per attempt, which would be more accurate. For example, Manny downplays Oklahoma's rush defense as being ranked 80th nationally. But one of Oklahoma's games was against Air Force, who runs nearly every play. So if you removed 100 or so extra rushing yards to unscew the data, maybe OK's defense isn't really 80th best.
Who has the edge? Breaking down FSU-Miami
Saturday night at Sun Life Stadium, a sellout crowd and national TV audience will watch the 13th-ranked Hurricanes and 23rd-ranked Seminoles renew their rivalry. So, who is going to win? I don't know. But I have a feeling its going to come down to the wire -- just like the last three meetings ha...
I'm sick of biting my nails in FSU games. Let's put them away early for a change. 2001 was the last time we did that and we have the same talent differential this year.
The Natives Are Restless: It Must Be FSU Week!
To be, or not to be? Will it be wide right or wide left? That is the question. One thing is for certain this week in college football: When Miami and Florida State meet at Sun life stadium this Saturday night on national television (8 PM / ABC) both teams with have their throttles stuck WIDE O...

Who packs Canes' biggest punch? Cobra
Clemson safety DeAndre McDaniel didn't have the type of game he was hoping for against the Hurricanes last Saturday. The All-American blew coverage schemes and was torched by Canes receiver Leonard Hankerson on 22- and 65-yard touchdown catches. But that wasn't the worst part of McDaniel's da...
I had a dream last night that the Canes came out in all grey uniforms. Not sure where that came from.
Game Day Blog: Miami vs Clemson
Bring on the ACC baby: We ready, we ready! In the movie Shawshank Redemption Morgan Freeman says the following famous line: "You better get busy living, or get busy dying." Today it is time for your Miami Hurricanes to "get busy" in winning their first championship in the Atlantic Coast Confere...
A lot of talk here from Nebraska fans who think they may have a shot at revenge against us in this years national championship game. Well, they may be half right. The Canes may well be there this year or next...or both. But hard to picture Nebraska, with one of the weakest offenses in college football last year, going anywhere near the NC game. Their defense was a one-man show with Suh, and he's off to the Detroit Lions.
The only thing in their favor is thier MVP player, the guy who makes their schedule. They have exactly 1 game this year against a team ranked in the preseason top 40.

Nebraska can't help but win 11 games with their schedule. They play only 1 team in the pre-season top 40.
Desmond Howard: Canes will play Alabama in BCS National Championship game (and lose)
Good afternoon all! It's Susan Miller Degnan. I just finished watching the preseason special for ESPN College GameDay, and the Canes were hyped up like the old days. So hyped up, in fact, that two of the three analysts predicted Miami would win the Atlantic Coast Conference title for the first ...
Whoa I went and saw RUSH here in Omaha last night. Those guys can still bring it.
Sounds like the starting lineup will be what we all predicted at the beginning of spring. CMac in the middle, and Ray Ray at safety with VT.
Rewind: 2009 Legends Of The Fall Winners
As all of you Canespacers (old and new) now know one of our annual traditions here at Canespace is for the fans to select their "Legends of the Fall" (LOF) prior to each football season. Each blogger selects one player on offense and one on defense that they believe will have either an all-st...
I'm thrilled with Lamar Miller's 83 yard TD run, but the fact that he ended up with 85 yards on 9 carries detracts a bit. Hopefully it's just a result of us getting CMAC in the middle where he belongs. Plus, the rain probably put a damper on the entire offense.

Camp Shannon: Day 7
Your Miami Hurricanes go into the 2010 season with three obvious question marks: Will the play of the offensive line improve with several new starters? Who will start at MLB? Who will start at CB opposite Brandon Harris? Tonight during the first full scrimmage (7 PM / closed to the public an...
Just because we can afford to replace Wesley and Collier doesn't mean we should degrade them. Whatever happened to the "Hurricane Family" we always brag about? Collier had a tough run with the loss of his son. Can't we cut him some slack.
Top Ten Changes To Hurricane History: Part II
This article was written for Canespace by Ungar Returning to re-write Hurricane history for a second straight day, today we look at five more plays and five more games that would have changed college football forever and resulted in more national championships, maybe some additonal Heisman Troph...
