I have decided that the "blog" phase of my life is now over. I have enjoyed the process and each and every comment. When I de-activate my account, God knows what happens to the blog, the posts and comments! We shall see. It would be great if it was here like a time capsule, but maybe not. Thank you for your attention! Continue reading

I'll always remember the excitement of Halloween coming as a kid. Getting out the Halloween box, digging out the decorations. Remember how the only decoration were the flat paper ones that you would tape to windows and door? I loved it. Now a days, there is so much in way of decorations..... These old pictures (here and over by the fireplace) are lenticular! They change into scary pictures as you walk by them. This year we will have a house full of relatives coming by for scary movies, trick or treating, dinner and desert, and an evening full of spirits... Continue reading

God, it's been forever! I've had a busy month. So, I've been thinking for a couple of days now, how strange life is. I'm lucky. Things for me pretty much stay the same. Same job, house, partner, city, etc..... I got an email from an old friend, day before yesterday. He is an old friend I've know for 20 years. About 6 years ago he went missing. I had no idea what had happened to him. Last time I saw him, we were in NYC, where he had moved, and he was trying to talk me into moving there. After... Continue reading

It's a lazy Sunday, and all I've done so far is watch 5 recorded episode of CBS Sunday Morning. I had a caprese salad for lunch because the tomato's are in full ripeness! Nothing like fresh home grown tomatos! We have tons of basil now too. Plus I'm really into those little soft mozzarella balls in olive oil, as well as a balsamic vinegar. I added avocado too, so all is right with the world! I'm in full "Camp" mode! Not that I'm going camping, although, there is a slight chance of getting to Yosemite later this month with my... So, after years of wanting to pickle, I finally did it with friends. We had a Pickle-Party! Everyone brought stuff to pickle and jars. At the end we just divided it up, swapped & traded. And the finished product... Jams and jellies next! Oh,.....I forgot to tell you that Joe and I got engaged last month on June 26th. After (almost) 18 years together, we decided to tie the knot. We are looking at a barn wedding, next Spring. A small wedding of 45, family and our closest friends. Here are two pictures that are exactly what we are going... Continue reading

One of the things I loved most about my childhood was the exposure to books. My Mom was an avid reader and passed on to me the love of books. There were a few books from my childhood which really stand out, and I'm sure, helped shape me into the person I am today. The first of these books is, Sound of Mystery by Bill Martin Jr. This was one of my sisters school books, but it became a very important book for me. I remember laying on the carpet, looking at the book, making up stories that went with... Continue reading

I've wanted to tell you this for awhile, but there have been things standing in my way. Like how to get a video ready to post to a blog, and then how to post it. The story goes like this..... I got tickets to an early screening of Streisand's new film, The Guilt Trip, before it opened, and I don't know if I can go. Why? Because they were for the weekend that my Mother died. After she passed on Friday, I thought that I could use the smile, and enjoy some time away from my house. On Sunday, with... Continue reading

"Who are you"? Interesting that she DIDN'T ask me, "So,...what do you do"? We had already been introduced and had been siting next to each other on a couch talking for the past 25 minutes. She was a 77 year old woman with a warm British accent. We had talked about her days of working and living in London, Paris and New York City. Without too many details, she told me about what she liked and didn't like in each city. Continue reading

First.....did you notice the new blog header? I'm sure that you did since I had the other one from the very beginning. I like the change. We just got HBO. Did you know they show porn? I didn't, and was quite shocked when surfing the many HBO stations I ran across a couple having sex. Granted it "lite" porn, but porn none the less. Not that I have anything against porn per say, but I think it belongs on the internet. :) Okay....Today some pictures from around the house! A collection of swizzle sticks and cocktail picks. A collection Joe... Continue reading

Joe is a gardener. He's amazing with dirt, vegetables, and flowers. I, on the other hand, appreciate what he does and have to remember to go out into the garden and enjoy his work. Yesterday we had a salad for lunch in the garden, with lettuce that Joe grew, the fountain running and two dogs at our feet. Today we had an art fair at the McGroarty Art Center, and we did very well. We had a beautiful sunny day, hung out with old friends and made some new ones. Yesterday we decided to make paper and felt flowers, and... Continue reading

WHY? A couple of weeks ago I was at my banks drive up ATM machine to get cash. While waiting for my transaction, I noticed that the machine had braille lettering. Does anyone else think this is STRANGE? Growing up in a kitchen the way I did, makes for one hell of a baker. There is a simple joy that come from mixing flour, eggs, butter and sugar and making something delicious to share with others. I'm now known as a good baker, and I take pride in that title. My Grandmother and Mother were both great bakers, and I... Continue reading

Today, I miss my Mother something terrible. Anybody who has lost a parent that they were close to will understand this post today. And although you did not know my Mother, most of you know a little something about me, which means you almost knew her. I am, for lack of a better term, my Mother's child. Her name was Barbara Ann Louise Jane Casey (Murray). Born March 13th, 1930. I had one of those classic Mothers. One that many friends wished they had. My friend Suki remembers meeting my Mother for the first time in 1985. She had come... Continue reading

I have made hundreds over the past few years. Getting ready to teach again and do a couple art shows. Joe and I will be doing the McGroaty Art Center, 2013 ART FAIR on March 23rd. I photograph everything I make. For me, a record of what I've put into the world of art is important. When I first started making art that was made to sell, it took me awhile to own it. To not be embarrassed about it. Now, I make art to sell & to share, and I love teaching others. People coming together to learn and... Continue reading

Wow! Those are cool. Love the arch too. I always wanted Tamara to have a book art show. Making art that used a real book. Think it's a very smart idea for a show! Thanks for sharing these!

Finally feel like I'm back in the swing of blogging again! I feel better about it and the guilt is gone. Thank you for reading! It's Friday, and I'm off from work. Had to run an errand and when I got home, Joe was gone. Have no idea where he is. Well....this is what we get for not having cell phones. On the bright side, we'll never get brain cancer from them either....if any of that is true! Okay, so I cleaned the kitchen, and was looking at my shelf that I made. Think this is a great time and... I grew up in a house where we didn't drink on holidays. There was an occasional hot buttered rum around Christmas, but never wine on the table. I basically grew up not drinking. I got to collage and tasted beer for the first time, I hated then and still do today. I'm still not a wine drinker, but I do like mixed drinks!. Turns out, with this drinking thing.....I'm pretty good at it! I'm very social with it, getting together with friends for an occasional cocktail, and going out for drinks in New York City has become a fun thing... Continue reading

THANK YOU...for the welcome back. :) Okay, so today we are having our Chunky Book group meeting. We are meeting at 11am instead of the usual 3pm, because we want to have brunch. The assignment: to bring Valentines. As you know, there are a million and one ideas for handmade Valentines. Here is what I came up with: Recycled bags (with red of course) sewn around the the edges, and filled with delicious red Hot Tamales candies. I also put a little saying on the front of every one, something having to do with LOVE. On the back I added... Continue reading

At this time, I've decided to move forward, and not look back. When I look back, I get kind of sad. Someone I know on Face Book, posted something this week that caught my eye. It was a simple statement that I like... "It's okay to look back, just don't stare". I've had my time to grieve. I could keep going but I'm choosing not to. There will be moments I'm sure, but I have to get back on the train and finish the trip. The day before yesterday was my Birthday, and I took the day off from work.... Continue reading

I feel like I've been away for so long. As you can very well imagine, this is going to be a very strange period of my life. Your words that you offered on my last post comforted me, and I thank you for taking the time to leave a comment. It's too soon to even begin to tell you my thoughts, and what I'm feeling. I will say this. I'm my Mother's sensitive child, and I always have been. I remember as a child, feeling the pain of people around me. I would have sooner lost my own arm than... Continue reading

Love & Beauty is what she added to this world. My Mother just died after a two year battle with cancer. I had the privilege of taking care of her to the very end. She died surrounded by family, love & prayers. I will write more in my next post, as they have yet to come get her. My life shall never be the same. Continue reading

It's Thanksgiving time. I always find that the holiday, for me, is a time of reflecting. The spirit of my Father always seems to be around and abound. I think because Thanksgiving was always his favorite holiday. It was a time for family, food and thanks. He took such pride at getting up at 5am, getting the bird cleaned and ready, and always had it in the oven by 8am. We would usually eat around 1pm and have the rest of the day to nap, and snack. Another reason I feel him so much is because my Mom is with... Continue reading
