Thanks, John...let this election cycle mercifully end...here in the political backwater of rural Missouri right-wing crazies are being fed THE most vile misinformation from the state GOP that we've seen yet since moving here nine LONG years ago...how this type of thing qualifies as FREE SPEECH is beyond me.

Funny, but you've missed a million 'choices"...what about Universalists, Orthodox, and whatever constitutes being a "German Baptist." (Still can't wrap my head around THAT one...) Besides, I contend that to a great degree, what religion you practice is largely AN ACCIDENT OF BIRTH. I was born in Lindsborg, KS...naturally, I was raised as a Lutheran (of the LCA variety.) I didn't even KNOW there were other branches, such LCMS, until I was in COLLEGE, and only HEARD about Catholics spoken in hushed, frightened tones...and my Dad used to get good tables in nightclubs because he looks entirely Jewish, though raised as a "Free Methodist" (re: Holy Roller.) Try navigating THAT family landmine...

What happened to the concepts of PARADOX and IRONY? Clearly nearly HALF of this nation's citizens (let's call them REPUBLICANS) just DON'T GET IT... Whenever tempted to VOTE for one, I refer you to the WISE WORDS of an old friend and compatriot, who said to me when I smugly told him I had NEVER voted a straight ticket, "Well, GREAT, Jeri...everytime you vote for one you help PERPETUATE THE SPECIES." And to this day I haven't made THAT mistake again. If someone wants MY vote, he/she had better at the very LEAST run as an independent...!

Hey, John...rethink your policy on sermons. Because I'm supposed to avoid crowded places, particularly during the flu season, having access to your sermons would be a boon during the dark days of a northeast Missouri winter! Ponder my pathetic plea... Jeri

Read Bernie Sanders' new book, then sign a petition to turn this Supreme Court travesty on its head.

John, you're sounding like a Universalist Unitarian...which is a COMPLIMENT! "We are ONE in the spirit, we are ONE in the Lord...and we pray that our UNITY may ONE DAY BE RESTORED..." So far, my home ELCA congregation hasn't abandoned the ELCA ship, but evidently lots of people are going overboard...literally. Giveth me a break...

Incomprehensible...seriously, what is the deal with these people? I currently work with one whose views routinely send actual CHILLS up my spine. They seem to generate a lot of energy from hating the unhate-able. And I've got a Masters in English and I DON'T CARE if that's not a word...

I've spent most of my adulthood avoiding any baseball that didn't involve the direct participation of my own kids. I date my disenchantment with the game back to watching a Texas Rangers game in Arlington, TX back in 1974 on my senior trip. I remember just wishing something would actually HAPPEN on the field. That really was the last time I remember being legitimately BORED. But I have to say I watched Ken Burns' documentary on baseball and recalled a childhood affection for the game that lasted throughout most of the sixties...has the game changed, or is it just me?
