This project consisted of taking out a wall between the kitchen and great room, tearing out most of cabinets and reconfiguring them. It was necessary to add an additional four cabinets in the new layout. The coffee / wine bar was previously the desk and catch-all space. The tile behind the buffet appears lighter, but it is actually the same as behind the 66" range. I wished I had taken more before photos, but I didn't wish to impose on the owners. It was a challenging project, but one of the most rewarding. Continue reading

The before and after photos of our kitchen and bath were featured in Canyon Creek Echos Magazine! The Kitchen and Master Bath Cabinets Doors are Hampton. They were painted on a Maple with CC Color #1-3901P. I chose this color as I wanted one with a slight gray undertone. Walls in kitchen are painted Sherwin Williams Nebulous White SW 7063, Ceilings bright white with Beams painted Passive SW 7064. Continue reading

Actually it's a "Tiny Apartment"! But before I get into that I thought I might explain why I have been absent from this site and basically it's quite simple: I was exhausted! Renovating a house can take a lot out of a person, and not having it completely perfect was a challenge, especially when I want perfection and perfection takes time! I tend to be critical of the work I do, always striving for perfection and not wanting to share something less. It's something I have had to get over! I'm actually quite happy with the work we have done,... Continue reading

I was thinking about painting the stairs in Ombre, however I decided on an Analogous Color Scheme instead and I'm loving it! Top - Bottom: SW 6669 Yarrow SW 6663 Saffron Thread SW 6650 Marquis Orange SW 6636 Husky Orange SW 6622 Hearty Orange Continue reading

To me there is unique character to an old home. I don't know whether it's the moss growing on the roof, or the cracks in the wall holding moistue. These things together are beautiful... but not necessarily healthy for a home. So the walls have been cleaned, the cracks have been filled and the home has been painted, and now the grate has gone up. It was powder coated to give it many years of wear. These grates bring back the character of the old and being able to open the window and let in fresh air is wonderful! This... Continue reading

Moving into a wonderful old home, has it's challenges; one being storage. We are using this old icebox for food storage and while it looks organized, the cabinet is deep and things get lost in the back! After takinga advantage of the big sale going on at the Container Store, it's easier to keep things organized after we installed the Elfa Mesh Easy Gliders! We also used the Elfa Mesh Drawers for our recycle... This fit perfectly into this funny little cabinet at the base of the stairs. Glass on top, Paper in the middle and plasitic on the bottom!... Happy Holidays! Wow... It's been awhile since the last update! We are mostly moved in and while there's still plenty to do, we are enjoying the season. With a bit of Holiday Cheer in most every room, the kitchen is the busiest; making special dinners and holiday treats. Through those French doors we've had some fun dinners and created new memories! We're loving the spacious living room. Remember how cold it was last year? A new sofa and chair is definitely on my wish list : )! We're finding the library to be coziest room in the house! There you... Continue reading

It doesn't seem that long ago that I was giving you a sneak peak into our project! This was the very first photo I shared! Remember that old paint? I certainly love the new paint job! The back area has become a very desirable private space. We used stamped concrete with two colors and it looks like it's been there forever! You may notice we lost a couple of trees as our over zealous excavator decided they weren't worth saving. In the long run it was a good idea, I love the feel of this space. Our Landscaper, Jim Davies... Continue reading

There is a sense that I'm a bit behind on updating our very big project, but there is a very good explanation for that. No, I'm not making excuses... but each time I think I'm ready to share photos of everything we have accomplished, I find the remnants of paint/hardware/tools everywhere! Take this kitchen photo for instance... do you see either side of the counter top? Of course not! Each side is piled with hardware and cleaning supplies! But don't you just love the Marmoleum floor along with cabinets, hardware and fixtures! Remember how it used to look? And how... Continue reading

If you had the opportunity to spend the day with these two darling girls instead of working, wouldn't you? While most of my days are spent working on the house, one special day was spent driving to Hood River with my favorite daughter! It was a fantastic day, making a stop at a very fun, colorful pumpkin patch! While Bennet exuded excitement running through the maze, I was finally able to snap a shot when she stopped to catch her breathI And at the end of it all, Tuesday went out to find the muddiest pumpkin she could find! The... Continue reading

Last night we went to the Street of Dreams and I must say it was the best one yet! Homes were exquisite and designs were flawless, except for this little detail... Can you spot it? Seriously the only way to make this work, would be to have someone sitting on the little stool waiting to warm up the tub when necessary! Because who's really ready to get out of the tub when it first starts to chill? Continue reading

Here's a photo recap with few words... First I have to say a big Thank You to Hussy Corp for rescuing my tile job (yes that fiasco will be in another post!). I love the job they did in the Kitchen! I love the Kitchen! The Hussy's are working on repairing the damage done by old tile guy... Tub... That's right... Still in the box! My first closet design with Canyon Creek... Love it! Now on to the bedrooms... Everyone says they love this color: Sherwin Williams Frostwork. And the Mulbery Pendants... So fun! The bedrooms all have this awesome... Continue reading

Summer is such an awesome overwhelming time for construction! Everyone is super busy and stretched thin. There's no time to complain as winter will set in soon enough and work will typically slow way down. Pence NW has several jobs going right now and everyone wants to be in by August or September 1st! I grab our guys when I can for projects around the Villa. Last week it was Closet System install. We've also have been working on: *The Boiler System *Tile…Yes I have another installer! I will update that fiasco in another post. *Kitchen is just about complete... Continue reading

It wasn't that long ago when the Villa looked like this? Sherwin Williams Compatible Cream SW 6387 for the body, Napery SW 6366 around the windows /trim and Benjamin Moore Kendall Charcoal HC-166 around the windows! We haven't quite finished so you can see the tired, old color next to the brighter, fresh color here! We're loving it! And the neighbors are delighted! Continue reading
