Keith, Awesome post, man. I came here via Randy Elrod's RT .. I live in a place that many can call a "soul's home" - a place you may know, being a Georgia boy ... beautiful St. Simons Island, GA. Tons of history and heritage, including Charles & John Wesley's ministry here. If you don't mind, I'd love for you to visit what I posted yesterday ... see link below, I'm chasing a dream to offer 3-days of soul-care/sabbatical here on the island ... maybe you can help us spread the word! (or even come)! See

That's VERY interesting ... I'd love to get more feedback from the congregant's side of things. Part of leading people in worship ... at least, consistently, is the pastoral role ... not just leading them in songs, but in truly taking them to that place, understanding and having a feel for the people, the culture, the town, etc. I wonder if a "guest" can consistently do that .. can the "guest" develop a sense of trust and relationship with the people they are leading? Or are the people really just watching a guest concert. I doubt it's the latter; though, I've found in my 20+ years of leading that the more relationship you have with the people you're leading, the more they trust and will follow you, and will engage. Interesting, for sure!

Randy, love it ... love the post, and I feel a bit of envy myself at that level of freedom.
