I hope this guy is right about the music industry recession coming to an end because I need to keep my job. And I love the point he made about access vs. ownership. But record labels should start their own cloud website instead of partnering with another company and splitting the profits. Something similar to Vevo. The opportunity is there. They dont need Spotify.

I don't understand why people are so hype for Spotify. I was able to use Spotify for about a month and I enjoyed it. But I also tried MOG and it blows Spotify out of the water. Spotify is lacking in the discovery department. But I guess they have built a brand. Can someone explain the Spotify hype?

Wow! Clyde Smith is 50? I never would of guessed that. Prohiphop.com actually introduced me to Hypebot. I love Prohiphop.com. The angle that Clyde looks at Hip Hop and the business of music is very incitement.

Yeah, i see the pay per download era coming to a screeching halt within the next few years, when consumers get use to all of the different options that companies like MOG, Pandora and Spotify are offering. Apple is going to be forced into a different model for selling music. They're crazy if they think people are going to continue to pay 99 cents per download.
I wonder how artist are going to account for the royalties though. (sound like more artist being screwed)
MOG All Access Streaming Is Live
UPDATE 3: MOG.com is now live. Read my "first look" here. Read Hypebot readers' first impressions after the jump below.
To complicated? I dont think thats what you mean. I think you mean to say: There are too many features for me. Spotify is simple because its built for people who just want to listen to something in particular. The discovery aspect of Spotify is weak compared to MOG and for MOG to create strong discovery features it had to add a few more bells and wistles then Spotify.
MOG is like Spotify on steroids. If you ask me, Spotify is boring/ not complicated enough.
MOG All Access Streaming Is Live
UPDATE 3: MOG.com is now live. Read my "first look" here. Read Hypebot readers' first impressions after the jump below.
WOW! Just got done using the free 1 hour trial period. This thing is incredible. Its the perfect marriage of all the popular streaming services and its only $5 per month. I wish could search more than 1 artist (jimi hendrix, lil wayne) and put them in the same que. The sliding scale for similar artist is definitely the killer feature.
