Hello blog family. Thank you for joining me today. I am sure you are familiar with the phrase 'Success is a journey'. Many of us are, having probably come across it many times. But what exactly does it mean and how does it apply to us in our daily lives? Well, according to the dictionary, a journey is a 'period of travelling'. So success being a journey means it is a period of travelling. We can thus safely say that success is a lifetime "period of travelling" because while other journeys end when we arrive at a destination, the success... Continue reading

Today, many of us have heard the sad news of the passing of legendary musician Kenny Rogers. The artist who passed on at the age of 81 has many prestigious accolades to his name, but I believe the most memorable will be the impact he made on individuals across the world through his music. I was one of those who listened to Kenny Rogers' music growing up. Some of my favorite songs of his include Through The Years, Lucille, Coward Of The County, She Believes In Me... and at the top of the list, The Gambler, which still finds itself... Continue reading

Why do we put so much effort into looking for the right person, when we can just become the right person and the right people will be drawn to us? Let's talk emotional maturity today on the blog. I have been consulting with quite a few people lately, helping them process the importance of working on what they can control so as to align better with purpose and their walk in life. We have no control over other people - their actions, reactions, thoughts, or words. Neither do we even have the power to "fix" them into the "perfect" one... Continue reading

Parenting involves figuring out how to balance quite a few things while making them all work to the best of our abilities, right? If you are a parent, I am sure you do agree with me that career and work, the kids and every aspect of their lives, other family commitments, responsibilities toward the community, etc are all a part of our lives and need to be paid attention to. Keeping it all together can get overwhelming and requires planning especially if you are someone who likes to make sure important needs are met. I am a firm believer in... Continue reading

Dear blog family, welcome back to the blog where we are exploring success, one article at a time! I hope that you've been doing fantastic and are experiencing lots of happiness and success in your lives. Let's talk this do-it-yourself painting project me and the kids have taken on. Last year when I bought my house, the basement was unfinished. This was one of the reasons I was drawn to the house... the potential here, that we could finish up this space and make it all us. So not long after I closed on the property, we set about working... Continue reading

“When you can imagine you begin to create and when you begin to create you realize that you can create a world that you prefer to live in, rather than a world that you’re suffering in.” – Ben Okri We are in the month of February already! How is the great year 2020 going for you so far? My hope and prayer as we discussed in our New Year Video (below) is that you have turned over some new pages and are staying the course for success. Making changes is not always so easy because we face many triggers that... Continue reading

Dear blog family, let's talk about EXPECTATIONS!!! "Expectations" is a...I wish I could say 'little'...but it's actually a long word, that bears heavily on our dealings and relationships with others. Expectations also have a big impact on our happiness and overall mental state as leaders, which explains the need for us to check-up on them often. Expectations usually project what we want, need or feel entitled to—from others, from life and from ourselves. The dictionary defines expectations as: "a strong belief that something will happen or be the case in the future." or "a belief that someone will or should... Continue reading

This is what being an entrepreneur, a full-time parent, and then going back to school looks like (above photo). After a full day, you still have to put in the hours studying; knowing that it will pay off eventually because learning is self- and career- improvement at their best. Yes, I decided to go back to school and I am studying for a Masters degree in Accounting. smiles. Guess what? The last time I was in school was some 23 years ago big smiles. So you can imagine how different it feels. Actually, many adults in our generation are not... Continue reading

Dear Champions, welcome to the blog. I was inspired to write this post by the above photo. When you first look at it, what comes to mind? Us walking away... is what comes to mind for me. In actuality, we (my niece and I) were walking to this facility to watch my daughter compete at a track meet. My sister took the photo from behind us. I was simply going to post it on Instagram and Facebook, but the significance of how the image needed to be correctly captioned versus what it seemed like had me thinking a lil bit... Good morning! It's Thanksgiving day in the USA; a perfect day to be reminded of the joys of being thankful. When I woke up this morning, the sun was out and the day looked bright and warm, and I thought, "Wow, what a beautiful day to be thankful." What if we could just be thankful for the little things... like the smile of a neighbor, the presence of a family member, the hug from a colleague, that 'Happy Thanksgiving' text message from an unexpected person, the food cooking on the stove, the smoke from a grill across the street, the... Setting boundaries is vital in both personal and work relationships. This is because boundaries provide some kind of framework of instructions by which we would rather operate as adults. Boundaries are a clear indication of our preferences; they allow those we interact with to understand our likes and dislikes, what we are willing to put up with and what the deal-breakers are. Setting boundaries and clearly communicating them is like offering a manual containing guidelines to the other person or persons. I believe this kind of clarity is necessary in preserving relationships as parties involved understand the rules, needs, wants,... Continue reading

Dear Blog family. Are you looking forward to having a good day full of blessings in your life today, tomorrow and rest of the week? Do you believe that your day will indeed be blessed and the right doors will open up for you as the hours go by? I hope so! I woke up with these words from the book of Deuteronomy strong on my mind and thought to share them with you: "You are blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out" Standing on God's promises is a way of life for Christians. As we... Continue reading

The most beautiful things in life are felt in the heart... you know, that joy, satisfaction, love, inner peace (also known as peace of mind) and sense of fulfillment. Whenever we start to feel anything that is opposite, that means we are unaligned with our inner selves. And unless we pay attention and examine why we are feeling not-so-good, frustration, anger, sadness, pain, struggle begin to take root in our lives. Most people do not take the time to address unhappy feelings. In fact, feeling unhappy may seem like the norm for many as expressed in this quote by Paulo... Continue reading

Hello from Atlanta dear blog family. I noticed this beautiful lone wildflower blooming in my yard this morning and loved it. As I admired the plant that seemed to have sprouted out of nowhere, I felt inspired, reminded of how much goodness there is to reap from simply paying close attention to all that is charming and beautiful around us. What if we were to intentionally practise the art of picking out the beauty and admiring the brightness in all that is presented to us on a daily basis... at home, at work, in the store, at school, on the... "Success has little to do with what the other person is doing or not doing. It’s more in line with developing character and habits that lead to career, business and personal growth, and living a lifestyle that attracts prosperity and abundance as we grow from one level to the other." - except from Preface, Success On Your Terms Writing a book is no piece of cake, I can tell you that (*smiles*). Hello Family. I received a Facebook message from a friend in Nigeria this morning that read: "Good afternoon Lema, what happen that you are out from your inspirational words to us". Awww... This is true...and I am sorry. I haven't been consistent in sharing inspirational words these past days. Like many, I have been bogged down by recent horrifying events around the world - shootings, bombings, hurricanes and other natural disasters, etc; especially in my home country Cameroon where there is ongoing brash abuse and killing of citizens in certain regions of the country. This hits very close. One of... Continue reading
