R & B Diva Angie Stone is known for hitting some impressive notes with her soulful voice but according to Dekalb County Public Information she was recently arrested for hitting something else, her daughter. Stone was arrested for aggravated assault for an altercation with her 30 year old daughter. Long story short, Angie was fussing at her grown daughter who then got up in her face and laid hands resulting in Angie knocking her two front teeth out when she hit her with a metal stand after said daughter got physical with Momma. Now what has not been revealed is... Continue reading

Just when you thought it was safe to use your double coupons on grocery day you get side swiped by Grandpa Walton. A 92 year old man Russell Kerr was trying to get his minivan out of a Wisconsin Piggly Wiggly parking lot when his foot got stuck on the accelerator. Bless his heart, Mr. Kerr panicked and went on a hit and run adventure in the parking lot resulting in 10 cars being smacked in less than one minute. Guess who's insurance premiums are going up next month? “I can tell you in 23 years of law enforcement, I’ve... Continue reading

So I saw this video a few days ago and wanted to say something about the incident but I had to marinate on this topic for a bit. The video entitled “Man smacks the soul out of girl on the NY Subway,” has gone viral on You Tube. I believe even Whoopi and the divas on The View recently got into a heated discussion on this topic. Apparently the video shows and I use the term loosely, "a young lady" verbally abusing a male passenger and basically being a hot, ratchett mess. The male passenger at some point has had... We have a new victim of the “pray the gay away” propaganda machine. Some poor fool’s video has gone viral after declaring he has been cured in a come to Jesus, summer revival, Pentecostal display of and I use the term lightly “rediscovered heterosexuality” (Insert side eye). Old boy is heard yelling, ““I’m not gay anymore. I’m delivered,” he said. “I don’t like mens anymore. I said I like women. Women, women, women….” Boy please! Maybe if you keep chanting that you might still believe it but I am not convinced. Maybe it is the over the top antics…maybe it’s... Continue reading

The Avengers Age of Ulton Trailer has been released and I keep watching it over and over again. I have not been this excited about a film since the first Xmen movie was slated to be released years ago. I just want any world order event like an Eboli outbreak to be post poned long enough for this film to be released. Yes I am comic fanatic! The Avengers Age of Ulton Trailer movie trailer boast a roller coster ride of action and thrills but the real reason I am so psyched about this film is they are finally bringing... Continue reading

Hey guys I am a real fan of the zombie series "The Walking Dead." I am historically not a fan of zombie movies but the writing is so dynamic and compelling on this show that you quickly realize that the story is more about the living than the hordes of... Continue reading

Aretha Franklin the "Queen of Soul" is proving that you are never too old to stay relevant as an artist. Aretha's new album "Aretha Franklin Sings the Great Diva Classics" pretty much says it all. You guys know I love me some divas and I am talking about real old school divas not these auto tune, art directed, pre-constructed, rehab every other month wannabe neophyte divas. I heard Aretha Franklin's cover of Adele's "Rolling In the Deep" and instantly fell in love with the Queen of Soul all over again. It is kind of fitting and full circle that Aretha... Hey guys so I got some bad news from the editor at Creative Loafing that due to new ownership and recent budget cuts my Class Is In Session video blog has been put on hiatus just when it got started. I was really frustrated at first but did not want to lose any momentum so I am self-publishing the next episode. Like many of you I had to recently deal with getting an inspection sticker, tags, car taxes and the dreaded DMV. But since I did not address these issues in a timely manner I had been "riding dirty" or... Continue reading

How can a man just jump the fence at the White House run across the lawn and walk in the front door? Well that is exactly what happened when Iraq war verteran, Omar Gonzalez jumped the fence, sprinted across the lawn and entered the North Portico entrance. He was arrested and they found a four inch knife on Gonzalez. I get followed at Target and in most retail stores all the time so how does one jump the fence at the White House, run across the lawn and up to the front door? This is not a drive by saint,... Hey guys I usually do not get into Disney films at least not since I was a kid and started with Fantasia but something about the Maleficient trailer intrigued me. So I went to see Maleficient today starring her royal fierceness Angelina Jolie. Before I get started you know I always have to share my movie pet peeves. Folks who get to the film late and instead of finding a discreet seat on the side want to march and crawl over you to get to prime seats in the middle. Also what is up with ushers who want to start... Continue reading

I just saw X-men Days of Future Past and I am still raw with sensory overload. You guys know how long I have been eagerly awaiting this film! In X-men Days of Future Past we see "old school meets new school" as X-men teams from past and future work to prevent a war between humans and mutants. What is making this war all the more bleak is the presence of a robotic army of Sentinels. Sentinels were originally created to hunt down mutants but with all creations of mass distruction that is not enough, so humans are also eventually targeted.... Continue reading

I saw Captain America: Winter Soldier today. I have not seen a film at the movies in months so I was excited to have the theater experience. Captain America was not one of my favorite comic book heroes and really the only reason I got into him at all was when he was with the Avengers. I was not aware of the origin of this movie from what comic book but it was still some good storytelling. I did not feel like I needed a lot of backstory to follow the plot. First of all Captain America is mad buff... Continue reading

OMG! The new "Xmen Days of Future Past" trailer is out! I am so giving a very loud comic book geek squeal. I know I prayed to live long enough to see the first Xmen trilogy but now I am amending that to include the new film in the Xmen saga, "Xmen Days of Future Past." This film will allow us to see a young and future Professor X and Magneto. This looks like it is going to be an absolutely action packed thrill ride as the mutants battle Sentinels. We also get to see some new mutants added to... Continue reading

"Bring It" is a new reality show on Lifetime and before you roll your eyes at yet another reality TV show, you have to see the show first. "Bring It" gives you a behind the scenes look at the elite world of hip-hop majorette competitions. Forget about the watered down Hollywood movie version of this urban dance phenomenon you get to see where this art form was orginated and still practiced with fierceness! "Bring It!" highlights the triumphs and struggles of intense competition, where errors aren't tolerated, mediocrity isn’t excused and only a win is acceptable. All of this happens... Continue reading

So I have to give a shout out to my little play brother Jova for turning me onto this show. "Chozen" is about a gay white rapper fresh out of prison trying to make it big as a rap artist. The main character,Chozen, uses his "man on man" experiences while in prison to shape his artistry. His lyrics challenge stereotypes, hyper-masculine personas and misogyny that is synonymous with the world of Hip Hop. SNL's Bobby Moynihan is set to star in the series as Chozen, the lead character of the show with his nemesis Phantasm being voiced by legendary rapper,... Continue reading

The Real Housewives of Atlanta's Porsha Stewart who has historically not been the brightest Diva seems to continue to confirm that she may have gone to school on the short bus. A preview for upcoming episodes shows the divas visiting several historical landmarks including one of the safe houses used by 19th-century black slaves in the United States to escape to Free states. Now here is where I think this Diva may have been dropped on her young beauty queen head when she was little. The tour guide is explaining that still to this day they are unsure how the... A high school senior was suspended for a year for hugging his teacher and consequently will not graduate on time. Sam McNair who is a senior at Duluth High School was suspended after a hearing officer made the decision that he violated Gwinnett County Schools’ sexual harassment policy. Apparently surveillance cameras captured McNair approaching his teacher from behind and putting his arms around her. The teacher filed a complaint that he allegedly pressed his cheeks and lips on her neck. Was he hugging her or grinding? Remember the good old days when you could interact with your teacher with out... Continue reading
