This is great. You went to some effort to collect these gems.

Bruce, An excellent suggestion: "I, personally, think it might be bracing for our politics, if we were a little more blunt, rhetorically." But our politicians and voters are "Living in a fantasy counterfactual," as well. Nobody seems to recognize their own economic self-interest even when it's poking them in the eye.

Outstanding. Poetry and metaphysics. Is this a new look? It is top-notch (judicious white space, clarity and navigation).

Thanks, Agnes. Very few people even read poetry. I have been trying to limit their exposure to one little-bitty screenful.

Off topic: Congratulations, Dr. Thoma. Just finished reading about the Economist's View in _TypePad for Dummies_.

Roger, Amen from a layperson. I am going to have to look up "implicature" and see what it means, but I get the general idea. This is a fine bog, and one of my favorites. "wrong thread parson"

Re: TypePad: [it’s my monkey] Kofla Olivieri submitted a comment on "good grief" Ha, ha. Why not? Or you could buy all the books they suggest (did you see the movie, “Supersize Me”?) and blog about your room full of spy books.

I like the Typepad Team. I've gotten some good tips from my updates. If I decide that I don't like them anymore, I'll just stop following.

Michael, Some precious phrasing there. Reminds me of becoming aware of "militant, nationalist Hindus." Bye-the-bye, to comment here I have to log in to Typepad, even though I'm coming from my Dashboard where I've already signed in.

Fine piece of writing. Memoir should be interesting.

Is this a case of population over-shoot? If everybody in China feels entitled to two cars and three big fish per day, is there enough? And for India, too? Not enough resources on the planet for the current population? I am a layperson, but what does economics say?
