I've been working on some home projects and some new jewelry for the Spring. Finally turning some of the found objects over the years into some functional objects. The towel vallet is made from 19th century electrical insulators that I found in my travels from Vancouver, CA to Wellfleet, Cape Cod. The cabinet is still a work in progress. I have also gotten back into some yoga which inspired this new pendant for my line, The Golden Om. Continue reading

I had my annual board meeting for the MJSA- which entitled me a short visit to NYC, and a chance to scope out and document some of its great industrial design both grand and subtle. Continue reading

While cleaning off some old photos from my computer to free up some hard drive space I came across these photos I took in Florida a few years ago. We always take for granted design that is all around us. Continue reading

I had a magical weekend custom visit on Saturday. A man I met twenty years ago in Birmingham Alabama tracked me down to not only have an engagement ring made but fly to Rhode Island to propose to his girlfriend in my Providence studio! No pressure! This was definitely a first for me and I learned that they were high school sweathearts from 30 years ago-very romantic. Continue reading

I had a trip to New York City for the annual MJSA board meeting My wife and daughter came a long and it was a great opportunity for us to see some friends and for me to get some work done in the jewelry district. We also managed a trip into the MOMA. We were pretty blown away by the Gabriel Orozco ehibit Mobile Matrix- essentially a graphite tattoed whale skeleton. This was very inspiring to me and some work I've been meaning to get back to with natural materials and painting. Continue reading

This Christmas tree stand was constructed using one 2" x 4" x 8 foot piece of Douglas Fir and four iron brackets, reclaimed from one of Rhode Island's historic mills. Sometimes I even combine my passion... Continue reading

Iron is so inspiring to me. The amount of craftsmanship and work that goes into some of the iron work gates in Brooklyn are featured here as well as some local steel yard work and some art nouveau pieces from the MOMA. Continue reading

We have had lots of changes since November of 2007: a big move from Brooklyn to Providence Rhode Island, a new home, a new studio, a wedding, a baby and is that it?? It is nice to look back and reflect and have gratitude for all our blessings during the holidays and in such turbulent times. There is a constant source of inspiration all around us- remember to enjoy! Continue reading
